@everyone; Ok, another idea came to me for an rp. It is another samurai rp, it is during the time of the shinsengumi period. I won't go too deep into description. But oni will be involve. This is just an idea which is a bit vague at the moment. Once, I got the full story in my mind, I will post it up. When? Most likely around march. Reasons, because I am too busy with work and huge school projects. If you like the idea of Shinsengumi, please comment about it and you hope for it, so I could have some ideas on how to make it interesting. Right now, my mind is too wrap up in school and work to fully think of the full story right now. @Kyosuke; I would join your rp but I can't, sadly. Like I stated, I am too busy with school work. I hope your rp turns out great. @Roxas; your sig...I suggest you take some tutorials. I'm not sure with program you are using. If you are using gimp. Then check out my tutorial thread Here If you are using Photoshop, you can check out my tutorial or PG's Tutorial or Renma's & Toyumi's Tutorial. As for who you want to claim...I would go for Mystogen since I find him awesome in Fairy Tail. Not sure about the other character from Beezlebub. ![]() |

@ Roxas- I don't think this is really the place to be asking about a claim. I mean, it's your claim and not anyone else's, so you should go with whichever character you love, and not with whichever character we love. Also, if you need help with creating sigs and such, then look up some tutorials. Zero listed the ones on Gendou in his posts, but there are tons more on other sites such as deviantArt. If you want help as in someone else making them, then I'm currently open for sig or set requests (But I'm not taking claim requests at the moment). @ Jon- Since Fenris hasn't posted in the Pokemon RP recently, what do you want to do about it? Are you up to continuing it even if it's just the two of us actively posting there, or is there something else you have in mind? I'm up for continuing it, and if the lack of players is a problem, I could always ask Haseo about rejoining the RP since he's somewhat back on the RPing scene here. So, a few posts ago I mentioned having an idea for an RP, and now, I do have an idea. It's a different one from the one I had awhile back, but this one's a bit more thought out and, in my opinion, better and more original than the previous one. I don't want to give anything away about it just yet, especially since I probably won't be able to start it until May because of school. Just posting to get the word out of a future RP from me (Despite the fact that it'll be awhile until it will actually happen >.>). Although, I do have some bad news along with news of this RP. If this one fails in a major sense (For example, if it gets less than a hundred or so posts), then I'm not sure if I'll start up another RP here. My last two RPs here both had less than a hundred posts in each of them, and the one before that barely got above that 100 mark with 102 posts in it. RPing here has been on the decline in a major sense for awhile now, I'm well aware of that, but is a hundred posts really that much to ask for? RPing shouldn't be about starting new ideas then giving up on them when they get "boring." It should be about creating a fondness for the RP, for building upon it until it becomes something so great that you can admire and look back on it, saying that you were a part of this great RP. I feel this way about Free and Dream to this day. It was a great RP, but what made it so great was that all of the players never gave up on it, especially the ones who were there from the beginning like Fenris, Jon, and myself (Or, almost beginning, in Jon's case). Of course, other things like school get in the way of RPing, I understand that very well; but shouldn't stuff like that be managed along with this aspect of giving up on RP's? Manage how many RP's you're in so you can have time for both RPing and schoolwork, so you won't have to give up on an RP because of demands from school or whatever else life may throw at you. I'm sorry it this seems like I'm ranting, but it's just something that I've been thinking about recently and I wanted to get it out here. It's not directed at anyone specifically, it's more of a general statement. Even I can accuse myself of a few things I mentioned in this rant on a few occasions, but the difference in that is that I don't like to make a habit of it. ![]() |

