Most Underrated Game

| Everybody talks about the big name games (Halo, Half-Life, Final Fantasy MDCLXXV or whatever it's up to now, Grand Theft Auto, etc.) so much that one tires of hearing these names. So, seriously, what game (or games) do you think deserves much more attention than it received? Personally, I'd have to say that the Dark Cloud series never quite got its just rewards. Granted, the games weren't perfect, but they tried some interesting things and did a damn good job at it (especially 2). Nobody really ever gave 'em quite the recognition that they should've received, though... |

| There's some games that never got known on the main stream media either, except in magazines. You gotta look all over the place for games that will come out and games that already came out. I mean, Terminator: Dawn Of Fate was one of the most talked-about games in '02 and it never had one promotion in the main stream media, and Fight Club was shown in some game magazines, but had some bad ratings in some game sites. I played those two games and I respect them for what they got, despite some flaws. I think the media only posts the hottest games in the gaming market 'cause they would probably give a huge dollar sign to the companies that made them and reject the other games so that they would not be thought of on television or in the magazines, but will be recognized in stores and be rejected. |

I think the most underated games are: =========================== -Breath of Fire series -Front Mission series (not known from where I'm from in Australia and not even released there) -Baldur's Gate series (highly detailed, realistic, in terms of consequence, and complex RPG. Probably too COMPLEX to have many fans).  |

There was a game from Snes called Famicom Detective club part II, only released in Japan. I think the game was too good to not be released in US and europe. Btw Funsch, the Baldur's Gate games arent underrated, they have many fans, and won many awards ^^ |

| Ya, those are a lotta good games that were underated. I remember Earthbound got almost no attention when it came out, then became a sleeper hit. Not to mention several old rpgs for the saturn and the PS. |

| I was always busy back in the day when FFVIII and Xenogears we're released, and I never heard of Xenogears till like 3 years later. I think that was a totally underated game because the graphics we're lacking but they made up for it with a story and gameplay. Its my favorite RPG ever. |

Rising Zan for PS1. It wuz actually a good game(4 out of 5 - OPM), but the thought of a samurai cowboy probably didn't appease to gamers. To me, it was a precursor to Devil May Cry. Great story, good graphics(back in the day), and good moves. A must-have for any DMC fan |

| Never played Dark Cloud. I have Legend of Dragoon. I'm on the 2nd disc. Not enough time to play nowadays. How is Dark Cloud? I liked it in the 2nd how graphics were like the DBZ Budikai 2. I remember that poeple always called the character on the cover "rip-off of Link". I didn't care, but I can't find it in my area. |

I think Battle Tanx: Global Assault (notice the assualt part, the first one was garbage) is one of the more under-rated games. I'll admit, the graphics aren't that great, but it's so fun... Who woulda thought that missiles and lasers would be so fun? The campaign isn't too great, not too bad, just kinda there. The multi-player, however, totally owns ^_^ If you have a Nintendo 64, I suggest getting this game.  |

I saw the title of the post and came in to say Dark Cloud, but it's already been said. Personally, I gave up all hope on 2 before I got though the second dungeon, but Dark Cloud original was my favorite game for a long time. I never caught the Halo hype; first-person shooters just not my thing, I guess. Has anyone here played Kingdom Hearts? Admittedly, it has something to do with Final Fantasy. I just think that some people might not give it a chance because it has Disney characters on the front cover. Really, an awesome game. It's adventure-style instead of an RPG like the Final Fantasies. |

kingdom hearts isn't underrated. it's pretty popular, and one of my most favorite games! hopefully kh2 will be just as great.     |

Yeah definitely have to say, breath of fire didnt get the attention it deserved, hmm suikoden was amazing and everyone knows it, it just didnt get as well circulated as final fantasy.

Heavy Gear 2, PC game from 1995, Mecha.. still has more features than mecha games today. over 100 variants and near near 500 weapons types..can carry around 9 weapons. Its amazing how much time you can kill trying out different weapon combos... wont run on XP need a 98 system.

i'd say super smash bros melee for gamecube. its not that popular but its fun(not when your playing comps)and it still sells pretty well
