Outgrow Anime?
Link | by ayame on 2006-01-01 19:37:21
Does anyone feel they will outgrow anime in the future or when they get older?

I've been wrestling with the question for quite a while and decided I could never give up anime. Not because it's fun, but rather it's a means of relaxation and escape after a day's work. I just hoope I can stand by that statement a few years from now. You?

I don't think I will, because when you get older there are anime meant for older people to watch. So in a way, you can never really outgrow it ^_^

Anime is for all of ages! I always watch them even if they were aired over and over again! because this is what I like and this is the thing that makes me unique and happy...

even if they erase my memory about anime, I'll still force my mind to remember it...

I too am in it for the long haul (more manga then anime), but I don't say that out of bravado. I've been at it since the early 70's.

If you really like the medium and want to stick with it, don't have too high of an expectation. Otherwise you might set yourself up for disappointment. As you grow older and your perspectives change, look wider; go beyond genre, style, artists, or even the medium itself. Let it go and you stand a better chance that it will grow with you. And if you drop it tomorrow, so be it. That way at least you won't be jaded to the medium (like some of my friends), and may even pick it back up at a later time.

No, Never! I Refuse! My parents didn't think much about my anime viewing because they thought it was a fad. But 16 years later Im still a fan and almost a full fledged Otaku. I would watch anime and play games all day long if I didn't have to work in order to pay for it. Oh well. I even went so far as to take Japanese as my language in high school and college. I have been an anime fan since long before it became popular. I remember paying $25-30 US for a single episode VHS. Which is also why when people cry about the price of anime DVD's I just remind them that just over a decade ago it was alot more expensive. Wow I feel old........ sonny get me my prune juice and my pills!

I don't think that I will ever give up anime. I may more into anime than when I first got into it. Also anime has held the friendship between me and all of my friends together for so many years. But now that we are going to different colleges, anime is just that more important to us. But I can't even image not being into anime any more.

I don't think that I can give up on anime..... I don't think I could actually give up something that has been with me for many years and is a part of my life.I've been quarreling with my parents about anime and I can't just throw away something that I've been fighting for so long ;_;
