Final Fantasy 7 Remake:Reality or Fan's Dream

After seeing the Tech Demo, All the rage is that FF7 is being remade. Square-Enix is denying that they are making a remake. But why go through all that trouble of making a demo of the remake if you're not making it? Anybody got any info on this subject?   |

all i know is its a tech demo...who knows maybe square is planning a remake...well there was rumors a long time ago (courtesy of egm's q-mann) that square was planning to remake ff7 to 9 for the ps2 but it was stopped... maybe it would be a reality...but man square enix should stop milking ff7 and start making "original" games! |

yeah i hear it too, well for the demo they did it in order to show how great, let see i forgot, blue ray was it or PS 3, well any off it, it's just demo for a product

i hope they make it in the near future cause they made crisis core for a reason and the ending that leads into the intro of the tech demo looks similar to each other. i hear their making a part two to dirge of cerberus and that game was pretty bad. i wished they put the money into making ff7 ac the game instead.  |

Old news... Come on people... Its just some AC fan who probably hasn't played FF7 on the PS1 wanting to play a remake since he/she thinks the graphics are pathetic... (What did you expect...? It was released in 1997) Until they officially say that they will... Fine... Hurrah and all that... But still its going to be a long wait since they are concentrating on their other games for the 3 recent gen systems (and handhelds)... A Tech demo is a Tech demo (and have pointed out that it was to display the power of the PS3 at the time since Sony was looking for CG demos and SE already had Advent Children models ready)... And we know that Crisis Core officially ends where FF7 starts... (ergo the CG ending is reasonable or would you rather want the old PS1 graphics integrated in the ending... Course not...) supposedly square-enix had some sorta function where they had a board where you write down and post on the board what you most wanted from them.. or something like that.. and the number 1 request was for a remake of ff7... or so i heard... i actually would love to play a remake because i never truly liked the game the way it was.. i always thought it should have been done better |

so much drama for this game...but guys i remember square enix saying theyre not gonna make such a game. And from what ive heard thex just made the tech demo to see how it would look like on a ps3... so if i were you guys i would not keep my hopes up. Try thinkin bout the new ff thats coming out and the 3 new Kingdom hearts games that are on the way ^^  Part of the new age Gendou RP veterans: Kira, Rukia, KM Revolution, Smoker, Avian, L, and Ryu. |

why would i want new ff games and kingdom hearts.. like two the there titles are on th psp ..psp stinks... my friends psp died in less than half a year... and the screen takes to much maintenance man... its not worth it even the new one isn't worth it... ..so i can't look forward to such games.... FF7 is the game that if they remake it for the ps3 EVERYONE WILL BUY IT... its the special game you know?.. they could sell the original version for the psp.. maybe then i'd buy it.. lol... |

I'm both for and against this. I'm for it because I'd like to see FF7 (actually, I don't mind what game is remade, as long as it's not another bloody FF1 and FF2 remake) remade with better graphics and maybe some extra stuff to do, like optional content. On the other side of the coin, I'm against a remake. For one huge reason, I'm positive that if Square decided to remake the game they would screw up every aspect of it to make it match today's game. They'd take out random battles, make it a real time battle system (Which I cannot stand because it ends up as mindless button mashing all the time with 0 strategy) and finally, they would probably remove a lot of what made FF7 great (at least what I thought made it great). If I were to side with one or the other, I'd be against it. There's about a 90% chance at least that what I said in the second paragraph would come true and I just wouldn't be able to pick up FF7 again without thinking about how much the remake made me sick. Also, I've got to go with my man LuBu on his comment which I think is very accurate. Most of these requests for a remake are coming from people who've seen AC and want to play or replay the original game but with better graphics. Personally, I don't care. I don't mind the graphics of the PS1 era, or any time beforehand, they give you a nostalgic feel. It's different when you play a game on a newer console, because you expect the games to look good. With older consoles though you shouldn't expect much but also don't bash it because of that. There are still great games on those older systems, graphics or not. Real gamers can get over that stuff, quite easily.    |

Well said, Jonathon. Another reason I think fans(including me) want a remake is that it's so hard to get the original game. I know, you can find it on eBay, but everytime I get a copy, it's either scratched or missing a disc(even when the listing clearly says all discs included!) But Jonathon kinda opened my eyes. Is it really worth it if they massacre it with new battle systems, changes in the storyline(NOOO!), etc. I think I'll stick with the original, besides Cloud and the gang look better in the original, lol. |

| I think it's the best idea to remake FF7, so I am happy with that. It's not like the story will have major changes in plots--- and the characters will be the ones we already know and understood their profile background. It's just a tweak or two of this game environment. It's for PS3, is it? T_T |

well, they said they were going to make it if people wanted it. but, even though people want it, they haven't really worked on it. although, there was a trailer of FF7 at the end of Crisis Core. would that be saying something?  |

