Your able to format a computer from the startup settings which can be accessed before the user password screen even comes up. This also takes place before the other programs activate. So to my knowledge there's no way to prevent someone from formatting. I guess you'll just have to either deal with it, confront the guy about it, or just find some way to watch him. |

another method is to supply a password at the startup, this will cause the user to type in a password in order to start the PC. just a question: is the computer yours or the computer shop's? |

@Bloodymoon - >.< I completely forgot about that! You can set a password on the BIOS and core computer settings to prevent changes to them (Which includes formats.). Of course as Kay's question asks, you need to have the right to do this and from the sounds of things (Such as you hiding your torrents) you don't. |

There is one way on preventing a user to formatting a HARD DISK! How will a user format a computer's hard disk when the computer have no hard disk at all. That's right! Get the hard disk of that particular computer and hide it somewhere. That's the solution! Hehehehe! But you can do that simple technique if you are the owner of that computer, but if not, you're commiting a crime of STEALING! Do those good things in order to save your files if you are using someone's computer. 1. If you didn't owned the computer or you're using a computer from a computer shop, better ask the OIC or the Manager of the Computer shop to save and keep your downloaded torrent program. That's the second option. 2. If you have enough funds, you must buy a flash disk in saving those downloaded files. I recommend above 1GB Flash Disk Drive in order to transfer big files. That's the third option. But some reasons, there is other way to prevent a user to format a hard disk. I don't know how, but I see one. Even in DOS or Windows mode, when a user execute format command, it will read like this... .Sector 0 is not Found or Corrupt... .Disk Unusable... or something like that. I will ask my friends how did they do that. Note: Even the computer is Password protected, there is other way to format the hard disk. |

Well from what I know/read theres a handful of ways to prevent a format, though what shall thou do if it is?(re formated) Owwwkie, the shop person can easily delete/format the HD from DOS mode, windows XP boot disk and same with 98, so for now lets say he did format them. Only way you can do is to get a program that recovers those files(I.E. Partition recovery and etc). Or, just hope that he deletes the drive that doesn't have the torrents in them (if theres two partitions). and yes, one program can easily get your torrents back if or when a drive is formatted and/or deleted. Another suggestion is to copy the files into both(if theres two) partitions and hope that he doesn't delete both. :3 but eh, I'd do what Ruy suggest, get a USB disk and just transfer the files. Goodluck protecting your torrents. :3 hope that kinda helps...(I doubt it did. XP) |