@Jon & Toyumi: I'll think about coming back to the pokemon rp if you two wish to continue with it. I'm not fully back to the community, and I don't know if I will ever devote as much time to this site again. Though I would like to apologize once more for my abrupt leave once more; I'm sorry that I had to leave the 3 of you. Now, I agree with Toyumi. I know that the rp community is weak and has been on the decline for a while now, but we can't expect it to get any stronger if people just stop posting in RPs because of a lack of interest. What we need isn't an influx of new members who have no idea what rping is and decide to start, that won't help anything. What we need, is a solid base of users who can be counted on to see every single rp that they join to the end. The rp isn't as interested as it used to be? Then make it interesting, within the limits of the rp of course. There are so many small things you can do to make an rp more interesting for yourself. As an rper, it can't be all about "me, me, me." You don't need to have that super-awesome, dark, behemoth archetype every single time or at all really. It needs to be about "We." We, as a community. Not "me" as an rper. Like Toyumi, I've started rps myself that have gone no where. Most, if not all of them, have died before 100 posts because of a flimsy fanbase. Every single rper is crucial to the plot. Especially these days, when participation is so low. We can't afford for people to join, become involved in a plot, and just leave. There is always time for you to make a post, even if it isn't long, a short post can have enough umph to progress a storyline. The plot of an rp doesn't make it good or bad, it's the players that decide that. I've left rps that I've lost interest in before too, I'm no saint here. But it's because of this that I advocate more unity in this community. |

@All - I appreciate the empathy from everyone. As I said, I'm feeling a lot better now compared to a few weeks ago. I've pretty much forgotten about it now. I will feel sad and depressed when the time actually comes, but until then, I have way too much about to happen in my life to continue on like I have been for the past while. @Toyumi - I don't really know what to do. I really, really don't want to give up on the RP, because I have been enjoying it. Not only that, but I have so much in mind for that RP that I want to get to. Unfortunately, the members simply aren't there, and while I'm sure we could make it work with only two people, I'm not sure how fun it would actually be. With only two people, there isn't a lot of interaction going on or dialogue being spoken. Attempts to attract new members to the RP have failed to bring in anyone (which I'm surprised about, considering it's Pokemon we're talking about). I'll have to think about what to do over the weekend. @Haseo - It would be great if you would be able to return to the RP. As for how much you will be on the site, I wouldn't worry too much about that if you decided to rejoin. When Fenris was around we only made a few posts a week, so it wouldn't be hard to keep up with. As for the membership issue, I don't think there is really a solution to it. I see a lot of good ideas popping up for RP's (for the most part), but people are simply not interested in sticking with the RP's they join. The only thing that could possibly help with that problem would be to have a system in place where RP'ers can be shut out from joining new RP's if their track record is poor (RP'ers that drop out of RP's often will be locked out of new RP's that start up if the creator wants that for example). Of course, this isn't really possible to implement due to the fact that there are forum rules in place which don't allow that kind of thing. |

@Jonathan Just a penny for thought, but why not make a new rp with one more new rule? A rule stating that only users from Gendou Rp'ers club can join. Or if that somehow violates gendou rules, then why not post the rp signup here on this thread and then make a new thread on gendou city when it's ready to start? I'm against people joining rps if they aren't in this club because I don't know about their experience with rp's nor can I figure out how often they can post. This club gives off the sense of security from what it does. Security that is needed for any RP to finish. ![]() |

After reading both Toyumi's and Haseo's post, I think I also want to apologize, as I suddenly left the RP community during late 2009-2011, due to loss of Internet connection in house, and going to Internet cafes are just too cumbersome. Finally have the Internet back when I started working for it. Don't worry about me dropping out in a middle of a RP unless I lost my Internet connection again or a fail PC, but I do have some concerns. I'm afraid that I will make mistakes in a RP. Plot mistakes, dialogue mistakes etc, or even being 'out of character' in RP. Just like what happened in Every Planet RP. Maybe I will improve over time. But then again, I still doubt my own skills from time to time... Sorry if this somewhat drags the atmosphere even moodier though. Just saying out what's on my mind after RPing a while. @Jonathon: About the track record system, I have no comments. But then again if this system will be implemented somewhere in the future, I'm okay with it. ![]() ![]() |

