Also, when i start up my comp, i get the error, A:DSIK ERROR It is also observed when my comp auto resets, sometimes, it is unable to startup agian(cant reset) the fan seems to have stopped. Ya i noe my expression is poor... ![]() A friend of today is an enemy of tomorrow. I am an empty shell. I don't feel loved at all ![]() |

don't worry, you're in the right place hmm...a few questions: 1)have you tried a scanning your pc for viruses or adwares? 2)for your disk error, is there any floppy disc in the floppy drive? 3)exactly how old is your pc? what model is it? |

Possibly a corrupted HDD. This could mean you need a new one or just reformat WinXP back onto it. It seems unlikely that it would be a virus, though the error does suggest something with a floppy drive. |

If the computer fan has died that could be the cause of the restarts. Having a bad cooling system leads to instability and reduces the life of components. To see if this is the problem, open your computer case and see if any of the fans have stopped spinning while the machine is on. Also, look for large clumps of dust that may be blocking airflow and remove them. IMPORTANT: When opening your computer case, try not to touch any of the circuit boards if you can avoid it. Also, ground yourself by touching a metal part of the case before putting your hands near components to avoid electro-static discharge.

Hmm... i've tried a HDD check... no bad sectors. Reformatted... The fans r all spinning... *spin* And i dun have the floppy drive. The problem seems to be more comman when i disable my floppy drive at the BIOS... T.T And my comp is 8mths old. Its custom XD ![]() A friend of today is an enemy of tomorrow. I am an empty shell. It could be a problem with the power supply, the HDD, or even an overheating issue, though I would expect it to just randomly shut off rather than restarting. |

Check your ram and battery. It happen to me when I first bought my pc. It restart unexpectedly all the time. It solve after I get rid of my old ram. |

if you have another pc, try to put the ram on it, to test. If that pc also restart randomly, that mean it was the ram problem. Check other hardware too. I doubt the power suply cause if the power supply problem it will randomly shutdown not restart. |

The A:Disk Error just means that basically there's something wrong with the floppy drive. I'd try reinserting the cables to fix that. As for all of your other problems, the RAM could theoretically be the cause of the restarts, but if it has trouble on startup multiple times as you say, it sounds like it's more than like either the motherboard or power supply. If you have another computer around that you could test a power supply from that you know works, that would be preferred. If that doesn't fix the problem (I'd recommend reinserting all power cables just to be sure too), then it's more than likely the motherboard. I'm gonna be frank, if the motherboard's the problem, you're pretty much just gonna have to get a new computer. Replacing a motherboard is like replacing the entire engine system of a car.

I cant try replacing the RAM coz the ram in my old comp doesnt fit =.="" And sometimes i see faded black words, so could the graphic card be the cause instead? Or could the ram or motherbaord be damaged coz the ram is only 512 and the motherboard is like 3.02Ghz? T.T PS. i dun have a floppy drive~~~, but i'll try getting a better ram card ![]() A friend of today is an enemy of tomorrow. I am an empty shell. I don't feel loved at all ![]() |

i had a similiar problem and it turned out to be overheating (graphics card fan was broken) you could also try getting another 512mb stick of ram, they're quite cheap. see if changing it helps. if that wasn't it you can upgrade to 1gb :P computer auto resetting is done by windows, by the way. normally you'd get the fabled "blue screen of death". you can turn off the auto reset so you get this error report instead, in windows xp it's like this: -open My computer -rightclick on white background, go to properties -go to the "additional settings" page -go to the settings of "startup and recovery" -uncheck "restart automatically" i don't have an english winxp so the wording might be a little different.. |

I cant really see the graphic card fan as it is on the underside... but i feel the wind so i ASSUME the fan is ok... but its very dusty though. When theres an error, my computer will go though a couple of resets, (eg. 1st is i do things halfway reset, the when the loading screen appears it resets for a few times) and when i finally get to the desktop, it say its caused by a 'stop error'. ![]() A friend of today is an enemy of tomorrow. That occurs to me on occassion...could it be a problem with one of your hardware 'drivers'. Maybe update all of your drivers just in case...for me it was my graphic card that needed to be updated. Older graphic cards don't really have a fan....the newer models nowadays do have one... |

Was this computer ever running normally? If yes, was there anything specific that you might have done to make it unstable? If not, then IMO not likely drivers issue or anything really fixable. Also, you said at the top that a fan wasn't spinning, and now it is? I'm confused... and is it CPU fan, graphics fan, PSU fan, or a case fan that stopped running? I'd however like to try something, if your computer can stay logged in enough to try. Download and install Speedfan http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php Run it, see how your hard drive fitness is doing. Also check the voltage lines and temperatures. Put them up here, if you can stay logged in enough to record values. Do you know what sort of computer you have, such as motherboard, Gpu, PSU (Wattage and amp on 12V plz), number of disk drives, etc. I am still somewhat noob at computers, but just trying to organize questions to make it easier to pinpoint problem. |

My computer was running normally... this happened for the 1st time when it rained for weeks. it got better this few weeks (no resets YET) could damp conditions cause this? The fan which stopped is the CPU fan. Even though the resets seems to have stopped, the NVRAM: A: disk error bothers me. My neighbour did a harddisk check for me, i better prey it is a harddisk problem. Or things will get complicated. I'm also very confused. I cant trouble shoot with my old cpu parts as there are abit too old. i'll try the cpu fan speed thing. ![]() A friend of today is an enemy of tomorrow. I am an empty shell. i've also experienced that problem.. i think it is not a harddisk problem... try unplugging the graphics card, then plug it again.. restart your pc and see what happens.. ![]() |

I unplugged it and put it back, it solves the problem temporary. After a few days, the word become 'blur' agian Fan1:0RPM Fan2:1250RPM fan3: 0RPM Temp1:47C Temp2:47C Temp3: -48C HD0: 42C Motherboard: MSI 915/ G neo2 I have 1 Hard disk, which is 80 GB but is split into 2 drives: C and D 1 CD drive no floppy. im not sure abt the GPU and PSU tho. ![]() A friend of today is an enemy of tomorrow. According to your statement, the problem was cause by low ventilation and the Floppy Disk Error. There are some few reasons why a computer restart abnormaly. 1. Due to overclocking activities. 2. Power Supply Problem 3. WORM 4. Static or hardware connection fault. 5. Cause by a power interuption occuring when using the computer. 6. BIOS Failure or Wrong BIOS Tuneup. 7. Low Ventilation (45 Degrees CPU Temp and above will cause this) (I forgot the 3 reasons, so better to think or research about it) The solution will be uncover if you know that cause of the problem. And the possible reasons that you say is your Floppy Disk Drive Error (Hehehehe! Sorry! It is WRONG!) Even you just disconnect it, disable your Floppy drive disk, or leave it untouch, it doesn't cause the abnormal restart in your system. Even the RAM problem doesn't do with this problem. The only thing you can do is to do this. 1. Try to place your system unit in a stable place so it will not be shake or bump. 2. Expose your hardware inside your System Unit by removing the side cover of your System Unit Chasis. 3. Use a Cooling Temperature Gel or Temperature Transper Gel in your CPU if you able to. 4. Be sure that the CPU Fan is running smoothly. 5. Check your Power Supply that is firmly attach to the motherboard. According to your other statement that when it rains, your Computer experience less abnormal restart. It is because of the cool temperature, NOT THE HUMIDITY (Thick humidity is the worst enemy of the Computer) |
