Boy i've been away for a week & so much has happened in the World Cup, some good some bad some ugly. So i'll do a quick run down on what i thought of some of the elite teams as well as suprises. Germany - they looked so good in their opening match but i think they got frustrated in the second game. They are a very young team so experience may not be there with them as of yet. This is where having Ballack would help. Also the way the game was refereed kinda ruined the flow of the game. The dismissal of Klose although marginal was fair. Klose already had a yellow so kinda makes me wonder why he wasn't more careful. Brazil - the first game they took the North Koreans lightly, against the Ivory Coast they showed why they are world class. Ivory Coast is no slouch & Brazil made them look amateurish. To the point of being sore losers. The last half of that game made me sick the way the Ivory Coast played. That red card on Kaka was a JOKE!!! That kinda stuff is what prevents this game from being awesome. You guys know what i'm talking about. Italy - ummm can the real Italian team show up..what i've seen so far makes me question if this is really the team that won this 4 years ago! Spain - after a rocky start they are heading in the right direction though they did waste oppurtunities in the game against Honduras. Portugal - well they didn't fall for the Koreans defensive style like Brazil did, it was men against boys in this match. Looks like they booked their ticket & escaped the 'Group of Death'. Argentina - much better against S.Korea, though Messi has yet to score he has played unbelievable. Other Teams USA - very impressive coming back & had a chance to win if it weren't for a 'bonehead' call from the ref. England/France - Looks like they will be eliminated unless something miraculous happens. The english just can't score goals while France....lets just say that team is disfunctional to put it lightly. Netherland/Paraguay - underrated teams that may come out of the shadows & win this tournament...they aren't getting the recognition that they deserve. Suprise Team New Zealand!!!??? WHAT THE F**K!! - this team is ranked 78th & in 2 games have played very well. They pushed Slovakia & held their own against Italy. They have a chance to make it into the elimination rounds which feels like a win for this country & their soccer program. Very impressed with the way they played so far. WTF Moments This & This |

Wow! Thanks for sharing those videos. Really loved those "WTF" / "LOL" moments. But man, the first video was painful, I had a similar experience to him (difference is that my ligament tear occur around the knee). His ligament must've torn from the tackle and he continued to play on. I seriously know how he felt when his legs gave way. |

@ Unico-san Actually the first vid may be the worst one of all the ones we see....what was WTF about the play was he 'dived' trying to draw a penalty. If you saw the Italy/Paraquay game in real time he basically tripped over nothing. He wasn't hurt he didn't tear anything or break anything. It was a shameless attempt by De Rossi i believe his name is to gain an advantage in a close game. Stuff like this ruins the game & i wish video replay is used to snuff out crap like this. I suggest the governing body of the World Cup replay games to find the 'diving' & announce the culprit have a yellow card like any other penalty. Getting two will get you a red card & a game suspension. That way players will think twice about doing this sort of thing. |

So now matches are running parallel huh? Izumo: You're right- England and France needs a miracle lol- their spirits have been so low! Hope England does well tomorrow then. Lol i dunno about the commentary in your areas ha ha but in our ones they replayed the Kaka incident and other diving incidents many times to name and shame xD I think the usually popular teams are upping their game a bit mroe now. Congrats on the Argentine win (Argentinian??) anyways- can't wait to watch more matches :3 Oh P.S: Some of our footy was cut >< our government ran a special news interruption on some new public budget cut stuff [haiz] it was the Mexico match- what were the scores? |

Jumping late into this thread Supporting the U.S. and any underdogs lol. On a side note I got a quick interview in Japan where they were asking who they thought was gonna win the world cup. Since I didn't have the first clue I told em Japan (which drew a laugh and some thanks).

England managed to head out to the next round, still have to pity them. Their next match is going to be an elimination/knockout match against Argentina. Les Blues(FRANCE) is OUT! Sad that South Africa is out too, if only they didn't lose to Paraguay the match before. European teams are subsiding. World Cup is turning into Copa America. |

Brazil's match against Portugal turned out what I had expected, 0 - 0 draw. I was disappointed with Brazil though, they're not adventurous enough. Most of the times, they wouldn't attack. |

We will have new champions this year!!! Who would've guessed that the defending champs Italy didn't even make it out of the group stage....shocking! Both the champions (Italy) & finalists (France) of the last world cup are ousted...WOW. The Brazil vs. Portugal match was kinda anticlimatic cause they were both going through to the next round. So the match was a 'safe' one for both teams to avoid injuries or yellow/red cards. The only way Portugal was going to be eliminated was if Ivory Coast can score 9 goals agains North Korea!!! Not going to happen. The Ghana-nians played a very good match against a game US squad. Both had chances to win the match, Ghana just had better fortune today. Don't worry Mokona-san the English have a chance against the Germans. Remember the Germans did lose to an inferior Serbian squad in the group stage (with the help of poor officiating) but a loss is still a loss. If the English squad can frustrate the Germans like the Serbian team they can come out with the win. The only thing that worries me about the Germans is their youth & inexperience...which can lead to frustrations if things don't go their way. My darkhorse team to win the tournament is the Dutch/Netherlands. I'm suprised they aren't getting the recognition that they deserve....they basically plowed through their stage with relatively ease, scored quite a few goals, & if you have seen them play are fundamentally sound in all aspects of the game. They have yet to play 'their game' which is different from other top end teams is that they aren't afraid to go on the offensive with any of their positions. They can rotate their posistions (a defender can be a striker, a midfielder a defender, a striker a midfielder etc...) since every player can play different positions. That sort of unorthadox style can be thing to make the Dutch a scary team to be reckon with. Spain & Brazil will have to eventually meet, Spain was fortunate to not face them this round thanks to their win over Chile. If they have come in second in the group we would see a Spain vs. Brazil this round!!!! |

BAM! England got spanked by Germany, 4 - 1. Okay englishmen, there's your economy flight back home. Didn't really expect them to lose that bad, would be hoping they would get to meet Argentina during the eliminations. |

Very very disappointing performance. Their defense is so loose on the counter-attacks. Even if the Lampard goal was allowed so what? 4-2 They still need 2 goals to get into shootout and you know the Germans are good at it (well, they created it ._.) They should have clamped the players tight but they only did so after conceding the 2 goals. Owh~ well... |

Argentina's next battle against the Germans! I'd say VIVA LA ARGENTINA all the way! Tonight's match between Portugal and Spain will be interesting and awesome (provided that both teams give it their all) EDIT: Here's a LOL video I would like to add concerning the World Cup, |