@Emiya - There's a difference between having to drop out due to factors outside your control and simply dropping out because you have lost interest (particularly without telling anyone). Personally, my only problem with people who stop posting are when they do not inform the person running the RP that they are dropping out. I can accept someone leaving my RP for any reason, so long as they at least tell me about it so that I can move along. @Frozen - While that does sound like a logical suggestion, I don't see it making a difference. I could see it working out if RP's were routinely being left with only Club Members still posting, but to my knowledge, that doesn't happen. Even Club Members drop out of RP's. Edit - That may be true to some extent, although just to clarify, the Pokemon RP has been running for quite some time; however you may notice that it has only had about 4 members for quite some time now (and it currently only has 2). A large number of people have dropped out of the Pokemon RP, and I believe many of them are Club Members. |

@Jonathan Club members drop out of rp's for sure but that doesn't happen as often as non-club members. If you take a look at "Under the Pale blue sky" and your pokemon rp, those two have been the longest lasting rp's I've seen in my two years of Gendou rping. ![]() |

@Frozen: So far the longest RP I've participated in was the Monster RP and surprisingly one of mine: feudal magical world. First one lasted over two years, and both of them got over 1000 posts. It doesn't seem like the main problem is in the amount of players, as some of them stayed alive with around 6 people participating (though that was the amount of active players, right now UTPBS has around 5 actives, so it pretty much has chance to live). @Jon: I'll try to stay in RPs as long as possible. Though it seems I'll drop out of Fleeting Dream, cuz it got too complicated in several last posts for me to follow, and I no longer have any idea what's going on or how to play. I'll keep playing in UTPBS, as so far it's pretty interesting and easy to play, though with the end of "prison arc" it got a bit more complicated, as the event ended and I no longer see where this is going. @Roxas: You still remember about your Limbo on the Borderline? I kinda like my characters there and the general plot of town/country managing (which I'm quite fond of, especially after playing Koihime Musou with all those town patrols and such). Though it seems there aren't many players left there, but creator abandoning his RP while it's still alive isn't good. Aside from all that, I've been planning to retry a Mecha RP. I had that started a while ago and it failed greatly, but I'm thinking of reorganizing it this time. So far I think I'll make it pretty similar to Jon's Valkyria Chronicles in the organization manner: 1)Seperate by classes: Real Robot and Super-Robot Types, with subtypes: assault, sniper, defender, supply, artillery, scout. And allow up to two battleships total, probably controlling one of them myself, while leaving another one to someone else, hopefully someone like Jon or Snake, if they participate, though anyone else who won't abandon RP will work nicely too. 2)Limit players by up to two units. Not characters though, as one unit can sometimes hold up to five characters, like Dankougar and Voltes V, and battleships usually have either two characters: Captain and XO, or above five characters, if you add operators, as well as gunners, medics, mechanics. Allowing players to play as non-battle characters, like medics would be pretty fun too. So by two units I mean both main characters and sub-characters, who are also like main characters, just don't get that much of a spotlight. If you add NPC to that, we can create quite an interesting background crowd that isn't nameless, but doesn't play much of a role. 3)Make two rivaling factions, but group all players on one side (though you can start off as neutral or enemy unit, eventually joining player side, after persuasion or getting shot down, betrayed by allies and such). And, instead of creating and controlling them all myself, I'll let players control opponent forces on their own, by creating their own arch-enemies, who don't get as much spotlight as main characters. So, with more players joining, abstract "enemy side" will get certain units (we don't really need to get them much of a spotlight, leaving their interactions and such behind the scenes mostly). Those enemy units can fight other player's units, but the only one with the right to kill them will be their owner. 4)The reason I limit everyone to just one side is to actually avoid PVP. So far as I've noticed in RPs PVP mostly kills the plot: as there's no real rule of fighting, the battle ends up being something like "he did that, but I predicted it and countered it with that", simply speaking, stallmate or something like that: no player can do much without breaking the rules, and add having to wait for other player's response every time, dragging on some quick battle for months. Players can have fun fighting generic units, their arch-enemies and "enemy of the week" (single-battle unique characters) without having to wait for ages, and, after getting permission and discussing it with character's owner, fighting other player's arch-enemies, resulting in making them withdraw, stalling time until that player's character takes over in the battle, getting non-fatally shot down and lots of other options. 5)Two battleships present will be more fun, as our forces can seperate in two, with someone boarding one battleship, while another one boarding different one. 6)Units can have non-scientific origin, like some kind of ancient mystical relic-robot or transformation, though that should be at least briefly explained. Basically, stuff like Tekkaman or RyuKoOh is fine too. 7)Enemy troops don't have to be a single force, someone with non-scientific origin may create not only their arch-enemy unit, but arch-enemy force (basically if you think Tekkaman, it'll be Radam, if you think Mazinger Z, it'll be Mechabeasts). So situations like encountering one enemy force fighting another enemy force is possible too. 8)While I named some examples above, this game's world is seperate from any game or anime, so stick with either original units and characters, or otherworlders/planar-travellers. So, for example, you take a character and a unit from some game, state that this character is from a specific reality, where, unlike his original reality, something happened, alliwing him to travel to current world. Obviously, you can use your characters from different RPs, if they had, or somehow aquired world-travelling abilities. Or, as I'm planning to use my usual character, who is the same person in most RPs he is present at, you can use my character as a means to travel from one RP to this one. Anyway, I've been thinking of that system for quite a while, so hope it succeeds, but I need at least several participants. Oh, and I described it all here, so if anyone has any ideas or such, please state them. P.S. I completely forgot how to speak normally lately, so sorry for smartass phrases like "state", "though", "therefore", "resulting in" and such, it's became my style of talking, so there's nothing I can do about it :D |

