@ Jon: OKay. When that time comes I'll do what I can to assist in coordinating that and arrange material for an extras disk. I also hope people would be interested in a physical copy.

@ DA: Thanks! I'll make sure to contact if opinion is needed. Buy, if you have anything you'd like to say about any topic, everyone's free to give/post input.

:]

@ All: Edited my profile to show E-Mail. Anyone who just wants to contact me personally about the project is free to do so.

Any new developments so far?

I've been officially accepted into the Website Administration course for which I applied, I start that in September. Hopefully it can help me help the project.

@ Jon:
Clap Clap Clap for you! COngradulatiuons on making the class! (it kinda sounded like there was a chance you wonuldnt be accepted). Either way, it's nice to know!

At the moment, we're all basically twiddling our thumbs till the June 1st judging. Mokona (Or me) will announce the winner on this thread. That's when things will kick off with running.

However, right now there are a couple things that I can say should be decided about now:

@ All: NEWS!:

VN Announcements: Yes! Ugo'll send out regarded monthly infos to people who want info on the project without having to dig around posts in the respective dev. threads. Everyone whose part of the project/posted is eligible. If ya dont want to receive it, say your piece now and allow me to start my T-T's now!!!

Scheduling Time for storyline IM meetings: Considering the fact that the final judging is coming up. Right now I'd like to request that all those involved in the storyline IM meetings to begin to start putting in days and times they'd be willing to/available to participate.

You can put in your times you want to arrange have them beginning Saturday of june the 6th and through the rest of the month. More meetings will be scheduled into july if needed.

Ugo herself isn't proficient in chat. But it's my assumption that we'll use Google (Unless gendou-sama has something he wants to say about it) for the IM discussions. Everyone who wishes to help/interested can join. The first set of meetings are to determine what arcs to use, characters, and how everything will begin before the story breaks off.

Remember, these meetings will decide our story, please be prepared, mindful, and be ready to discuss. Not ALL authors are expected to be at each and every meeting. But at the least be there enough times to get across what needs to be. I'll personally keep a kind of record as to what transpired for absentees, as well as preside over the meeting.

Now's the time to put out any problems/concerns and your times and dates available. Ugo can guarantee she'll be around on saturday nights '7-midnight if needed'. I'll be available thought the entirety of sunday (except during morning church 8AM-2PM) Also, Ugo's (GMT is -7 I'll recalculate this later)

Weekdays I may be unavailable due to summer school (I didnt fail a class, honest!). 2nd saturday of june I may have other things to attend to. However, I'll try to be as flexible with my times as possible.

@Ugo- There was a chance, but I applied for the same course in two different colleges, so I had my bases covered in an eventuality.

*waves* "Hey Ugo!" *scrubs cheeks* "I'm so proud of ya!"( I hope i'm not embarassing ya! ^^)

How's the IM sessions gonna work?

And what're we gonna discuss again? :P Oh, right right- sorry my fault- i got it now- no worries!

I go on pretty much most of the time, unless something comes up unexpectedly, i don't always get a chance to go on... but i'm sure i can sort stuff out ^^

And I think it's a good idea to put in like, where you guys live roughly? Cuz, you know, Ugo's 7pm could be.. err my 3am (GMT)? If you catch my drift... so... yeah...

I can see Ugo put a lot of effort into this, so i hope it's successful for your sake!

*claps for Jon too?*

@ Ayame:

Well, it's nice for you to say, thanks!

Recruitment is still open, if you can even remotely help in any of the areas we need members in (that's basically everything) then go ahead and give a shout! They're all listed on the first post.

@ Mokona:

Well, looking it up, I'm GMT -7 for my timezone. I have to get ready for school now as I type this, so uh, you can do the calculation! ^^'

Ugh, I'll get to the other questions later, got to go to school!!! Ah-! i'm gonna miss the bus again!!! >.<

@ Schwarz:

Would yea mean about the IM meetings? All the information that's needed is on the thread. Unless Schwarz was asking of something else?

@ ALL:

Haha, looks like things just got complicated with time zones. Well, I was going off of gendou time, but yeah, I guess I'll have to put up a time schedule according to GMT. You guys can look up you're respective GMT modifications by country. (just google GMT!)

Just a curious question, does gendou time (like the dates and times on the posts) follow anything specific, or does it change based on which country you're logging in from?

@Ugo - Gendou time is the time where Gendou is, which is Pacific Daylight Time (PDT).

@ Jon: Oh, alright, thanks!

@ Mokona:

Not just successful for my sake! Ugo only works for teh project! ^^

Answering the Rest of those questions:

The IM things'll probably start out as answering really basic questions. Like the characters, etc. More or less, figuring out the nuts and bolts of the rest of the story. The least I would like to get done is:

Determine the beginning of the story.
Handle Creation of other characters/their importance to the arc/story and how they'll be introduced the first time.
Okay other arc propositions and make sure they're faithful to the characters/story.
Get any other questions that only Mokona can answer, answered.

And really that's what I want to get done. These first IM sessions are dedicated to the story. If there's anything that seems to be missing, go ahead and say.

@ All:

Also, make sure you have at least an idea of what you intend to propose as an arc, other characters, and misc. details you want to get asked.

So, in terms of GMT, Ugo is available at:

Weekdays: 10 AM - 5 PM (GMT)
Saturday: 1-5 PM (GMT)
Sunday: The whole day aside from 1-7 AM (GMT)

Please dont think of these as set times. I'm looking for a time where everyone is available (or at least the most). I'll do my best to turn twist my time around. If I cant make it, then it's alright just to assign someone else to over watch it.

Faiz says they're tied up with exams until after June 15.

@ugo

It will be hard to come up with a certain time in which all the member are free...

