What does the gendou.com community think of this proposal? I bet you all have the same questions as I do. Let me assure you that I will never sell out in any way! If this is a chance to get big bad servers to host faster and more music, then it may be a chance to improve the community. If, however, this is someone's money-making scheme, they will be sadly disappointed. Hi Tristan, Sounds interesting. I have a few questions for you: 1. What is the name of your firm, and where can I learn more about it? 2. How would you approach the issue of legality concerning the music database at gendou.com? 3. What additional content/services would be added to gendou.com? - Gendou Hello, My name is Tristan Grier and I represent a firm with a large online presence in the Anime and Manga community. We have first noticed your website (Gendou.com) many months ago and have since been keeping track of its progress, and we are very impressed with what this website has been able to accomplish. As a result of this we would like to make an offer for purchase of the domain and content on your web server, while also having you stay as administrator of the website. We do believe in keeping online content free and as such have no plans to convert this website in any way to making users exclusively pay for the content. We would however like to re-design the website and offer some new options that our existing base of hundreds of thousands of users from around the world can branch out and enjoy. Our firm manages dozens of dedicated servers to provide high speed content to users everywhere, thus we would take over all funding for the Gendou.com website. Most likely the "several dedicated servers" are in Tristan's parent's basement hooked up to DSL. Big words don't fool me, i know several myself. I love the title "Intl. Affairs Manager". Sounds really important! Once on a job application, under "job position" i wrote in "almighty overseer". I got the job, too! But they made me fix old computers so i quit after a month or so.

I don't like the absence of a company name, sounds a little off. I also find it odd that an interanl affairs contacting you. That job is usualy either a recrting official, or another position that handels things outsid of the company, or they could be a small company. I should stop throwing aaround their, them, and other plural pronouns, after all only one person contacted you, and it only take one person to conatact you. I googled "Tristan Grier" and i got a high school reuion(or something else couldn't really tell), and an Austrialian snowsports team. So this company that's based on the internet doesn't put up it's employees names on the internet or it doesn't exsist, I'll let you decide on that one. "Almighty overseer" eh, wonder how that pays? I bet it pays in expiriance, like interning only without the coffee, and the beatings. |

I'd say wait for him to reply. I'd have doubts on this Tristan character though. Doesn't sound clean to me.

i agree with mako...nothing comes for free... anyway...its your site and you need to make the decicion although i am happy that you have made a commitment not to sell us out^^ vote #1 for gendou!!! (best admin ever)

Hmmmm.............dont know I personally wouldnt do it cause it sounds kinda fishy.......but the choice is yours. I just dont want 100000 users(including me) to suffer from it. 
I prefer being alone so do me a favor and leave me be.... |

If he is willing to pay you millions of dollars then I might consider it. I don't really like the idea of a site that I visit everyday in possesion of someone who isn't Gendou.  Jomunga eats your avatars. |

Here is their response and my further response: Mr. Grier, After carefully considering your offer, I have come to the decision that I will not sell the domain name gendou.com to anyone for less than $100,000US. You did not answer question #1 or #3 satisfactorily, I must say. As for now, I am unwilling to sell out. Good luck scamming other domain owners! -Gendou Hello, No that is not a website of ours. Our company itself does not have a website, while we are the owners of many website that are still administrated by their original owners, no hint of a network ownership is given on any of the pages. Gendou-san, well, I do not want you to sell Gendou.com. It will be entirely different if you don't own this. Besides, he did not introduce himself really well, for me that is. An e-mail is so informal. If he wants to have business with you, he should have arranged a meeting with you. I don't know. Iii na...be careful. ^_^ |
