Nice video Ray, too bad you got pegged at the end. Alright, first video, I'll have more on the way once I figure out a solution to my recording problems. The device itself works fine, but I keep having problems with the VCR. For instance, this is Mission 2 of DMC3, I added a song to the background because the VCR apparently didn't record a single bit of audio the entire time I was playing for some unknown reason. I'm ready to put the VCR through the window, first the off sync audio and now simply no audio at all. I think I'll swipe the newer VCR upstairs (or screw it all and buy a DVD recorder in a few weeks). Anyway, this is me playing Devil May Cry 3. Mission 2, Turbo Mode, Unlimited Devil Trigger form of Dante on Super Hard difficulty. I'm using Ebony & Ivory, Kalina Ann, Rebellion and Agni & Rudra. I'm really rusty, I haven't played at that kind of DMC level for about 2 or 3 years (DMC4 had no Turbo mode, and the game was much easier). |

I was hoping to do a walkthrough kind of video series, but I don't think I would get very many "How do you do this?" kind of questions what with walkthrough sites all over the place. |

Woah! Jonathon! that was awesome!! Shame that your vcr recorder didn't record the sound. :[ Regardless, that was really good! Btw, that style was Trickster right? ![]() ![]() |

@Krosis- Thanks. Yeah, the audio would have been nice, although I do kind of agree with Ray, because after a while on the high difficulties (and especially in Turbo mode) the audio just degenerates into a bunch of growling/screaming/HAH! noises. Music is a nice change. Also, no that wasn't Trickster style, it was Swordmaster. I only ever use Swordmaster or Gunslinger, I find Trickster and Royal Guard are nearly useless without the ability to switch to them freely (like he can do in DMC4. Not saying they can't be useful of course, I just personally dislike those styles). Okay, this is (half of) a skirmish mission I played in Valkyria Chronicles to further test my capture device settings. The audio is in this time and it's also synced, but it isn't very loud and there are hiccups from time to time where the audio starts sputtering. I'm not sure if it's all because of my crappy old VCR or only partially because of it. This is just on normal difficulty and taking my time. The only way to get high ranks is to beat missions in a set number of turns, so A ranking missions tends to get boring because all you are doing is setting things up so that you can use a single Scout to run all the way to the enemy base and capture it in 2 turns (and Hard mode is all about finding a trick that lets you beat the mission in a single turn, so those are really uninteresting). I just took my time with this one and went along killing every soldier. I only recorded half of the mission, because the video was already 10 minutes long and it would have taken forever for me to upload the full 25 minute mission from start to finish. I may post up another video of me doing the Vasel Bridge skirmish on Hard, because that's one of the few skirmishes in Hard mode which don't involve simple tricks to beat. |