@Massacre - I'm using the lull in posts to come up with a short-term plan for UtPBS. I have always had a general idea on where to go, but not a lot of details. Now that the Prison Arc thing is over with, I've got to slowly try working the main story in a bit more. I am pleasantly surprised by how long UtPBS has lasted, considering that as soon as the Usha Mini Arc ended half of the cast left. It seems like every RP I have tried so far seems to be working out in the same way: When I actually attempt to have an ongoing story and events happening (See: Pokemon RP, Valkyria Chronicles RP) the RP tends to die out very quickly. When I only have a minimal amount of story happening however (such as UtPBS, and Spell Summoner to some extent), they tend to last a lot longer. Maybe I'm over complicating my RP's? I feel as though if I tried ramping up the story in UtPBS for example, it would be dead 2 weeks later. Maybe I should just give in and start limiting spots in my RP. I've got to do something to get myself back to how I used to be with this stuff. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As for your RP, you should know that I find it very difficult to avoid joining military style RP's. I love military stuff (or at least, Naval stuff). I'm also a fan of mecha, so that's even more reason for me to join in. Also, I wouldn't worry about how you're speaking. Ever since I started my Office Administration program two years ago I've been using a lot of weird words, phrases and such (and I'll admit, probably improperly in a lot of cases, especially in the case of semicolons). I don't speak normally anymore either as far as I'm concerned. Finally, I haven't seen much activity from the Fleeting Dream RP. I was pretty interested in that one, but since Kenji left it it just hasn't been moving much, or in the same direction that it started out in. At first I was waiting on Kenji and Massacre, then there was that whole argument thing that broke out, now there's just no activity from it. Stuff like that tends to happen when the creator leaves (Free and Dream went through that as well). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are a few RP's I want to try as well, but I don't know if I should go ahead with them or not, considering that there are so many already on the go. Plus, I'm struggling to keep the Pokemon RP together as it is. -I kind of want to try retooling Spell Summoner, although there was an RP not too long ago that was essentially the exact same thing (Pandora's Library), so I doubt that would do me much good. -The other RP I want to try is based off of White Knight Chronicles. Well, one aspect is based off of it anyway. Essentially, I wanted to use the idea of the knights and maybe some of the monsters or locations (most likely the setting as well). I hate recycling or copying stuff from games and anime, but I'm not the most creative guy out there as far as I'm concerned. lol I want to judge interest, so I'm going to tag on a basic rundown here. Keep in mind that if I do go ahead with this idea, it will have to be a limited cast. Also, due to the nature of how this will work, anybody who drops out will have to have their character killed off. I may give first dibs on casting to people who provide feedback on this (still not sure about this yet). Knight Chronicles RP (Name will change) Edit: @Toyumi - I don't know. If I were to do it, it would probably be sometime this week, since I tend to act like that. I highly doubt that I would wait until Summer, seeing as how I will have a lot of stuff to deal with at that point in my life (I get my diploma in June, then I have to find a full-time job and work on buying an actual new car). As for Pokemon, I probably will keep it going since you seem to be so willing to continue. I want to continue as well, and I have also RP'ed with you a few times as well so I know I wouldn't have a problem with that, but I just like having a slightly diverse cast in an RP. Like I stated before, having only two people in the RP really limits the dialogue and unpredictability of the story. Anyway, I'll keep it going. I'm just not willing to give up on this RP, partly because I'm a big fan of Pokemon games. Hopefully we can pick up another member at some point. |

