I say, the most important thing is interaction with your surroundings. Although, I guess love grows as you keep doing those interactions.

Humans NEED love. Love can be said to be part of their diet. Love fufills them emotionally and helps them to evolve to a higher form of living entity.
God gave loves us and created us in his own image. We should know how to love! ^^

Love... If you're talking about crushes, that's just trash in this world but is normal for teens... But if you're talking about true love, to all people, yes, its important.. Love makes the world go round... What it means is that if there is no love for fellow people, then the world will be a violent place to live in, I don't know, maybe people will kill each other without knowing that they're doing something bad... If there's no love for fellow people, then there will be no friends.. No man is an island... When there's no love to the opposite sex then human kind will end 'coz there are no husband and wife.. No reproducing, don't laugh!.. Love is everything.. But puppy love is nothing..

I find people who thinks that love is not one of the primers in this world are truly shallow-minded, no offence. Love is a thing of influence! It regulates one's passion to do something--- does not have to be love-making. If most of you lot think that's the only function, hell no. Love influences one's passion and dedication to start something new or/and be encouraged to resume the work under construction. Love is given from our parents (and our siblings) we grew up with and those people are the ones we know the longest! You think love ain't needed? Heck, you gotta appreciate what your family give the best things to you and guide you the best possible ways in order for you to live what's best with those blessings in the future. That's love, right? Love opens the mind for a better understanding in life, gives hope at helping those in need, brings you closer to your beloved ones. Without them, we will be feral-minded and lonelier forever, no matter how much the population has quadrupled, loneliness kills love within one's heart, mind, body and soul.

Not necessarily. There is a period in our lives where we never understood love, what it is or what form it can take.
Of course, love also builds character and is a wonderful thing itself.
Then there's obsessive love which is bad.

I just realized this topic is vague.

Humans don't need love. It's an emotion, a product of the mind, not nature. However, I was taught emotions as a kid, and they don't bother me.
Live and let love, eh?

Without love, you won't even have your favourite hobbies in all your life.

Humans don't need love, pah! Sure it's an emotion and a mind product. But this emotion encourages us to be motivated and to be dedicating to our projects and plans for the future, and also gives the chance for us to be with our close relatives and friends. And also to make us feel brave to start a new adventure and to do something new! And you do can say humans don't need love? Don't be so freaking shallow, man!!!

Like vie quoted, Love is the food for the soul. I agree on that. Let's live with all the love we had and received while we are alive and warm before we die in cold bitter departure. Once we die, maybe someday our spirits can live in this world with all the love we had during our lifetime.

HUMANS NEED LOVE!!! juz like air~! without it, we can't breath! without it, we can never live happily!!

*Love is a wondrous thing. It moves mountains and stills a baby’s cries. It beats inside every human’s heart and yet it is more precious than gold. It cannot be bought, sold or stolen. Love keeps us alive!!!*

Love...first ask yourself what love is. Now ask someone else. Did you get the same answer? Love is another subject that gets as many opinions as there are people in the world.

Love's necessity, it's value, changes form person to person. You can try to convice people it is necessary, but those who feel it isn't required to live will probably never believe you.

"No man is an island." Yet some people manage to live most of their lives alone. Living in solitude. Surviving on their own strength. Then dying all alone. It can be called sad, but if they enjoyed their life then it isn't.

"If you don't love yourself you would be suicidal." I have been disgusted with everything for a time. Myself. My family. My life in general. I never contemplated suicide. Suicide is just another door in life. It is a door I locked the first day I heard of it. I said no one who respected life would commit suicide. I am over that part of my life. I know why I want to live. Right now its not love, but maybe someday it will be. Either way my belief of honor overcame my lack of love for myself and the things around me.

I belief love is a personality trait. All your thoughts on love comes from who you are. One person's love can be to care for everyone. Another is for oneself only. Ect. Your opinions, the way you were raised, what you have taken from life. This is what love...emotions....beliefs. LOVE! JUSTICE! FAITH! HATE! HONOR! That is what all those are. I care for my friends and family. I try to help anyone who needs help. I have even helped someone who I hate. I don't love that person, but I helped them nontheless. I do what I believe is right. I go against what I think is wrong.

So love isn't determined by your actions, but by your believes. The image of love is reflected by everyone's beliefs.

I guess...humans do need love. People may say they don't need/have love but deep in their heart there is love in them or they know they do need some love.

To me love is nothing but agony and despair. I once hold it dear, too dear actually. In the end I was the one who suffer in the end. That time I almost went mad, but now i have decided to devoid of all emotions and it not too bad anyway you just felt "nothing". "Propter vitam vevendi ferdere causas".

My opinion...

I think that love is another emotion.
I think that it is a very complex emotion though, that can serve many purposes. It brings joy and happiness which helps relieve stress and make life easier. It also fills the need humans have for companionship. I think we could live without it easily, it is just convienent and workable to have it in our lives.

"Life's simple. You make choices and you dont look back" "All that matters is knowing what you really want... and going after it"

@Nevon Matsu- Even a person wants to live by him/herself, is it not something he/she loves how his/her life should be like? The word 'love' is simply adds all up.

Doesn't matter how people make interpretations on love. Doesn't matter if our opinions on love don't match. In the end, love allows us to develop a sense of humanity all around us, regardless of distinction.

Love is just an emotion that occurs naturally, something like anger or happiness. It is just that ppl normally take is as a noun, but it is just how the body reacts to other ppl, wantin to be noticed or as most ppl would put it, 'loved'. Hence, it isnt a problem of whether u need it or not, it is more of a must have. Without love, it is as good as not being a human, even if u say u dun wan to be loved, deep inside it cant be true.

@w00t0s- Have you heard this question? "If a tree falls and no one is around, does it still make a sound?"

By popular belief now it does, but with no one around it isn't recognized. It would go on without truly existing.

Are you saying love can exist without us? Our opinions is what makes love what it is. To exist, someone or something must acknowledge someone or something. You, by yourself, can acknowledge yourself, but would you truly feel alive if nothing else around you acknowledged you. In the same sense you can say how do we exist without love. The only thing that changes it is peoples' opinions.

The only thing for certain is uncertainty. Things change as opinions change. Hundreds of years ago having sex with 13 year olds was commonplace. Now it is considered morally wrong.

Everything is possible. All that has to change is popular belief.
