I am glad that I made it into the finals, thanks everyone. I'm also relieved that the deadline has been moved back. lol, aww~ It's always a good opportunity to learn from the experience and improve! And as long as you had fun, I think that makes it rather worthwhile. I took a very long time to improve, so I can understand when it gets confusing or you're not so sure about what to do. And it's too bad that the "koi ni ochite mo" thing couldn't get fixed, since that sort of thing sometimes sticks out. Mmm~ lol, with that buzzing, you could open something like Audacity to take a sample of it (without any talking or singing in the background) and remove it from the rest of the clip. It does a decent job. (I'm overall less familiar with the function on Audacity, though, in comparison to Cool Edit). But you know? You're pretty good, still. |

Aweeee OMG already finals???? I knew that i couldn't make it against Shioyee, she's so damn good!!! *_* Thank you to all the judges!!! I had so much fun and it was an honor to compete with such amazing singers!!! Everyone did such a good job! oh well except me, mine was horrible hahaha!! ç_ç Congratulations to the finalists, wow this is the "creme de la creme"!!! OMG this is gonna be really tough, can't wait to hear all the entries!! Sakuraneko>>> Sankyu so much, i need so much practice to improve, i really lack on techniques... ç_ç mmmh... i didn't get the expression thing, sorry, i'm a bit dummy hehe! About the koi ni ochite mo thing, i noticed it before but i didn't have time to change it.. haha! Uh about that horrible fuzz... it's caused by my mic that has in automatic the reverb/echo effect, which causes the continuous bzz, hehe sorry for that! |

I'm here, I'm here. I finally got the PC's internet to work properly. Soooooooo, I binged on this stuff tonight. It was chou~ lovely. So many different voices. I'm not sure how Pame would feel if I posted my comments straight out here on my own, but everyone's waiting, right? So I think I will.. just do that. (Hope you don't mind, Pame!) Sorry mine seem to be pretty.. long... I forgot we were judging multiples at once. Bear with me here; I really wanted to try and note on some places that could use improvements (well, in my opinion, right? o_o;; ). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ engel Oh.. an interesting song choice. Your vocals seem rather captivating around the chorus, although the instruments sort of drown you out a little, too! ;-; It took me a little while to adjust to your vocals themselves to this sort of song (I've never heard your singing before, but I just meant the style you were using). They pick up a certain strength as the song goes on. (I'd be a little careful about the soft-singing parts as they seemed to have a "nyeh~" sound. This isn't a bad quality, but too heavy on the soft parts could sacrifice that stronger tone in y your vocals.) So, I'm somewhat ambivalent about the match, but I can't say it's bad. ;D The technical quality isn't bad either, though you could use a bit of reverb (and the aforementioned balancing so your wonderful vocals don't get drowned out), I think, to soften it up just a bit; that's all just for effect, though and probably a personal opinion anyways~ I briefly caught an almost straying note around 2:40, though, but that was really all that I caught. o^o Good job!! This sounds like a tough song. @_@; ----------------- erkun Something that stood out was the quality of the instrumentals and the recording itself. Are you using sometihng vocally dampened? It can be a bit disadvantage in a sense, and destroy some of the kick and strings (guitar/acoustics). At times, the instrumentals seem to almost drown you out. Looking past that, you have a rather smooth voice, hahaha. Great for this sort of tempo, but I also feel you could have added more dynamic to the song~~~ ;3; My choice between the two: engel ********************************************************* miky Uwa, uwa~~<3 This song, this deceivingly difficult song. *-* So many singers with warming, smooth voices here. o.o; I can hear a sort of tender expression (or am I just listening way too hard?). And it isn't as though you were completely following through Utada's expressions, either. :'3 There was a brief moment where you sang "kyoi ni ochite mo" (between 1:11 and 11:13 and at 3:20 or so; when it was "koi ni ochite mo". I only know from being familiar with this song, haha. When your vocals start, I can sort of hear a slight, very, very subtle fizzing sound, but it isn't that big a deal, as the vocals overall are very clear. I did hear a brief bump sound somewhere near the beginning, though, but that didn't really distract me as much as I make it seem. There's also just the right touch of reverb, too. I'm impressed (because I seriously can't mix). The 2:36 "hyeah-y-yeah-y-yeah~" was pretty awesome. XD; Great job, overall. :3 ----------------- Shioyee ;3; Shioyeeeeeee... I've heard this song before. Of course your vocals have a different quality from the original, but they have their own playful flavor. I was almost doubtful at first. Almost. It's so easy-going. Very suited for this song-type. Nice addition of harmony and backvocals, too. o_o;; .. And energy... @_x; I should emphasize that the harmonizing you did in this song really gave it a nice kick. T-This song is hard, too. And catchy. You really put a different sort of life into this song and deviate from the original in a rather tasteful manner. (Slight, faint buzzing at the end of the song, though, but not distracting.) My choice between the two: Shioyee ********************************************************* Creed The first thing I noticed was the click and a certain "bzzz"... and then a slightly additional "bzzz" from your vocal track, I think? It's lightly distracting. (Wait, who's playing the piano? It kind of seems like.. it was recorded as someone was playing. I sort of wished they'd tell us where you guys are getting your instrumentals from so I'd know if it were live playing or something.) Moving on from that: deep, and powerful vocals. I've never heard "Last Song" sung in this manner, it's a very interesting experience to hear it in ballad form. But I would be careful about adding so much J-rock-stylizations into a ballad-type of song, even if it's derived from a J-rock-esque song. At 3:33, something happened for a split moment. That was odd. o.o; I'd be a little careful about the balance of the vocals as well. Usually I use Dynamic Processing of a sort to fix that on my own vocal tracks~ Your vocals are very strong and expressive, though. ----------------- Minatsuchan Ah, when the instrumentals came up, I was like: H-huh, this is a catchy, unique song. o_o; Excellent balance of vocals with the instrumentals, though sometimes the piano is pretty loud (with an edge to it). I think there's a certain effect with that. And impressive range, reaching the high notes and the lower. The beat and pattern of the song seem hard, relating this to an experience of mine singing a song with a sort of beat I had to keep with the syllables of the lyrics almost in brief, mild runs (and that can get messy if one doesn't keep some control there). Overall, it's pretty entrancing. Actually.. as I keep listening, it really has this Utada Hikaru flavor in general (the instrumentals and backvocals' style). I went and looked it up and I was right, hahaha. Utada songs are pretty hard to cover... nice job~ Though I can hear the Utada Hikaru-ness in it, your vocals overall keep your own style while meshing well with the song. My choice: Minatsuchan ********************************************************* Drather Huh, where have I heard this song before? You have a pretty unique-sounding voice, yet with that warm quality. It feels very homey, in a sense? It matches well with this song. Initially it felt like you were going to run out of air, but as it went on, that faded away. But when you add a little too much "umph" in your voice, it loses that gentle, homey feeling I sort of like. On the technical aspect, though a some points you almost seem as though you were going to be drowned out, it wasn't a problem. Clear vocals~~ There could be more feeling in this, though, and expressiveness. ----------------- Ryoko Uwaa, I've sung this song before when I was .. what.. 16? 17? I can't even remember, it was so long ago. You start off with a nice, soft (yet strong) tone, though suddenly you swapped to a belting, powerful-type without too much of a transition. *-*;; The first tone I heard would also be effective in expressing this song, but the power voice works as well so long as there's a transition. Nice addition of backvocals, by the way. And "mm"s at the end. XD; (Oh, there was a puff at 3:04. ;3; ) Choice: Ryoko |

