i think yes, cuz sometimes if anime dont have the same story like the manga, it makes you confused of what the anime want to tell, besides it can happen sometimes like naruto, i really dont get what is the side quest for,i think those story (which not related to the main idea) should be made by them  |

Maybe there's a good reason that they need to twist the plot on the anime. It can be due to the future scenes, or there might be scenes in the manga that are deleted.  |

dunno..i cant get access to manga in this country..and i can't be bothered reading off them online..just tires ur eyes so much..i think i'd go for the happier/less dramatic/futuristic ending whichever it is in: manga/ anime but i know Nodame Cantabile's drama sticks quite close to the anime...although they did leave out some of the funny parts  |

I think that the overall story should be the same but enough should be different to keep those that have read the manga entertained. (Or vice-versa)

no because what's the point of creating an Anime if you already know exactly what will happen because you read it in the Manga! thats why the call it "an adaptation of ______ manga" in some anime they release... BTW, I still agree that stories in Manga is more interesting & detailed than in an Anime...  |

I don't really know. ^^' Sometimes it's just better that anime and manga both have different plots. You see it is quite pointless (and sometimes boring) watch anime first and then read manga when you know exactly what is going to happen. But if they have same plot I prefer reading manga first. ^___^ Manga is much more detailed and exciting. Besides it doesn't progress so quickly like anime so you don't know what is going to happen at once. ^^ |

They should have the same story, but then again it doesn't have to. Mostly, they do and the anime would add parts here and there that weren't in the manga. It'd be too late to edit anything so they can't really help it. For me, I'd say "yes". Anime and Manga should have the same story. Most of the time if the anime doesn't, then the fans who've read the Manga might become disappointed, irate, or even happier if the anime turns out better then the Manga. Manga appears to be more favorable with fans then when it comes to Anime.

I think yes. I also think that the anime is a good chance on understanding some things that are hard to understand in the manga. it's hapened to me once that i would read the manga and not understand something till i've watched the anime. it's ok to have some little changes but not too much (it would be boring if it were all the same)  |

It's best to start out with that objective in mind, but I don't think that it's necessary for the anime to turn out out exactly the same way the manga did. Every once in a while an anime will greatly improve the story taken from a manga series, and having a different ending isn't necessarily a bad thing. Personally, I like not knowing what happens at the end, so sticking strictly to the manga story would take that away if I've already read it.  |

It depends. If the plot was really good in the beginning then they should keep it the same way (but they don't have to make every single detail the same). However, if the manga was confusing and all messed up in the first place, then they should clean it up a bit xD |

Yes for me. I don't care if they add more action or anything, but the storyline need to be in accordance to the anime. That's why I hate fillers in the first thing. I hate to watch something that is different from what I already read.   |

I think to a point, yes. It should follow it's storyline. But to keep readers/watchers on their toes, they should change things up a bit. I have never been more bored in my life knowing exactly what is about to happen. That is the worst. I think that they have to at least add some characters, or change the plot a little bit, or add a 'side quest' if you will. As long as they don't drag it out, that is. ^__^  |

Most of my encounters with the anime vs. manga plot have lead me to expect that if you've already started watching the anime without picking up the manga (or without even knowing the manga exists), you are probably getting generally the same plot, characters, etc. For example, I saw most of Naruto before I read the manga, and I ended up skipping to ch. 241 to kill my boredom. The same thing happened with Bleach - although I did make an effort to read all of the manga anyway - and Samurai Deeper Kyo. Alternatively, I read the manga Death Note before the anime came out, and even though the story is mostly the same, the anime is really well done and adds some things here and there. Plus, it cleaned up some of the character interaction that I missed in the manga. And every now and then, you get some anime/manga pairs that are radically different - take Fullmetal Alchemist for example. If anything, the anime is an abbreviated form of the manga, and it seemed (to me at least) that the anime was directed at a larger age group than the manga. The manga is even still continuing - the anime has been finished, complete with movie, and released in its entirety in the US. There are some fundamental differences between the two, and sometimes they're difficult to keep track of...who exactly was Pride in the manga again? Agh! I guess what I'm trying to say is that if the stories are exactly the same, there is really no point in having both manga and an anime adaptation when less die-hard fans will get terribly bored when viewing one after reading/watching the other. There should be some differences, but nothing that would confuse people who have endeavored to enjoy both mediums. They do have the same name, after all. ...I apologize for the whingeing. |

anime should be the life reflection of the manga right? if anime and manga have a lot of differences (like negima anime and it's manga) how can you sure which one (from the anime or the manga)is the real story |

| I would say not really since if you read the manga and want to watch the anime and nothing is new it could be boring but on that note i would say it should stick around the manga and change a few things to make it different in a way that makes it interesting |

| yes for accuracy and legitimacy of the story..why will you change what the author of the manga created? i mean the anime should follow the manga it adapts since anime brings the actions and characters to life..they should also be faithful to the story to avoid confusion.but since not not all anime can be as detailed as manga its understable to omit certain details...so watching the anime and reading the manga completes the experience of the show |

I prefer that the anime follows the manga. I don't mind a few changes, but I found anime that strays too far from the manga kinda annoying.   |