@Ich- I used a little box I got from the business/PC store here. It's a little USB box that plugs into the computer, and you can connect any device to it that uses AV cables. So I record the gameplay footage using my VCR (I don't have a DVD recorder, although it seems to be a better option because my VCR is junk >.>) and play it back when the VCR is connected to the box, that lets me capture the video using the little program that comes with it. The DVD recorder may be a better option, and I may get one sometime soon because the box is kind of an HDD hog. Those 10 minute videos use up like 600megs until I compress them in a different format, so I usually have to delete the original video which is kind of risky since something may be wrong with the converted one. There's one of a few ways you can do this: 1. Get a camcorder($200-$800)/HQ webcam($50-$90)/or good digital camera($120-$250) and just set it up somewhere pointed at your screen - This is probably the most affordable method if you already have one of those common family devices, but it gives the poorest quality especially in terms of audio. 2. DVD Recorder ($90-$140) - Haven't tried it yet, but it would probably give you the best quality since it's a direct capture in a digital format, and not an 'analog to digital' converted format. Kind of an expensive option once you count in the fact you'll need to buy DVD-R's all the time, or get DVD-RW's and spend a lot of time erasing them and re-using them, as well as ripping the video from the disc. 3. VHS-DVD Converter ($60-$80) - This is what I have and it goes for about 60 dollars on their website or ï¿¥9,800 on the Japanese page(Paying the same either way what with exchange rates and shipping). This works well and might be the cheapest method if you find a good price on it like I did, saves about 40 or 50 dollars on a DVD recorder. The quality of your recording using this method is really determined by how good your VCR is, if it's a piece of junk like mine then you could get videos without audio, video, off sync audio (just to name a few personal experiences). If you have a relatively new VCR then you shouldn't have a problem and the video will come out fine. You can also hook up your game system directly too the box and into your computer. Note that you will be playing on a little screen on your monitor. I haven't noticed any button lag using this method, however the program has trouble sometimes keeping up with the game system and the recording. The recording will always come out fine, however the video you see while recording may get choppy sometimes (I noticed that games like Sonic Unleashed [Demo], DMC3 and even a slower game like Parasite Eve didn't fare well, but Xenosaga Episode 1 worked perfectly fine when directly connected). I'm not sure if better computer specs solves this problem or not, but judging by the fact my 2.0ghz Dual Core/3gb RAM/512mb HD ATi Radeon couldn't keep up with the display, then I don't think specs will help too much. 4. Internal Video Capture Card [Desktop Only] (???) - I'm not sure how much these things cost since I didn't do much upgrading to my desktop when I had it due to lack of funds, but I would say it's in the vein of 60 dollars or more for a decent one. This works basically the same as the converter box listed above except for a desktop. From my experience, these fare worse when you directly connect devices to them other than VCR's or TV's. Unless you have a powerful Desktop, it's probably not a good plan to go this route. Just about every method is going to cost you some cash unless you already have one of the devices listed. The only reason I got the box is because I charged to a credit-like card that the store I went to has. So I can pay about 15 dollars a week and have it paid off before any interest rates get tacked on by the end of the month. Okay, I think this time I have all bugs and audio problems worked out. Me playing the second last boss battle in Legend of Dragoon. If anyone is wondering why the second last boss is doing little more than scratching Meru and Haschel's armor, it's because I have my main three characters just about maxed out (the level cap in LOD was 50) and they have their best armor. So they are kind of overpowered. As for Dart, well, he's nearly maxed out in level and has the two ultimate pieces of armor equipped, so anything short of a SCUD missile to the face will just tickle him. (Whew, that was a long one. -_-;) |

Haven't posted in a while. @Ray- I'm sort of interested in M.A.G, but I want to wait and see if the servers and game can hold up under the pressure of that many players at once. If it works out well I will be getting that game no doubt, but for now I'm going to wait and see until the launch week is over with. I recently got a DS. I only have four games for it so far (I was borrowing my sisters DS until now), so Pokemon Platinum is the only online game I've got. If anyone is up for trades or battles then let me know. Also, any Killzone 2 owners up for a match at some point? Bots were put back in a while ago. |

I haven't touched LBP in forever. I kind of lost interest when they started taking down any level that even came close to resembling something from another franchise (Mario, R-Type, etc). |

I watched it live. The only games on Sony's part I had interest in were God of War 3, Uncharted 2, The Last Guardian and possibly Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (since it doesn't involve anything MGS4 related). I was getting slightly interested in FFXIV until the "Online" thing popped up underneath it. Figures the new FF game Square puts out that I take slight interest in turns out to be a second attempt at FFXI. |

Been a long time since i last posted here. Recently finished the game Cross Edge obtaining the True Ending, now working on the post game stuff. Recently i got pawned by one of the bosses in this post game, didn't guess there would be a level 500 monster while i was at a flimsy level 120. Got killed in one round!! Now i have to do some grinding. Btw fighting these bosses can only be obtained when playing on hard mode....some enemies are just too overpowered! Next up is Fate/Unlimited Codes. Recently downloaded the game & it's pretty fun. Not as sophisticated than other fighting games...pretty simplistic if you really think about it. However it is this simplicity that gives it its charm. There is alot of stuff to do in the game from the arcade mode which adds new story elements to the original visual novel. A mission mode that tests your gaming ability, galleries to unlock, character models, & of course secret characters (which are easy to get btw). Also seeing the special moves like excalibur & UBW is cool. Finally is BlazBlue...after much consideration i picked up a copy. I liked the original Guilty Gear franchise but thought some aspects of the game were really hard to understand. BlazBlue has alot easier learning curve. Arksys Works has made a great 2D fighter...just like GG, BB has great visuals from the backgrounds to the wacky character designs. Haven't gotten into the story mode yet since i bought it 2 days ago. Getting to know the characters in the practice modes for now...i loved Jam from GG so Miss Lichi was the first character i tried, she's a good character but i found myself loving Tao!!! She's probably my fave character in the game. Which brings me to the voice acting...BlazBlue has probably the BEST english dub in a fighting game...perhaps maybe EVER! I saw some Youtube videos especially the "Teach me Miss Lichi (Booby Lady!)" & they were absolutely hilarious! I'm eager to actually get into the story mode! ![]() |