@ Jon- Well, with just the two of us in the RP, we could make things go faster for a bit, that's for sure. I don't think there will be a lack of fun with the RP either, I've RP'ed with you before and I've always had fun with it. As for the track record system, it is a nice idea; but like you said, it's just an idea since it would be difficult, if not impossible, to actually implement. The only thing that I can really think of with lowering the amount of people that drop out of RP's is to make it more difficult for them to stay in future RP's if they have a history of dropping out of them without proper warning or proper reason. This would be kind of hard to implement though, since it only means that you would just have to be stricter with them than with other players of the RP and there are no "real" consequences other than having less freedom when RPing. Also, I'm interested in your RP but I'm not sure if I would be able to join it, it depends on when you're going to release it. If it's during the summer, then I would be able to join, but if not, then I'm not sure, especially since I really want to release another RP of mine in May and I'm already in two RP's. @ Frozen- Like what Jon said, even club members drop out of RP's fairly often. Some drop out without warning less than other, non-club members, while some do drop out without warning. It all depends on a variety of factors, really. @ Emiya- Like what Jon said, there's a difference between dropping out because of other factors or because of loss of interest. Losing internet access is what I would put into the category of proper reasoning. And making mistakes in RP's is honestly fine by me, as long as you fix them. There's always room for miscommunication in RPing, I make mistakes from time to time because of a miscommunication as well. @ Massacre- I don't think that I'd be interested in your RP since I'm not all that interested in both military and mechas. Sorry. >.> Also, it's nice to see you post here. I don't think you're on the member's list yet, so I'll add you there right now since I know you've been in quite a few RP's around here. ![]() |

@Massacre Town - A mecha RP! I have waited for quite a long time (as I occasionally revisited Icarael's Steel Tyrants just for nostalgia reasons. Sad thing that it didn't took off very well. I even plan to make one if the urges are great enough). SRW styled is fine by me, then again I'm much more preferring to the realistic styled mechas like Front Mission, Armored Core, Mechwarrior etc and their complicated storyline. I wonder what is your system for the mecha customization... Point-based? @Jonathon - Hmm, IMO your RPs isn't that complicated, even with the Usha Arc (then again, I gonna admit it's not that easy to orchestrate a fight on the ship railings). However, I might be wrong, as UtPBS is my first time joining your RPs. About Knight Chronicles, it looked pretty good. Then again, I don't have much comments as fantasy/medieval RPs isn't my forte (more on modern/futuristic/sci-fi RPs). I'll join it for experience, but don't expect much from me for plot twists/side quests :x @Toyumi - Right... I guess I should stop being paranoid about that problem. ![]() ![]() |

