I've been waiting for the OP, Blaze and the ED, Sociometry for a very long time now, and finally it's available today! Anyway, just my views after listening to the full version of both, I think Sociometry is a much better better song. What do the rest of you guys think? |

I've been a fan of KOTOKO's music ever since her days doing music for ero-games....her older songs are some of the best music i've ever heard!! However lately her newer songs are not up to par with the older ones....they're not as powerful...and these new songs for Shakugan no Shana II are no exception. First of all BLAZE is a very weak song....the song doesn't fit the animation in the opening to shana. The warping of KOTOKO's voice at points in the song distract you...i like it when she sings normally. For me the best part of the song is 2:32 in just before the odd middle techno instrumental. Overall i think this is one of her weakest songs to date. The instrumental version sounds better.... Sociometry is a much better song but still not as good as her older songs. There are some similarities in sound to her older songs...the chorus part sound similar to songs like Baldr Force & Gensou no Requiem & We Survive. It is a far superior song to BLAZE but i still won't put it in my top 20 of her songs.  |

I have to agree. I also prefer Sociometry over BLAZE, but I still like both songs.

Like said by many people, I was really really surprised when BLAZE started playing at the new OP. It certainly does not fit the characteristic of this anime AT ALL...too cutesy-ish. I haven't heard the full versions yet, but I'm pretty sure that I'll like Sociometry much more than BLAZE. I'm not a big fan of KOTOKO, since most of her songs, I find myself not liking them as much after a period of time, even if I listen to them after a long time. I like them for a few weeks or so, then it just goes byebye. :P |

Oh, forgot to say one thing about Sociometry. I liked how in the TV sized version, she doesn't sing right away. Instead, it's just the beat that's soft; as it fades in it gets louder then KOTOKO sings. In the full version though, she sings practically when you play the song. A tiny little thing maybe for some, but yeah that's just me, haha. ;P

-_- I like Kawada Mami better. KOTOKO is nice and all but in my opinion Kawada suits the series' openings better. I don't care for blaze as much as Sociometry. I love sociometry a lot though :3

@ DA: Yeah, now that I listened to the full versions, I know what you mean. I kinda like the TV sized versions' intro too...I like the gradual fading beats better than the immediate singing. Still, it's nice. :P |