I absolutely agree with Lubu-san & Jonathon-san! Those who have seen AC & want to play FF7 just for the updated in graphics should be ashamed of themselves. Graphics do not make a game. Those people had plenty of chance to play the game when it came out....& if they weren't satisfied with it then well a remake won't do it either. Would it be nice to see it done...i guess....but i for one don't want to see it done. It was an experience back then when i first played it & another version probably won't feel the same. You lose all that excitement & emotion of the game seeing it for the first time. It won't be a shock to see Aerith sacrifice herself....or be in awe when you saw Knights for the first time or the many incarnations of Bahamut. Having add extra content to make up for it seems pointless. Unless they are something spectacular.... Unfortunatley knowing Square now i feel they will make it a reality one of these days. Not presently but maybe in the near future. Or if they see their profits go down they'll rush the project which won't be a good thing anyways. Lately they seem to be milking their franchise just to make more money & that for me makes their games below average...not like they use to be.  |

People are expecting so much with a remake that you have to understand how hard it is to make FFVII a success again... Crisis Core's FFVII ending is no "Trailer"... Like I have said: "And we know that Crisis Core officially ends where FF7 starts..." What does the fan base really expecting? An overhaul of everything from the environments to the character models? With Square-enix's (well... even before they were SE...) past remakes. If they would release an FFVII remake... I'm expecting what I've seen so far... It probably would still look like the 1997 game except with new CG animations, new "smoother" animations, and thats pretty much it... (Only remake that seemed it had a massive update was FF3) They'll have to consider adding new content all the while still retaining the old FF game... If the fan base was expecting an FFVII with PS3 graphics... It would take a production similar to making a new FF game. (And thats saying alot considering how much a PS3 game production costs...) So lets not expect anything until they say something first... Like let's say: "Final Fantasy VII for the PS3 to be announced" Kneel Before the Great and Benevolent Cow! |

ok after following what has been said, ive come to two conclusions: For all of us who have seen AC including me, just want the remake for the graphics and possibly new features but think about it...square might be having us go crazy but what if AC was the remake and the tech demo was just a way to show how ff7 would be in better graphics? 2: I think that square should just bluntly tell us if they are going to make a remake or not instead of having us debating with each other and causinghypethatsnot needed Part of the new age Gendou RP veterans: Kira, Rukia, KM Revolution, Smoker, Avian, L, and Ryu. |

| If it's really a waste of production money for making FF7 tech demo, they should not done it in the first place, due to the team's doubts. But I would definitely want Square Enix to remake FF7--- I expect more than just improved graphics, I expect 'revisited' kind of thing--- it's fun to watch the story all over again! It's not like we remember every single plot within the game! And since it might release on PS3, the game is all in ONE Disc! Remember that the 1997 FF7 game consists of 3 discs, for God's sake!!! And there was one time my brother nearly lost one of the discs! It's really hectic! |

@w00t0s. Honestly it's not as hectic as you think. Having siblies that can lose disks is a problem but I have no problem with more then one disk. Did you not like Resdient Evil 4 for the Gamecube because it had more then one disk? On topic: I have to agree with Lubu-san & Jonathon-san. While it would be nice to see the game updated graphiclly. They would proably change the battle system for a more...how should I put it...."simple minded" audience. But honestly if they would remake it and didn't change the battle system I would want them to update all the old FF games. But of course would it have the same effect? Proablly not. So I'd be agaisnt it.

| @dark stranger- I never played GameCube in all my life. I am a PS and PS2 user. Oh yeah, I do agree that Square Enix must put some effort in improving graphics~~~ BUT I prefer the Battle System to stay AS IT IS!!! I seriously dislike FF12 Battle System--- it's a messy version of Kingdom Hearts Battle System and it is mostly creates a lot of fuss (And heck, you can't even use Espers properly via that system!!!) And that Battle System is not 'Simple-minded audience friendly', I should say that. Remake does not have to put a lot of things under consideration in massive changes! As long SE thinks that any significant things that SHOULD put under changes necessary, this would prevent any distortion of the whole FF7 game. |

| I'd like to see a remake, but i'd prefer to have quite a few extra's before I'd think of buying it like the option of Re-Fighting previous bosses for fun, additional differculty modes and a updated Chocobo racing part accessible outside the main game for a possible multi-player element. |

Oh yes... By the way... I know some people hated AC's English dubs... Well be prepared for that if you want a PS3 remake... Since its almost dead certain it will be dubbed Kneel Before the Great and Benevolent Cow! |