@Zero - Thanks for the help but I'm using CS4 and even the measurements are different then yours, So it is extremely hard. I already saw all those treads and gave them a try but I seriously have no talent for this. I can draw the characters easily at journeyman level but when it comes to photo manipulation I'm horrible. And for some reason I am extremely blur in this department. ==' @Haseo - i agree with you there. I've also had a lot of RP's die extremely fast and 2 of them barely even got kicked off. Only Dawn of Dreams and 6th Holy Grail War are my most successful ones (Heck the latter is now a commonly used skeleton copy for Fate Rp's on other sites!) and they did not even make it to 100 posts. @Frozen - I kinda agree on the possibility on a system of those who leave often get banned. I also RP at Fate Nueva Guerra nowadays and they are EXTREMELY strict. They have this system there. @Moggle - As much as I wanted to continue, I lost faith after pretty much everyone other then us left. So I had to transfer priorities to my job and my other RP site. IF there was at at least 2 more still in I would have given it full attention. Also, I saw ur Super Robot Wars Rp but I'm sorry but I cant join. It will be the Persona RP all over again where I'm out of my depth due to not knowing a single thing. (I'm still looking for a DVD of both super robot wars to understand the story.) If it was Gundam then I might consider. Also, John's Rp is not the longest running. The longest running that I've seen was "World that is transparent". It was around ever since I joined Gendou and wayyy before I started Rp'ing. Icarael's Immortal Machina was the 2nd longest if I'm not mistaken. Howeer John's RP's DO last very very long. @Toyumi - Agreed. I admit that I have sometimes disappeared for several posts but often then not I always come back. Eh? Moggle was not a member? I though that he was... @John - I was not in Spell Summoner but I remember that it was one of the top 5 best Rp's on the site. As for Knight Chronicles, I'm afraid that I wont join. It is not too much to my tastes. As for Pokemon, *shrugs* If you need a gym leader or villain or something I can help once in a while but my pokemon knowledge is limited to from the beginning to Ruby/Sapphire. So I might need to use the pokemon wikia to help me out. I'm still waiting for anyone to post in UTPBS as I was the last post. @All - Surprisingly, I've noticed that SaphireISLuna and Chinny's 'School of Magical Insanity' is still going very, very strong. Also, most of the newer RP'ers are hiding there. Also, since I've been on a novel run, I've got two ideas for Rp's. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- H.I.V.E.: Higher Institute of Villainous Education - H.I.V.E. is a top secret school hidden inside a still active volcano. The school is a part of G.L.O.V.E., the Global League of Villainous Enterprises, and was built for the purpose of training children to become criminal masterminds. Only children who have already been seen to have some villainous skill are accepted to the school. The school has four streams; the Alpha stream, Henchmen stream, Technical stream and the Political/Financial stream. More less, its highschool for budding evil villains. And classes are awesome stuff like Evil 101, Mad Science (Death rays and bio-experimenting!), Stealth and Pilfering, Combat obstacle Training, Botany of Doom (Create your own man eating plants! Or poisons if you prefer), Philandering Economics, and more. Nothing can go wrong right? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel - The story involves a pair of twins whose regular lives working at their summer jobs (one works in a coffee shop, the other works in a bookstore) are turned upside down by the arrival of Dr. John Dee. Dr. Dee engages the bookstore owner, Nick Fleming in a battle of magic in an attempt to steal an ancient book, The Book of Abraham the Mage (aka the Codex) from him. Dr. Dee snatches the book from Nick's grasp but Nick manages to retain two pages. Dr Dee also kidnaps Nick's wife Perry (who owns the coffee shop) in the melee and imprisons her on Alcatraz Island. After the battle Nick Fleming confesses to the twins that his real name is Nicholas Flamel, that he is the French alchemist from history, that he is also immortal, and that the twins, himself and Perry (his immortal wife, Perenelle Flamel) are in grave danger. Nicholas tells the twins that he believes them to be mentioned in a prophecy within the Codex, and that the fate of the world as they know it could depend on his success in getting their latent magic awakened. He also tells them that without the Codex, both he and Perry will die within a month, as their immortality depends on a recipe for a special elixir found only within its pages. Meanwhile Dr. Dee has found out that he is missing two very vital pages from the Codex. The pages are the Final Summoning, needed by him to return his masters, the Dark Elders, to the face of the earth ... and so begins a fast paced race as Dee pursues the twins, Nicholas for the pages of the Codex, whilst Nicholas and others race to get the twins' latent magical auras awakened, to get them schooled in the use of the elemental magics, and to rescue his beloved Perry. The stories criss-cross the globe featuring well known places and sites, such as San Francisco, London, the Eiffel Tower, Stonehenge and the Golden Gate Bridge. Many characters from history and mythology including other immortal humans help both sides pursue their goals. Scathach, Hekate, Prometheus, the Witch of Endor, Gilgamesh, Niccolò Machiavelli, Bastet, Odin, William Shakespeare, Joan of Arc and Mars Ultor are some of the possible characters you can use. The Elders are in reality an actual race that existed before humans appeared. Of course I will go into more details later. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I was also considering reviving Icarael's Immortal Machina similarly to what I did for God Child 2. What do you guys think? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