I suggest that after each meeting someone write a summary of the meeting so that who not attend the meeting know what happen or what progress that we make

how about it??

Ugo: awww, you make me sound so important lol.
I'll get the entries judged a.s.a.p so then we can start the meetings real quick, so first, we need to discuss the first part of the story/ the prologue.. and then the arcs and characters, right? That's sounds cool.

About the times.. they seem fine- except the 10am - 5pm, i'll probably be on (on weekdays) at about 3pm - later. And Saturday, Sunday sound good to me!

Lockey: I think that's a great idea! We can either have a summary, or copy the convo.. but that might be a bit long.... to the people who have missed the IM sessions, or post it here!

@ Key: It's my very intent to do that. I'll make sure to at least be able to giver a summery of what got done at the meetings. I dont know how long they'll last, maybe 1-3 hours tops (depending how long people manage to stay ^^')

@ Mokona: Well, it's only true we wouldn't have the darndest clue about the story until the rest of it's explained by you. Though Ugo may have the headache now, mokona-nee'll have hers soon enough. *ebil grin*

I guess It'll be alright to post up summaries on this thread too, for the people who're watching this project. (you know who you are!)

@ Karuzo: Motivation... uh, uber FIGHTO~!

@ All:
Okay-! Aside from determining times, the next important thing to determine is what service we're usin'. It seems like a good amount of people are using yahoo or MSN live. So it looks like some of us may have to download services, since I assume that we cant inter chat between different service providers.

At the moment, it seems like most people have windows msn live messenger. Shall we declare that as that as the default service to use?

Right now, It looks like I'll probably have meetings occur on saturday and sunday nights. Will have to determine GMT, as well as get a response from Basil.

P.S. Whee, I have to deal with my finals this week! >_<

EDIT: BTW: Kinda aimed at mokona, will you have the beginning of the story predetermined by you to be modified later in the IM discussion, o will it work like we build a beggining off of all the propositions we make?

Also, I kinda want to ask how the arcs will work. Is it like, the best 2-3 entries will be written, or will we code in everything?

Basically, Ugo is also trying to ask what we're going to want to be prepared to answer when the meeting starts and what to expect.

Re: Gendou - Visual Novel Project
Link | by on 2009-06-01 08:00:06 (edited 2009-06-01 08:01:48)
Ugo: Well, firstly, i have a headache already XD

Nah, back to business, I'm not sure... basically everyone needs a compatible IM-ing account obviously.. but I don't think all of us necessarily have to download Windows Live Messenger.. we could all maybe use IM host sites like: meebo.com or ebuddy.com which allow efficient IM-ing services without download, all we need.. is each others email address'.

Well, we've got a the prologue, which just needs some tweaking for the Novel purposes... If you're talking about the rest of the entries.... I will decide on the winning entry.. then, we polish the plot off in the IM discussions (e.g. shortening, making it suitable and flow easier in the V-novel) umm,

or will it work like we build a beggining off of all the propositions we make?

Sorry, not really sure what that means.. :S! Gomen!

- The arcs, well, after the winning entry, the arcs are gonna be written by the rest of us.. actaully no... about the arcs.. they will have to flow with the entry.. ah, I'm not too sure.. I think it's us writing separate endings... but then with the rest of the entries....

^^^^
Very sorry for babbling, please ignore. I'm not really sure, heh :P

In the meeting, hopefully it will be after the competition, right? I will proabably have posted the winning entry up somewhere- possibly in the Writer's club thread AND here... we're firstly gonna decide how we will work on the V-N maybe? And then discuss the prologue, what needs changing etc. and then discuss the winning entry and how we're gonna embed it to the prologue.. then possibly at a LATER date, discuss the arcs..

Oh gods, no idea what i'm on about :S

==' please, if you have not understood anything i've said, or I have answered in a complete tangent, please just tell me and elaborate more for me, cuz i'm a simpleton :S

P.S: by "beginning of the story" I always presumed it meant prologue?

@ALL- After an experiment I conducted Windows LIve messenger accounts cannot accept non-Live or hotmail accounts

that means if we will make new IM accounts....

Try using a program called Miranda Portable. It's an IM program that lets you sign in using MSN, Yahoo, or whatever you want to use. Not sure how it works with conference or group IM'ing though, never tried it.

Hey, I’m willing to help with the language (spelling and grammar), of this, depending really
on when we start doing this. Next week I’m busy but after that I’m free, end of exams
basically, woop.

@ mokona:

Okay, I'll try looking into those services later. Though, I'm thinking it's probably still be live.

"or will it work like we build a beggining off of all the propositions we make?"

What I meant by that is are we making the first arcs of the story from what you make as a start, or make the first parts from what eding/story ideas submitted by the members.

"- The arcs, well, after the winning entry, the arcs are gonna be written by the rest of us.. actaully no... about the arcs.. they will have to flow with the entry.. ah, I'm not too sure.. I think it's us writing separate endings... but then with the rest of the entries...."

Um, it was my assumption that the other arcs would be different ways the story would flow and eventually end. When you mean "flow with the entery" do you mean it'll have similar elements? Because, when we have other characters, the arcs cant be too similar. (What I'm trying to say is: if we write different arcs, they'll probably should be different from one another. I agree they should be the same, but only to the point where they deverge into their different paths.

Finally, by beggining of the story, it ncludes the prolouge and first arcs that introduce everyone. The choices that determine which path'll go is in that said part too.

Ack, It seemed I was in a tangent too. Hope ya understood!

@ Karuzo: Alright, thanks! Looks like we'll need to use the single service then.

@ Jonathan: Thanks for the suggestion. I might see to it.

@ Weeze: Major proofreading doesent begin until after the finished arcs are completed. Proofreading may happen in a month or two (depending on how fast the members type). Does that sound alright?
