While searching on Youtube i found this : Top 100 RPG themes. So it got me thinking, what game theme is considered the GREATEST OF ALL TIME!! Is it the legendary music of Zelda, the famous jingle of Super Mario Bros., or is it something more current like the HALO theme or maybe Metal Gear Solid? Perhaps the greatest is from an RPG? Could it be One-Winged Angel from FF 7 or the 17 min masterpiece that is Dancing Mad from FF 6? Or is the simplicity of the theme from Tetris?! It is up to you to decide!!!! Here is how we are going to find out in the minds of Gendou members what is the the best theme of all time. 1: There will be 2 Main Categories - RPGs & Other - RPGs are any game that has characters earn experience & level up - other are action, adventure, SHUMPs, driving etc. 2: Each main category will have 5 minor categories that consist of the following. - Battle themes &/or Boss theme - main title theme - vocal songs (words with music) - sad themes (may include love themes) - other themes (your choice) 3: The song or theme that is suggested the most will be crowned the GREATEST THEME On GENDOU!!! In case of a tie there will be a vote to determine the winner! If there are other categories that are better suited feel free to suggest them. The goal of this is to find out what video game theme is the: BEST OF ALL TIME!!! in the eyes & minds of Gendou.com members. There are a couple rules to follow: 1: Must know the name of the song if there is one...you can't just call it Battle theme. Unless that is what it is called. Of course include the name of the game it is from. Kinda making you guys do your homework :P 2 : Have fun of course!!! If you want ideas of songs use the link i gave at the top. ********************************* So without further adieu lets see what song come out on top!!!  |

question sir, so we need to gather our top 10 for every category? example, our top 10 "battle themes" for the RPG genre our top 10 "main themes" for the OTHER genre etc?

Yeaaaa...it was a little confusing in a way for that reason <___> soooo, are we stating reasons for why the game is the best for that theme, or it has that best theme, or stating games that have that best theme, ehhhh...?  |

Do you think that is too much or should i lower it to 5? I put 10 cause i assume there are alot of music or songs that are great and it may be difficult to just pick 5 faves. 10 i think will give users more choices. As for your question. Yes! Although it may be long posts, you don't have to do everyone right away. You can do each one at a time. I'll keep track of all the lists & songs to add up. After a set amount of time we'll declare the BEST (for each category) The date i'm thinking is the end of the year..so in about 3-4 months from now. Take your time cause i know it'll be hard for some. Right now i'm trying to make my lists. As for Mr.TIE's question. No you don't have to post why, just what are your fave themes from games...for example (i'll use 3 cause it is short) RPG boss theme 3 - Dancing Mad - FF 6 2 - Seymour - FF 10 1 - Zeromus - FF 4 Sorry if the instructions are abit confusing. It was on short notice so i just posted without doing much planning. Hopefully the example i posted will give you guys the idea. |

What a unique topic, but its too hard to think of the theme so quick. I'll start first ^^ SRW is considered as RPG. Units level up to become stronger. RPG: 1. "Crest of Z's" by JAM PROJECT used in Super Robot Wars Z as main theme/vocal song 2. "Shipu Jinrai" in Super Robot Wars Alpha 3 used as Dairaioh's Theme 3. "Justice to Believe" by Nana Mizuki used in Wild Arms 5 as main theme/vocal song 4. "I look up to the sky because you are there" by Kaori Aso in WILD Arms IV as main theme/vocal song 5. "Force Your Way" in Final Fantasy VIII as boss theme Other: 1. "Zero no Chouritsu" by Tsukino Amano used in Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse as main theme/vocal song 2. "Realize" by FLOW used in Eureka Seven TR2: New Vision as main theme 3. "Koe" by Tsukiko Amano used in Fatal Frame III: The Tormented as main theme 4. "BRAVE HEART" by Kotetsu Kyoudai used in Bakusou Kyoudai Let's & Go!: Eternal Wings as main theme 5. At first I thought its choosing 5 of any type of the minor categories, I just realize its just one of the following m.categories. I just have a question. If the 2nd category is Others, then is RPG still included in this category? BTW ZOE: the 2nd runner is also RPG. Fatal Frame is also RPG, experience points are used for enhancing the obscura camera. Anyways, here's the edited list. whoa the totals add up to 100, 10 categories with 10 songs each, this sure is fun ^^a *starting to gather some info* and I'm fine with either 5 or 10 and that's a good point but I don't think SRW is considered as a RPG, it's more like a turn-based-strategy, as in FFT and FFTA are considered active-time-strategy and not RPGs. Correct me if I'm wrong

@ hm You are wrong! It's like you said that Final Fantasy Tactics A2 is not an RPG. SRW is definitely RPG. You take a role of the original character. You can even edit its profile. RPG (Role Playing Game) is a game in which the participants assume the roles of fictional characters. Participants determine the actions of their characters based on their characterization, and the actions succeed or fail according to a formal system of rules and guidelines. Within the rules, players can improvise freely; their choices shape the direction and outcome of the games. Follow the road you believe in --> |

For this any RPG is considered as long as characters gain experience & level up. So turn based RPGs like FF tactics or even World of Warcraft are acceptable. SRW is considered a tactical RPG so what Sumner-san posted is alright. @ Sumner-san Those are some great songs you posted. But can you edit your list so i know which category each song is for? Since i have to keep track of everyone's list as well as the categories i don't want to make any errors. owh alrighty then, thanks for clearing that up ^^ and I'm kinda confused here, so it's only one theme for each category? I thought it's 5 for each of them, resulting in a total of 50 themes? eg: 5 songs for RPG genre, main theme category 5 songs for RPG genre, battle theme category 5 songs for OTHER genre, main theme category etc?

@ H-san Sorry for the confusion but i finally planned everything out to make it much more easier. Instead of listing 10 songs for each i decided to make you guys list your MOST fave for each. So in the end you will have 10 songs all together. See my example above your post to get the idea. This way it saves post space & less time to come up with songs. Although i believe it will still be difficult to come up with a list cause you have to choose only one for each. If some still do not understand...here is another example RPG 1 song for Battle themes &/or Boss theme 1 song for main title theme 1 song for vocal songs (words with music) 1 song for sad themes (may include love themes) 1 song for other themes (your choice) Other 1 song for Battle themes &/or Boss theme 1 song for main title theme 1 song for vocal songs (words with music) 1 song for sad themes (may include love themes) 1 song for other themes (your choice) |

WOW! so far in the RPG category Yasunori Mitsuda-san has the upper hand on the 'GOD' of RPG music Nobuo Uematsu which is a little suprising. Also the Chrono franchise seems to be very popular with Gendouians so far. Anyways some mighty nice additions....i must say for everyone who has posted so far i appreciate it & you have MIGHTY FINE TASTE in music!!!! |