@Roxas: Actually, the plot is original. Super Robot Wars usually group several mecha anime together. Like for example, Super Robot Wars J has Gundam Seed, Martian Successor Nadesico, Tekkaman, Zeorymer, Mazinger Z and some others. So don't mistake it with Original Generations (The name Original Generation itself probably means that it is formed completely of original robots). So, as long as you are familiar with mecha in general, there's no plot to know. |

@ Jon- Alright, then I probably won't be able to join this one. I'm not too familiar with White Knight Chronicles in the first place, and I'm not so interested in the RP that I would want to squeeze it into my schedule. Sorry. >.> Although, if it's still going by May/June and you need people to join due to a loss of players or something, then I'll be available and willing to join it then. XD @ Roxas- Honestly, I'm not interested in either of your new RP ideas. I don't like ideas that are so heavily based upon other series, especially novels. As for reviving Immortal Machina, if you're sure that you can get the participation for it from the members of the RP that were active in it before it died off, then I say go ahead with it. ![]() |

@moogle; I would join your rp if I have time, but I can't. Still working on major projects along with work. Sorry. @Roxas; Your rp ideas are nice, but like toyumi said, I don't really like rp that are too heavily based off other series or novels. As for Immortal Machina, I kind of lost interest in it. The whole demi-god is kind of lacking in originality, been overdone. @all; I scrapped my samurai ideas and decided to go for more futuristic style. This is my idea so far... In the distant future of 2030, Japan Foundation went on decline since the fall of the meteor on new years. Virus spread throughout the country, bringing destruction. Humans affected by the virus suddenly went berserk and change into monster like creatures. The world tried its best to aid those who are not affected in Japan. Many tried to figure what could cause this, they knew that the source is the meteor, but there have to be a connection to the spread of virus and the meteor. While the government try to figure things out, few who lost their families to the virus knew the cause of it...EM Wave...in simpler terms the meteor carries a magnetic frequency that hugely affects certain electronics such as cell phones. If one answer the phone through a certain ring tone that the meteor transmit, the carrier would turn into a monster and kill the closest person, wiping its existence from everyone's memories. The virus did not spread immediately but slowly which took five years for the meteor to affect all of Japan. As time passed, an organization called S.K.Y. was created to fight against these creatures. The members of S.K.Y. would have powers called Seraphic Syndrome. Now the question is, will the world be safe or will it end? This is the idea I got. I left out a few things, I went from light to heavy rp ideas. Sorry. So what do you guys think? ![]() |

@Zero the plot reminded me of the 3rd Birthday for the psp. Although the story did seem good, viruses from outer space has done enough of its toll on being cliche. I've seen it used too many times in video games, manga, and movies. What you could do is set the timeline to modern time so we could easily grasp plot ideas. We don't even know what the future looks like as well as conflict between different views of the future. One more thing, hasn't super poweres been abused too much nowadays? Instead of a person owning a special power, why not have them equip it instead? Like the charaters from the God Eater, characters equip special weapons that aid them in their fights against giant beasts. @Roxas other people are being nice, but to be blunt. You need to stop using others ideas as your own. Use your imagination to think of a plot, it's not that hard. This goes with the characters you make, you tend to copy abilities from video games, movies and animation. ![]() |

