I say anything that isn't too peppy. It gets way too distracting. like, something just slow yet fast enough to drain out all the complaining in your mind and get you motivated. I'm not sure about ost, but I say good songs are:

most naruto endings, especially wind, yellow moon and ryuusei

Forever... by savage genius

LM.C songs

yeah.

well, for me,anything that fast and will keep my eyes open.usually i'll listen to ali project and naruo ost.but it depends on mood too, like if i want more focus i'll switch to something much slower, like masquerade (code geass) or persona 3 ost (i recommend p3 heaven mix,but it kinda long though)

I usually put a few OST onto a playlist (i use foobar2000) & just repeat the playlist over & over. The type of music varies.

Some examples:

CLANNAD albums (game OST, image album Sorarado, Memento...etc. all 12 albums i have)
I've sound (KOTOKO, Mami Kawada, Eiko Shimamiya, Kaori Utatsuki, Mell, MOMO...etc..)
Anime OST (varies on what i want to listen at that time)

Wow, I'm the type who needs soft, soothing music. Quick, loud, and fast paced music gets you distracted, does it not? ^^; Too much clutter. :/

Like Izumo, I listen to various soundtracks instead of songs. For example, Clannad. It has quiet music that's really beautiful, and keeps me in a good mood.

EDIT:
Also, if you like piano and violin instrumentals, I highly recommend works by Tenmon. For example, there's the OSTs of the three movies by Makoto Shinkai (Hoshi no Koe, Kumo no Mukou; Yakusoku no Basho, and Byousoku 5cm). Also, don't forget his latest works, the OST of Ef ~a tale of memories~. ^^
