If I go to bed at a decent hour tonight, I should be able to make it at it's original time...hopefully. xD

I just posted my latest works on U Draw :)
here

This week's meeting was quite fun though I felt like I was being interrogated at some points of the conversation. More or less I became the main artist for the sprites. I'll try to submit some sketches within the week.

@Mokona: thanks for pming the story to me ^^

@ All: Ah, forgive me if you noticed I wasnt on time on last Saturday's meeting. Ugo was entertaining guests, crashed early in the morning, and awake at 9 AM (when I'm supposed attend the meeting at 7 AM in my time) Many, Many apologies to those I may have inconvenienced by my little mistake. *bows*

Though the storyboard dept wasnt all there, we managed to get a few things down. According to the meeting-

We:

Determined the setting would be in a fictitious medium-small sized city in the eastern United States (the new England area). (this was largely for the sake of determining the type of architecture for buildings in the VN)

Darky is at the moment declared as head of the art department. Furthermore, I declare that the Art and Storyboard Departments to be considered "active".

Likely there will be no school uniforms for the sprites.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
About Times
As touched before, there seems to be some oomfs related to the meeting times. Kindly request any time changes any attendee may need within the week.
Despite the little time accidents, most surely next saturday's meeting will be dedicated to the story. All storyboard department members have one more week to work on their arc proposals.
@ Darky: You indeed have knowledge with CG's. I'm thankful you volunteered you're time for the fleeting art department. As for me... My strongest point is in doing anything head/face related.
Ah! That Fumitake Moekibara artbook I spoke about came in on the very same day of the meeting. Despite some major blushing... I'm getting a healthy dose of useful insight in proportions.
Thanks for going out of the way to post them. *Still shuddering at the thought of asking the U-Drawers to recruit*
@ Terror: I'm sure Basil touched on this before. So if this wasnt just answered amongst PM's I'll restate it. I'd say I strongly recommend to you at the very least consider helping out coding. I've already seen you know how to get the basics, so I believe Terror is a very suitable addition to the coding team.
It's still you're choice, however I feel that you would be more than helpful. (Since even I cant fathom how you make all the stuff in that demo happen.) ^^'
It's not so hard to do the little things, but menus and "jump" to "label" is proving to be my most annoying problem thus far. Considering I do find this coding bit a bit easy (lol), I'll give the coding team a try. I think I might drop the music involvement since I think my methods for music making is more troublesome than it need to be (though I have a "lullaby" loop which I'm proud to share if you need something like that), but I still want my bid in voicing someone. xD
So coding and VA then (and random idea interjections, lol). :3
As for time, I would appreciate if it started an hour or two later that it does now. <_< I can make it at the time we have it now, but it's a bit easier if it were later. >_<
-------------------------------------------------
Edit: An idea if I'm doing coding. When we get far enough along, it would be nice if the story writers could write in the basic code form so we could just copy/paste the dialog and narration in and get right to work on the harder parts. Script language is basically a letter or abbreviation for a person's name then what they say in quote marks. For narration, you simply neglect to add a letter to the start of the quote.
For example:
a=Aya
L=Lax
"Archon Mall"
a "Hmm, I wonder where I should go first..."
a "I still want that dress at XYZ, but I don't have the money for it."
a "Damn it! If I could just..."
L "Aya?"
"Aya turns around to find Lax standing behind her."
a "Hmm? Oh, Lax. What are you doing here?"
L "Eh...I'm just looking for some supplies for a friend. You?"
etc.
Simple enough no? Again, it would help if this was already in place so it's copy/paste and straight onto voices/sprite motions/etc. (For instance, changing Aya's mood from a "happy I'm shopping" sprite to a "angry" one between the 2nd and 3rd lines.) There's some other little easy tricks (such as requiring multiple clicks to get through a line of dialog; a pause)that I'm sure can be added by the writers, but I'll keep it easy for now. xD
Sudden thought, is this going to be in English English of American English?
Re: Gendou - Visual Novel Project
It's the USA, so it should be American English. If you're only proofreading (looking that the first post), I doubt there would be much issue...
@ Terror: Yeah, that seems to be a real god idea for helping move development a little faster. I'll make sure to adress it at the meeting.
As for time... An hour could be acceptable. But I also'll need to consider the members who go to the meetings right before sleep. I'll put up 3 PM GMT as an possible reschedule time. (any objection everyone?)