@Frozen - Meh, I actually prefer it if people are blunt. Makes things much easier. I read your reply to Zero and I can actually remember one successful RP that involves people equipping 'powers': Immortal Machina. About 95% of the cast had to 'equip' their machina's to fight with a few exceptions (AQUILA and Normal Humans). As for creating ready-made characters...meh, I'll work on that. I got plenty of experience on Fate Nuevo Guerra. They do not allow usage of ready made at all. Sometimes it can take weeks to complete characters there to gain approval from the mods. @Zero - Interesting idea. I'll probably join it. But I'm getting a '28 Days later' vibe. Seems your RP specialties involve apocalypse-type and zombie-type scenario's eh? XP @Moggle - For mecha stuff I'm only familiar with Macross Frontier, Robotech:Battlecry, a few Gundam animes & games, Code Geass, Star Driver and Guilty Crown. OOC: From what I can see is that we need an RP that would really demand EVERYONE's dedication and promise not to easily quit. This type of things was what made 'World that is transparent' so popular. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

@Toyumi - I understand, but still, that's good to know. If the RP does last that long, then there's probably a very good chance that there will be a position open in May or June. Even if it does go for a few months, I highly doubt I'll still have the original members in the RP by that point. Also, I'll get back to posting in Pokemon either tonight or tomorrow night. I have to crack my Organization Behavior book at some point tonight for a test tomorrow, so I'm not sure if I'll get to it tonight. @UtPBS members - Post is coming soon, but the reasons I stated above may push that post back until tomorrow as well. New arc will be starting with the next post. @Roxas - I think the main reason why 'Free and Dream' lasted as long as it did is because the characters had a lot of relationship dynamics going on. I can only speak for myself, but I feel as though the relationships we created with our characters kept all of us RP'ers emotionally invested in that RP (I can almost guarantee that that is the reason behind me, Anke, Toyumi and Fenris staying in the RP from creation to death. I'd even say king as well, although his character was more focused on friendship relationships). Free and Dream just had some special combination of things that kept it going. I don't want to sound like a jerk, but I don't think you can attribute it's success to a certain aspect, like Kenji being able to appeal to the widest range of RP'ers (Don't kill me for saying that Ken. Major respect for you broski). @Frozen - We had a discussion on this whole 'creativity versus laziness' thing sometime ago. There's nothing wrong with using things from Anime, Video Games, Books or Movies in order to make an RP. Yes, it is more fun if someone creates everything from scratch, but with the general lifespan of RP's lasting anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks, it's just not feasible to put that much effort into an RP. I put quite a bit of time and thought into 'Under the Pale Blue Sky', and that RP came very close to dying after a little less than 1 month (heck, it's still on the fence as it is). Påndorå §kÿ"s only went 15 days. You should always add personality to any RP you make (created characters as opposed to characters from the work in question, original story, stuff like that), but there's nothing inherently wrong with recycling stuff from Anime and such. It escapes me at the moment, but I recall being a part of a completely original RP that Toyumi whipped up, and if memory serves, that RP only went 1 month, then only got about 2 posts per week for the following month, then just sort of collapsed. My character was left bleeding outside the town for like 8 posts. Edit - @Haseo - I think you're taking the plagiarism thing too far. I'm not sure if you are trying to be so intense in your post, but your making it sound as though this is some plague on the industry. RP's are essentially a way for the 'teens to adults' age group to play pretend, if I were to put that very bluntly. I'm not trying to say that there is nothing wrong with plagiarism, but you're making a mountain out of a molehill here. You're also talking about people taking credit for things that others have done, which I haven't seen happen in my time RP'ing. I don't recall seeing people here taking credit for Naruto or Ichigo, or even taking credit for other RP'ers original stories. Yeah, if someone took my original story or characters (like Jade and Cynic, characters of which I can only claim the concept rights to) and took credit for them, I would probably kick up a fuss. But I don't particularly care if someone wants to use my story or characters as long as they don't claim to have thought of it. A while back Icarael asked to use my UtPBS stuff for a game he was running. Honestly, he didn't even have to ask me, I wouldn't have really cared if he used it without asking. Him taking credit for coming up with that would have been different, but I don't recall saying that taking credit for others work is alright. Maybe you misinterpreted my post, I don't know, but my main point was that using existing characters like those from Bleach or (in my case) Pokemon in order to tell or create a new story isn't that big of a deal with these RP's. If you start taking credit for creating that stuff (or making a profit, receiving recognition, etc.), then yeah, that's plagiarism. It just seems like your getting really worked up over a non-issue (at least, in relation to Gendou.com). |
