Code Geass R2 licensed before even released!!
|
I just learned that Bandai licensed Code geass R2 before it was even released!! And most of the popular fansub groups dropped it since there scared. NOOO! I don't want to buy Bandai's overpriced DVD'S! I know that maybe a small fansub group might take it in! but...I'm worried!! the quality might not be just as good! ...Going with Bandai...they've become smarter in figuring out how to scare away fansub groups...that sucks!! Any opinion?? |

Hmm, have a good source about this information? That DOES suck though. I mean I was going to check it out since the ending of season one confused the crap outta me. ------- |

@rob since the one that license the anime gave warning email to them (shinsen, M.3.3.W) |
Re: Code Geass R2 licensed before even released!!

Minus fansub groups which are bigger and well known, there will anyways be some new group to fansub things regardless of what the warnings are. Example: Madlax when it was licensed by ADV in 2004 was dropped by everyone despite the tension of cracking down on fansubs (especially by ADV). Then your-mom appeared and fansubbed the last 1 or 2 episodes followed by a few other fansub group. It's funny because ADV even gave BOX a warning for having their titles for torrent (and BOX did remove the titles), however it's obvious there isn't much you can do to prevent fansubs from spreading whether you're talking about a more known fansub group or not. There will always be some group willing to do it if it's worth their time. In the case of R2, I am just about 100% positive fansubs will exist. Don't believe me? Come back and prove me wrong if there are no subs for it after a week or so. And honestly, I don't even want to bring up the number of bots over mIRC which will distribute those episodes once it comes out. Torrents aren't the only way to distribute Anime. Don't forget fansubs can be done by anyone who is bilingual in Japanese and English. Encoding and timers and so forth is a piece of cake after. |

@rob it's not that i don't believe, i do believe someone or group going to sub it, but putting it on torrent would be hard, but what on IRC zone that different story well then tell me, did you saw eureka 7 torrent anywhere it's hard, but IRC hahaha to bad i don't have IRC (maybe in near future i want to install it) anyway the legal company really getting strict about this matter |

wah?! they're doing this to MY C.C?! that's pretty sad to hear though... It would've been great if Shinsen or any other decent group fansub Code geass. But this is Code geass! i bet many people would be willing to provide high quality subs for an awesome anime such as this while hiding for threats from Bandai... ^^ |
Re: Code Geass R2 licensed before even released!!

Um yeah, I just looked and found the entire series of Eureka 7 on torrent. It's about knowing where to look. Using mIRC can only get you so far, but you can get certain things you can't get with torrents. Companies can give warnings but name me one case where they have actually filed some sort of lawsuit against any group. They are just general warnings. With the economy and blu-ray coming in to play, the last thing Anime companies really want to worry about are a few fansub groups. And I honestly don't think fansubs are to blame. If anything, blame the Anime fans who download without supporting Anime industry by buying DVDs or whatever else. Fansubs have existed long in the past, going into VHS. But back then, Anime was still a very small fandom where most of the dedicated Anime fans try and support Anime any way they can. Now, we have a bunch of idiots who are just... idiots and not think of the consequences of downloading can do. If you understand that Anime companies need support and you actually do support it, I don't know why anyone should feel guilty of downloading. It can only lead to buying more things because you realize those responsibilities. Anyways, I'm done. Take it or leave it I guess. |

well maybe not to the extend of filing them to court but to extent of destroying their web or even block it, dunno, but well you can see fansub rise and died as it is, well then i'm going to look for eureka now ^^ |

yup kinda heard bout the license thing too, but if im not mistaken there are subbers there that will not let pass this one xP like in true tears xP >>w00f subbed it if im not mistaken<< >>but luckily I can watch R2 without waiting for the sub xP<< >>just have to catch the airing time x3<< |
Re: Code Geass R2 licensed before even released!!

Like what others have mentioned, licensing a particular anime title may prevent some fansub groups from undertaking the project, though not all of them. If one can understand languages other than english, it is possible to watch them in those languages too. I believe popular titles will get licensed before they are released. Now that it has happened with Code Geass R2, I expect the same scenario to occur with Haruhi Season 2. |

Re: Code Geass R2 licensed before even released!!

OK, so I know there's a lot of issues currently about licensing and the anime industry, but this is just what I think. I do download fansubs, but at the same time, I know it's not exactly right because of the fact that the companies are getting no revenues whatsoever from it. I think that it's a good thing that this series was picked up because obviously, the companies can see how much potential it has. Yes, I loved the first season and I really, really want more. Personally, I'd like more right now. However, I'd much rather wait, buy the DVDs and give the companies and creators what they really deserve. If you really love the series that much, your money and support should be worth it. And it's not as if we're talking about some lame, unheard of series here. You know what to expect because it's Code Geass. And yes, I can completely and totally understand how it feels when the DVD releases take forever to come out. And yes, I can understand how it feels to buy DVDs that feel completely overpriced. 4 episodes for $20 sometimes feels crazy. But considering, just think about all that money that has to go to the American company that licensed the series, translators, the voice actors for dub (if it exists) and all those divisions in Japan that created the actual series. Any show this good is worth the wait and money. =.= Ok, I'm done with my rant now. This is from my point of view on the subject since I'm assuming this is Bandai USA. And that's just what I think. ^^;; |

I agree with Jow. However, I am kinda sad that I won't be able to see it for awhile. Same issue with Haruhi 2. I can wait until it gets to the USA, but it's sad that it'll have to wait ^^' |

@jow the thing is simple, if the anime get to my country and the price is reasonable, not some crazy prize the retail got, then i wouldn't mind buying the DVD, really i prefer the DVD, the DL have harddisk space issue, were the DVD is not, and i got to see the box, it's like legitimate thing. anyway the thing is. it's not going to my country, then some bootleg retail, giving way to reasonable price but with super lame quality. and not even original has set foot unless you order it from another country with tremendous extra price so the last option is to DL from fansub |
