JUDGE LAWSON SUK: You have a soothing voice, with a nice, subtle vibrato. Your tone is nice, and you hit the notes well. I would like you to interpret the song more, instead of singing it exactly like the Beatles. A few things you copied exactly, like the "tuuuuuuurn yooooooooou ooooooon" and you didn't pull them off too well. You should make sure to get enough air to hit the high note in the middle of the song cleanly. Rennette: You have a pleasant voice, and hit all your pitches well. You could sing with more expression, add some dynamics and brighten the tone a bit. At times it sounded more like talking on pitch than singing. Winner: SUk ********************* JUDGE NANO SUK LOL. Wow. How original is that? It was very entertaining, so I thank you for that. Vocally, I can't quite I saw the quality of the mixing, and the mic was very good. sometimes, your voice went too bright and peaked and it took away from your performance,But that aside, I love your vocals here. I'm not sure how you would sound with any other type of song, but you really fit this song to the 'T'.You gave a nice Lennon type of feel. And you managed to change your voice quite drastically in the McCartney part! The trumpet was awesome. Good pitch, good rhythmical sense. RENETTE A Xmas song in April? It's very fresh.Speaking of fresh, that would be a great word to describe your vocals.Very crisp, clear, and cute. You have a more original voice then the other's I've heard this season.I don't quite know if it's because you're singing in comfortable english, or not, however.Your singing could use a little more work, but overall, you gave the song a very fitting, nice feel.Good job. MY CHOICE (Again, very very hard to choose): SUK ********************* JUDGE JOSE SUK: Ha! Top-notch stage presence (as always), great tone, solid interpretation, lovely "trumpet" playing. Rennette: Lovely "Cindi Lauper"-style vocals, nice interpretation, good intonation. Winner: SUK ***************** JUDGE PAME Suk I looove what you do to every song you perform...you make it totally yours and adding unique style to it. You have tremendous potential! I really enjoyed the voice changes you did throughout the song. Great interpretation, Awesome pitch and tone. You did a wonderful job. Rennette: You have a very relaxed, warm, sweet tone in your voice and it really shows during this song. Your technique is very precise! You have a very unique voice which I enjoyed listening in this song. I would have liked a little bit of variation in your voice. But Overall, you did an awesome job. Winner: Suk ***************** JUDGE EVE (No vote this round) Suk The Beatles uh? You are brave...Covering the Beatles bring two results...it Sucks...or it is good...there is no in between so so...But let me bring the good news...you did it good! Rennette: I liked the way you sang the song, very original by the way, but I got bored at the end...it was the same thing during the whole song. You have a good voice and great potential so try adding dynamics to the song. ****** POPULAR VOTE: RENNETTE BENFOK VS MINATSUCHAN ENJOOOOY! AND VOOOOOTE |

and finally...WE HAVE THE RESULTS FOR THE 8TH MATCH AND THE LAAAAST MATCH UP FOR THE PRELIMINARIES!! PREPARE FOR SEMIFINALS JUDGE JOSE (LAST JUDGING IN THE COMPETITION) Benfolk: Excellent and sweet tone, with good vibration and interpretation - needs much more breath support, however. MINATSUCHAN: Lovely tone, excellent low notes and good agility, nice harmonies, though gets a bit flat on the higher notes. Winner: MINATSUCHAN ****************** JUDGE NANO BENFOK: These types of songs are my personal favorite to listen too, I'm a sucker for minor, emotional melodies.I think though, that this particular song could either turn out to be a very good song choice or a very bad song choice - just because it's a soft type of song - it escalates at the chorus, but since the rest is quite soft, you'd have to put a little more 'oomph' into then the rest of the song in order for it to stand out and grab the listener's heart.Your vocals in the technical aspect were good. Pitch is great, breath-work is great, and it sounds like your pronunciation and annunciation is great as well - but your vocals are lacking a lot of the strength that this song requires, I think. It's the kind of quiet strength that I'm yearning to hear :) Good job over all. MINATSUCHAN: Oooh, another minor emotional song. A very good match, in my opinion.I really love your annunciation when you sing. It's clear, but not overly exaggerated either.Your vocals here *can* use some practice and work but... something about this recording grabs my attention and I can say sincerely that I enjoyed listening to it from start to finish.I can hear kindness in your singing, but it's not weak. There's still a human behind it :")Work on a little more strength, and you should be fine.Very good job. My choice: MINATSUCHAN *************************** JUDGE LAWSON (No votes this round) Minatsuchan: Your voice is gentle and pleasant. Something other than the breathy tone would be nice to hear, to change the dynamics of the song. You can give the your upper range a little more support. Benfok: You have a nice tone, also stayed on pitch well. You could use more support throughout your range, and your vibrato sounds forced. ************* JUDGE PAME Minatsuchan I enjoyed your performance a lot...you have a really warm tone and a soft voice that makes me wanna hear more and more from