******************************* JUDGE SAKURANEK0 Kero vs Kohana Results: Kero: A very distinct quality to your vocals, although I wonder what you're recording with, as it sounds slightly .. not sure how to explain this sort of rough, technical quality thing or if it's a result of a filter. Overall, though, aside from it, the vocals themselves have a nice flavor. I might object slightly to your choice of song, it doesn't seem to go extremely well, although the chorus is rather feeling~ Kohana:A warming quality to your vocals, although the reverb is a little heavy and there some parts of peaking. I believe at some parts where you try the stylization, it's a little messy, but I only heard an instance of it. I'll have to also complain a little in that it felt a bit unfeeling towards the feelings of the song. I didn't feel too much of an expressing of the song's message (whichever interpretation of someone being one's first love may be) until the final chorus. But, you know, this is a rather difficult song, as well. Utada songs are definitely hard to cover, so I applaud you for taking up such a challenge. Kero hs the vote. THE REST OF HER RESULTS WILL BE EDITED LATER. *************************** JUDGE EVE Kero vs Kohana Result: Kero you reminded me of Pame's beginnings which means you have a brilliant future ahead of you. Just keep practicing. On the other hand, Kohana's voice is well educated and was technically better and pleasant to hear. My choice is Kohana Erkun vs Engel Result: Erkun, pretty voice but you could have picked a better song especially being the semifinals. You just have to give more of yourself into the song. I have no complaints about your voice, It;s very impressive. Engel, I'm picking you for a slightly difference. To me, it was a tie but what made me decide for you was the heart you put into the song. Choice: Engel Shioyee vs Miky Result: Shioyee, the song you picked was not "The" song but you made it yours. Bravo! Miky, wow...same song as Kohana. Really nice interpretation but I think you can do better. Choice: Shioyee Minatsuchan vs Creed Result: Mina, good luck in finals! My only recomendation, pick a killer a song *winks. Creed, I liked the chorus but the rest of the song sounded to fake to me, like you were trying to mimic a voice, when you have a pretty nice natural voice. Drather vs Ryoko Result: Drather, not a good song for your voice, I mean it is challenging to sing a song from the opposite sex but I don't think this was the best interpretation I've heard from you. Ryoko, scary good. Good luck in finals. ************************** CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED ON THE DEATH MATCH AND CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR FINALISTS! THE BEST OF THE BEST...LET'S SEE IF YOU CAN HANDLE THE FINALS... KOHANA ENGEL SHIOYEE MINATSUCHAN RYOKO ALL GIRLS...WHAT HAPPENED TO THE GUYS? XDDD anyway... PLEASE....EACH FINALIST...PICK YOUR HELPER JUDGE, THE PERSON THAT WILL HELP YOU TAKE THE MAIN TITLE AS THE WINNER! YOUR OPTIONS ARE: JUDGE LAWSON JUDGE EVE JUDGE SAKURANEKO JUDGE PAME JUDGE NANO HURRY AND PICK THE JUDGE YOU BELIEVE WILL HELP YOU THE MOST WITH THEIR VOCAL QUALITIES AND KNOWLEDGE. GOOD LUCK ON FINALS! |
