Mostly songs from Laruku, Hirano Aya, Ajikan, etc. I'm currently obsessed with MEILIN's "My Sweet Darlin" on her "Candy*Boy" singles album. ♥♥♥ But it usually takes a long time for me to loose interest in any given song. ![]() ------- |

It depends, there are very few songs that I still love after a looooong time of non-stop listening. XP Some I can think of right now are JOINT by Mami Kawada (from Shakugan no Shana II) and Over by riya/eufonius (from CLANNAD). |

To me, ANY anime music with a good melody (and vocals if any) I NEVER lose interest in.... Listening to SEASON'S CALL by Hyde as I type this. Before that it was Dress (Blood Trinity Mix) by BUCK-TICK. I don't know how the Japanese create long songs like these (and X-JAPAN'S FOREVER LOVE from X/1999) but PLEASE keep on doing it--they are DEFINITELY worth repeat listenings! :) At the far end are 2 'masterpieces'.... REQUIEM by Shoji Yamashiro as performed by Geinoh Yamashirogumi from AKIRA (1988) which clocks in at 14 minutes and 27 seconds which recaps the themes used in the movie in a vivid, memorable way. The other is a 'homemade' effort I did consisting of 3 tracks from the GUNBUSTER SOUND COLLECTION (1988) by Kohei Tanaka merged into a 16 minute, 27 second 'suite': 1) 'Welcome Home' (the 'end title' that tugs at your heartstrings like the end of the OAV did!) 2) 'Piano Coda' (don't know what its real name is as I cannot read Japanese -- a fitting counterpoint to 'Welcome Home') 3) 'The Gunbuster Suite' (a 'recap' of the themes used in GUNBUSTER. It clocks in at 10 minutes 14 seconds -- coincidently the same run time as TETSUO on the AKIRA OST) I call this THE GUNBUSTER MEGAFINALE and it is in the same leage as REQUIEM. And on the near end are 'one hit wonders' such as: 'Yo Pumkin Head!' from the COWBOY BEBOP Movie OST (the rest of the OST didn't do anything for me) 'Liar You Lie' from the NOIR OST (the rest of the OST was generic sounding jazz and not memorable) The Jubei Chan 'Main Title' (an electronica 'classic' using an electronic version of the traditional shamasen to complement and sweeten a catchy opening track - again, the rest of this OST is nothing to write home about, generic action music) And lots of anime music in between the two extremes: An early favorite is FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS from PROJECT A-KO (1986) one of the first anime movies I've seen. It will also inspire you to do just that. Another is 'When I Put On My Two Inch Heels' from the OST to BATTLESKIPPER (1995). This is the BEST anime song I've heard where the lead singers sound like they are on helium to sound cute/young! All the other such songs I've heard apart from this one sound forced and annoying as the singers struggle to sound cute/young. Another one is the 'Johnny' end title song from GALL-FORCE: ETERNAL STORY (1986). I'll bet they were dancing in the aisles to this end title theme when this movie played in theaters in Japan some 22 years ago--I would have liked to have been there to see that--I'm sure they were doing just that. That's all for now. I hope you enjoyed this post. |