you. Great work on your intonation, just make sure you don't go flat on some notes Benfok Your manly voice really gets me. I enjoyed your performance. My only concern is that I would like a bit more of umm how to say it? Power? maybe into your voice so in that way it grabs the attention of the listener. My pick: Minatsuchan **************** JUDGE EVE Minatsuchan: I liked it Mina. Nice nice job. Practice a bit more your higher notes and it will sound better. Benfok: I would like more brightness in your voice. Other than that I liked it. I wasn't a big fan of the song choice though. Good job Vote: Minatsuchan ********* POPULAR VOTE: Minatsuchan! NEW JUDGE SAKURANEK0 Ryoko Ah, what a lovely, warm tone~!! It carries a lot of emotion throughout the song. :'3But at the same time, you seem a little out of breath (not seeming to hold the notes out, they seem to be cut prematurely sometimes). I'd be a little careful with belting the higher notes in a sliding fashion (in 1.5 of an instance) and pronunciation. On technicality, there are very brief moments where I can sorttttt of hear you puff on the mic, but it isn't very distracting. At the very end, there's so much power and emotion in your singing. *-* !!! And even some dynamic~But the song suddenly ends! o_o;;3; What happened?? Creed Right at the beginning, I noticed a little be of a quality issue with the instrumental track (it's a little fuzzy), but once your voice comes in, it seems to dissipate, haha. (But was that cough at the beginning intentional?)A very warming tone, a low voice.. and expressive. But I would watch out a little for annunciation. (example: "tonight". You tend to sing it as "to-naiiht" and that seems really distracting out of the whole-sounding of the vowels in the rest of the song. It's something my choir teacher has brought up before. It's stretching the vowel.)Overall, though!! You were able to give the song a catchy, easy-going feel. I sort of go with the beat of the song, haha. It's a bit reminiscent of Michael Bublé, yet you seemed to add a bit of yourself in that. My choice? Pretty difficult, but... Creed gets my vote here. :'3 *************** JUDGE LAWSON Creed: He sounds comfortable throughout the whole song. His pitches are on, and I like his shaky vibrato. I would have liked to hear some variation on the phrasing. It's a really slow version of this song, backphrasing would give it a feeling of movement. Ryoko: has a nice tone in her lower range, and her upper range has good power. She should practice her control as she sings louder. She got pitchy as she went up, and a few notes sounded more like yelling than singing. My vote: Creed ************************ JUDGE PAME Ryoko I enjoyed a lot listening to this...Really good job for the interpretation of the soong. Your emotions were great buut at some parts I believe u went a bit out of control which interfered with your intonation. You have a really warm tone and I love listening to it. Make sure to take care of your high notes, they tend to sound a little bit too forced. Creed: You have a veery nice low voice. You sounded pretty confident which made me want to listen to it more and more. Your intonation was great(Just few weird notes) and I enjoyed your vibratto, but you could work a bit more with it. You gave the song a really nice feeling. Oooh and...was that cough also intentional? Overall..really good job Vote: Creed ********************************* JUDGE NANO RYOKO: You have a very sweet, gentle quality in your voice. I can feel the meaning behind the lyrics through your singing. My critique would be that sometimes (though rarely), you go off pitch when you're reeling back after a push of emotion or energy.I also think, that you're putting in emotion - which is great, but that sometimes, you're putting in the wrong places.I would practice just a bit on proper variation and where it should variate, rather then just putting random emotion here and there :) The ending chorus was wonderful, and the background vocals were a plus. Very sweet performance overall. Good job. CREED: Whenever I read your name, I instinctively expect a voice that sounds majorly hardcore, like the band CREED. haha.Anyways, you have a very sexy voice. *cough*. I mean, you have a very croony, emotional voice. It fits these types of songs very well. I'd love to hear you sing Nat King Cole's "LOVE".In this particular performance, you have some pitchy notes, which could use a bit of practice. And I'd love to hear some more improvement on the vibrato! Something with a little more oomph, would fit your style of singing quite nicely! But that's one of the very unimportant critiques. For a competition though, I think the song choice could have a bit more challenging - Good job overall. MY CHOICE: RYOKO *********************** JUDGE EVE( no votes this round) Ryoko Really nice song. I felt you were forcing your voice too much, also you cut your phrases too sudden, make them a bit longer and it will sound smoother. You got a little pitchy in your higher notes, but I feel you have so much potential, you can do better, maybe this wasn't the right song for you. Creed Wow nice song there. Good job I liked it. Just be careful with some flat notes. I think you sounded good and comfortable, but u were laking a little bit of power. Watch that and you'll do wonderful. POPULAR VOTE: RYOKO PLEASE VOTE FOR ONE OF THE FOLLOWINGS YINZHAO KOUJI RIXENA FA HITOMI ENGEL RENNETTE BENFOK RYOKO |
