They've only started with DB and that will not be the end of it. I haven't even seen the DB trailer on TV yet, so who knows if these'll become mainstream releases. This is a possibility, but they might dig into dubs they've dubbed, and try to make movies off of 'em. DB (series), they dubbed entirely, Cowboy Bebop, they dubbed entirely, Death Note, they dubbed entirely, and I won't be surprised to see a Gundam or Code Geass movie, either. Shoot, they might even try to tackle Bleach or Naruto, but we all know those'll be epic failures. I actually read online and found out some other directions opinions on these matter, and they're pretty much on our sides.

There's already been a Gundam movie, but Sunrise pulled production on the DVD's (Including the NA release) because Yoshiyuki Tomino didn't approve of it. It wasn't a good movie by any means, but the work on the suits in terms of appearance were well done. |

Well, there's the Akira movie, too. D: Pretty much anything is out there in the open, but I don't think the original directors of the anime should give them the right to. I mean, I wouldn't, unless I was doing it myself, but I'd make the live-action in Japan where there's a better chance of success (even if it might fail :P). The good thing about this whole thing though is that real fans of anime really, know how these movie's'll turn out, which is good I suppose.

It's just the way it is. The economy is bad, so it's not as easy to get original ideas and spend millions creating something with no way to predict how it will do. It's much cheaper for studios to buy rights to something that is popular in another country and remake it or adapt it, and they know it will have some degree of success because the blind followers will pay to see anything they love, whether it looks good or not, history has already shown that. When you think about it at first, it is a little hard to hate them, they are trying to make a living in these tough times, but then again, they are still tearing out the heart and soul of these works from other countries and simply cashing in on the sheep who follow it while trying to pull in unsuspecting viewers. Plus, they don't even try to make these things good, they just slap it together and hope it holds. So on a second look, it is rather easy to hate them, although you also have to hate the fans that go see this garbage and give them the money they need to make a sequel. As I said earlier though, all we have to do is ignore it and shun the people who find it to be a great movie. In this one instance, 'out of sight, out of mind' is a good motto. I say torrent it when it comes out and see if it's worth it (you never know, Hollywood may one day actually surprise us with quality) if it isn't then at least you aren't part of the main problem and you didn't waste money, if it is worth it (and hell has frozen over) then support it by buying the DVD release. However Jade tells me not to expect much, and she's usually right about these things, so I have not a single shred of hope or optimism. |

I already saw the Death Note movie, its about L and Near. Mainly how L found Near and trying to save the world from a virus before getting himself killed because he wrote his name on the Death Note Notebook of Misa. |

lol, Bleach had a musical. In fact, I think they do one every year (three so far), but it's in Japan and it's more Japan customed and cultured. There's no way Death Note can be a musical made in AMERICA!! They can't dub anime for crap, how are they going to translate songs and make them sound legit to any degree? I'm still pissed off on how the ending to the anime went down, please don't make me hate Death Note even more, and love it less.

Oh, when I said horror musical, I meant like...a musical with a horror setting. 8D That would actually be pretty amusing...in both good and bad ways haha. Imagine them singing, straight face and all while writing names in a notebook. =| I wish they'd take more thought into this though. Seriously, do they think that sticking two n00b celebrities into a popular series will make the movie skyrocket? |

From what i've read, the japanese live-action films were actually pretty decent. I haven't seen them so i don't have any say about it other than what i read & heard. The 2nd movie was one of the highest grossing films in Japan which does say alot. If Hollywood wants to make a remake i suggest maybe using the japanese films as blueprints for the US release. Having the creator as well as the director of the japanese films as producers can help as well. I said in the Cowboy Bebop thread that it is a good sign the film may be good cause the creators of the series are signed on to be producers. First things first is that they need to ignore popularity & choose actors that will fit the roles of the characters. A friend of mine who is a big fan of Twillight said the film was awful cause the characters portrayed in the film was not even close to the ones in the books. Like i said even if Zac Efron looks the part his personality doesn't fit at all with the character of Light....don't even get me started on Miley Cyrus. In my opinion any anime series can be made into a good live-action if the right people are involved with the project. Hopefully Deathnote will recieve that treatment...otherwise may GOD have mercy on our souls! |

I've stopped getting excited about films made from books because the people they get are so crap, especially some children (cough, cough) cannot act, yh, no offense, but they can't, well, some of them are pretty good at crying..... Anyways, the characters always get screwed up, so lets hope they take a longer and better look at Zac and Miley. |

[@Izumo] I said this another thread before, but I think the Japanese should only be allowed to direct their own anime series into a live-action series. Not to sound so rough or offensive, but the Japanese are just made for the type of stuff that's made into anime. Ironically, they'll either learn it instantly, or they already read the manga and/or watched the animation series! When you switch something to a whole new perspective like this case, the difficulty is not only altered, but basically EVERYTHING. Subs for the live-action original film made in Japan isn't enough? And yes, I've heard it had mixed reactions, but had success during its release. Too bad about Twilight. Everyone in my school was talking about it, hyping it all up, and a lot of them came to me in disappointment, but I figure... these things have happened quite a few dozen times before. Quite a few dozen. [@tilly] I know exactly what you mean. You can easily see this in dubs (which we ALL know about). But as I've been saying for quite a while, some dubs are pretty darn good and fit perfectly, if not sometimes better than the original. I think they should ask the dub of the anime's directors and producers, etc. for advice or something for good actors, then again voice actors and actors in this case, are not the same (unless some of the VAs can actually act?). :P [@d00d] Miley's overrated in everything. I can see her cosplaying pretty well as her though (...maybe. Blond hair... check...). There's so many things with one character, let alone the actual movie.
