I've heard this is a good series but I've never been able to work up the nerve to buy it. Could someone give me a BRIEF layout of the storyline (not enough to ruin the show for me). Let me know what you guys think about it as well.

It's hard to do a brief layout of it, but I'll try. It's 2015, and huge entities titled 'Angels' have been attacking Tokyo-3. To fight and destroy the angels, a company called NERV has created Evangelions, hand-to-hand fighting machines. Although the Evangelions are good at their job, they need certain 14 year old pilots to pilot them, and due to various circumstances, everything that the Evangelions feel their pilots feel also. I would type some more, but I'm not sure if it would spoil anything or not. Let me know if you want more. Good things about it: Very good backgrounds on characters, VERY good storyline lined with twists, awesome fight scenes, I like the dubbing (except Misato's voice), and I like the subbing. Bad things about it: Occasionally huge amounts of blood, some rather fake things, and (some people may like this) a few ecchi moments, some nudity, and air-tight suits. Swearing isn't that bad in the series. If you want to watch the End of Evangelion (movie), then make sure you can stomach all sorts of gruesome and disturbing images, and TONS of nudity.  |

| naw....not 200..i got my box set for 100USD. Personally, i think its a great anime, the nudity isnt that serious as Sachiel says. it has it, but its not so detailed that you can see everything. the gruesome and disturbing images arent that gruesome nor disturbing either :P. Its a great anime...to me that is >:D |

It's a classic, and really enjoyable for AT LEAST the first time through, just be careful when you're buying it (you'll notice there is a different age rating for each of the discs in the platinum version, some are 13+ some are 15+, some of the 15+ should be 17+ in my opinion so be careful) Otherwise it's an awesome series, especially for mech fans(like myself).

i think the rating is for its deep and confusing storyline... but other than that... its a great anime!!! ei, anyone has news regarding the live-action movie of evangelion??? |

neh!! I just recently know this spoiler from the series when im actually watching it when i was 10 yrs. old. >Rei is actually an angel reborn from Shinji's mom sorry i forgot the name!!! That's why gendou(father of Shinji) loves her very much.. I heard also that he just marry Shinji's mom coz she has the research funds, always makes her cry but realizes he loves her when she died during the accident before evangelions come.They have the same looks just remove the blue whitish hair of rei and change it into brown. >Shinji is not only child who is his bro or sister maybe!! >im confused of Asuka Langley Sorhyu family..full of suicide!! >d ya hear about Angelic days a manga where the episode ends are continued!

So far the Eva movie is still in the planning stages....if you want to see some concept images and other stuff i suggest you vist... "www.eva.trivialbeing.net".... As for my thought about the anime...the movies wrap up the entire series nicely...the tv ending was a joke.Evangelion is one of a kind and i doubt anything else will match the intensity that it displayed when it first came out.You have to keep an open-mind when watching it or you'll won't know whats going on.  |

There are 26 tv episodes...you can now get special editions of them....and 2 movies...actually 3...if you count "Death & Rebirth" as seperate and of course the last one "End of Evangelion"...there are also director cuts floating around as well...all and all you'll be spending a whole lot of $$$ if you want everything... Death/Rebirth are like summaries of the tv show...Rebirth (AIR) is the first half of "End of Evangelion". |

uhm, when i first saw this anime, i really didnt fully understand it since i was just around 9 or 10 then. Just a bit of information bout the "NEW EVANGELION" [I just copy-paste this from my other forum] ~SPOILERS: ALERT~ There is a hentai author who is re-writing Evangelion. There are three volumes so far and, I must say, this newly re-writen plot seems so much dramatic than the orignal plot. Having said that "a hentai author" is re-writing, the new series belongs to hentai category as there are occasional sex scenes and, due to copyright issues, the series has been named "Re-Take". A simple summery of the new plot is, Shinji becomes virtually invincible at operating eva ever since he was once sucked into Evangelion by accident (which does also happen in the original plot). Since then, his ability to operate an evanglion becomes stronger than anyone else, even stronger than Asuka. In this new plot, Shinji loves Asuka instead of Rei. And in this new plot, Shinji and Asuka makes out and becomes an offical couple. Rei, being jealous, tries to win Shinji. However, due to her inexperience in social interaction, she fails miserably. In the end, Rei hangs herself and dies. A new clone replaces her. As usual, this author refuses to reveal his real name on the books. Instead, here is a link to his website. http://www.kimigabuchi.com/ The drawing is quite similar to the original Evangelion manga. Although there are certainly some differences in drawing, it is still quite acceptable. This newly writen plot focuses on human relationship rather than the meetings that the original Evangelion tries to emphasis. I recall a quote, "Sex can be a powerful emotional tool." It applies to "Re-Take" very well. Asuka's last words to Shinji while self-destruction was counting down were unbelievably sad due to the level of intimacy they had.    |

wow 9 or 10 year olds shouldn't watch evangelion to prevent getting utterly confused in the later part of life

If you enjoy abstract ideas, and piecing together the plot through subtle hints and abstract scenes, then this anime is for you. If you answered no to the above, then prepared to be confused and to think alot, and do some more thinking, to finally reach the end of the series still confused and find yourself asking people on a forum of their take on the anime. However, there is a however, if you enjoy stuff blowing up, giant robot thingys, and cartoon boobies then this anime might be for you even if you answered no. ^_^` |

Eva is the ultimate Anime. It's liked by, pretty much, all Anime fans. It has the traditional GAINAX confusingness, with emotion, robots, and lots of FAN SERVICE!!! lol