@ Leo: Welcome! Joining the forum just for a single project FTW! Please note your other music department members (listed in the first post). I'm more than open to any questions you may have.
@ Weezze: I cant really tell the difference between American to English-English... Is American English basically English with all the slang terms?
@ Darky: Ah-... if you feel a little cornered when I'm talking go ahead at shout out. I'll make sure to back off a little. :D
(or is English English like, English in the United Kingdom?)
@Ugo - I believe they are talking about UK English (UK, Canada) and American English. Just small things like:
Color and Colour
Armor and Armour
Honor and Honour
along with phrases or word differences. The main difference between the two are the names for things, such as the sport of Football (which to North Americans is the game involving people tackling eachother, while Europeans know it as the game where you kick the ball around). That's a basic idea of the differences, there's no real need to go into depth about all of the differences between the two forms since you will most likely go with the American form.
I would assume you'd want to go with the American form of English.
If you're moving the meeting times up from 2GMT to 3GMT then I'm afraid I won't be able to attend them (maybe every now and then). I don't have a major role in things, so I won't exactly be a big loss, but when any of the departments I'm in becomes active then I will make sure to attend all of them.
As you all know, I've missed the meeting due to a trip that I was openly against. If you don't know that, Mokona might have not told you all. I doubt that's the case.
Now to my main point - I will be unable to make programs on my own, as to some reason my Ren'Py engine won't run properly. Wait, scrap that - it won't run in the first place. I only get an error message whenever I try to run it.
However, I could write codes which I will pass on to those who have the engine, and with that said, Terror comes into mind.
@Terror
If you could spare some time, I'd appreciate it if you would receive some test codes I'll write to determine if we could use variables to enable the player to access a different route once the game is finished n times, since my engine won't run.
@Basil: What exactly is your error message? Does the code editing program pop-up saying various lines are wrong for w/e reason? I get that a lot. <_< Just have to figure out what you're doing wrong, fix the code, and then it should work.
If you're getting something else, then that's a real issue. Maybe re-download the files and give those a try; otherwise, idk. >_<
As for testing for a possible way to do the loop/remember-who-you've-done idea, I've tried writing a simple 3 person scenario to test some ideas, but I can't figure out my errors in the code. <_<
Edit: Also, if you want me to look/test/run/whatever your scripts, email them to me under the title "GVN" and I'll look at them. Email is in my profile. xD
Well, whenever I try to run the program, the error message "renpy.exe has stopped working" will appear IMMEDIATELY, which vexes me. I've tried decompressing the file again, but to no avail.
Hmm, do you use Vista or something? Try changing the compatibility mode in Properties and see if that works. <_<
Email me a script, lemme see if I get a similar problem.
@ Jonathan: Thanks for that. Considering the setting we'll probably go by American English. Though the subtle differences wouldn't be something I could catch. ^^'
@ ALL: Well, considering no one's objected. It looks like the meeting will occur at 3 PM GMT. lets make sure we're all sure about this, since this one will touch on the base of the individual arcs.
This weeks meeting is June 27th, 4 PM GMT. I realize I mistyped to have the meeting set at July 4th. Which is true. Story arc proposals will go on in this and the one this weeks and the one on the 4th.
This ones for people who want to get theirs in early/want to have double checks on coherity of their story proposal/ want to get in discussed early.
I see some of us are already moving forward. I cant offer much more than encouragement. If any of the other departments want me to set up/reserve meeting dates for certain topics, than I'll be more than happy to do so. (Of course, 'm not saying I have to monitor all that happens...) '_'
This is my last week of summer school, so Ugo is open to be around at virtually anytime given you give me at least a few days ahead notice. So yep!
PS
I'll still be on 30 minutes before 3 PM GMT for early birds or people who would not be able to be on at the other time.
Just to note, I'll be gone from the 30th to the 8th or so. My family is taking a trip to California since we need a vacation and I want to go to AX! xD If I see something about VN's, I'll try to see if I can bring back some information.
Re: Gendou - Visual Novel Project
@Ugo- Unless there are people from the UK area in your writing staff then you shouldn't have to worry about catching the differences. Either way, I'm part of the proof-reading group and I tend to use parts of UK English and parts of American English, so I won't have any problems should it happen.
I won't be here for this meeting if that's the starting time, since I'll be out at that point.
