Hey!!! I had my braces since last year May 2006. At first it was very uncomfortable.You're still adjusting to it.You can't speak that clearly at first.Like it creates wounds in your inner lips and cheeks(which is part of it and normal accdg. to ortho).You have difficulties eating. like start with soup or noodles or soft stuff that's easy to chow down. But sooner or later(days weeks depends) you get used to it and because in my case the metal thingy on each teeth (that holds the metal wire) are somewhat pasted on the teeth so I get to eat anything after(careful with the hard to chew food)hehe.You'd have problems if it isn't pasted on. Every month though it gets tightened up(so it slowly fixes your teeth)and the ortho replaces the colored thingy on the metal thingy on teeth(sorry don't know term). So yeah now it's a year and it's taken off and replaced with retainers(metal things to hold it up so it won't go back to it's original state)then you again adjust to it and you have not so clear speech again.You'll get used to it. That's it.Only worry about getting the pasted things off! Ouch! Advice: Don't get them if not needed and it's really expensive. Ok?

I've had them for... eight months now? Yes, they hurt like hell starting the night you get them. It was so bad... the orthdontist gave me this chew thing to make it hurt less, but it hurt even worse when I chewed it. I hated not being able to eat anything...! I hate feeling so helpless T_T That wasn't even my worst experience with them. The absolute worse time was one of those teeth tightening sessions. That night, I couldn't even breath in my mouth or touch my teeth without them aching like no tomorrow. Beware those tightening sessions... |

I used to have braces. I can't tell you that it's a totally pleasant experience. It's kind of painful for a few days when you get them tightened. It'll probably hurt the most when you first get them put on because your teeth aren't used to all the pressure. You also have to be careful about what you eat because certain foods can bend or break the braces. The orthodonist will go over with you what foods you can't eat, such as gum and hard candy. But braces really aren't as bad as they seem. It may be painful at time, but the results in the end are worth it. =) |

I have braces... they kinda hurt when u just tightened them... and when u just got them... other than that I've had braces for nearly 4 or 5 years and have not many complaints |

Wanting braces even when you don't need it, eh? You wouldn't want it, believe me. Having braces right now, and it sure doesn't feel good. Almost can't chew food, and it doesn't feel nice when the braces rub against the inside of my cheeks. Hope I can get them off soon...   |

I'd love to have braces since they look cute and cool but my dentist doesnt require me to wear these so I just hev to enjoy my life without braces hahahahah ^.^ but maybe sooner I'll hev to get one ^.^ that'll be good too!!

I'm using braces now. I've got it 3 weeks ago. Just 2 days before my exams started. When the dentist put it in your mouth you won't fell hurt. But I almost got choked by my own drool, coz my mouth kept secretioning saliva (I have to keep my mouth opened for almost an hour). But after it, I couldn't eat anything properly. I have to resort to porridge and cream soup to keep me alive. Even boiled eggs that usually felt so tender on my mouth suddenly transform in to a rock. But after 5 days, I could eat bread, rice and noodles again. And after a week I was able to eat meat again. But my some of friends are not as fortunate as me, because they felt as if they were in hell for 2 weeks. It's never hurt me (except that prohibition on chocolate since it's sticky). Still, I have to take Diazepam to keep me focus on my exams instead of my teeth and its new prison, since my teeth keep pulsating as if I had another heart grow on my mouth. Good luck with the braces then! EDIT: I just got back from my monthly visit to tighten the braces. The dentist said that maybe I wouldn't have to wear it for 2 years -grinning & cheering-. But unfortunately, four of my teeth had to be taken down. Eventhough she said that it wouldn't hurt much, for the teeth have move a bit, for me it hurt A LOT!!! |

had them for 2years i actually didnt mind them much at all^^ infact it looked okay..better than i thought it would be ~ totally hated the idea at 1st..the thought of it just made me think i'd look kinda dorky lol..but itz the price u hafta pay for 'beauty' =D good thing is u get to decide + choose the colour of ur bands in front worse part is getting the mould done where the orthodontist stick this sickening pink rubbery substance into ur mouth..letting it sit for a while..& then pull it out forcefully :{ but the 'suffering' all ends when u finally take them off, the braces..ur teeth feels very smooth on the 1st day^^ *smiles*  |

they suck. right after you get them, your mouth is really sore and you can't eat hard food. Then they get better unless you have to get the Molar-rotator or rubber bands. They aren't painful, just annoying.

i HATE braces. i hope they DIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! *calms down*..^^ and yes, i have braces right now...i'm getting them off tho!! in like...10 days!!! yeyyyyyyyyyyy~!!! ^0^

I hope I never get braces. To me, my teeth seem fine and healthy enough, but if I visit a dentist, which I haven't done in like, years, they might have a different obligation on how to "make them healthier." I just hope I never get them. My friends who did/do have 'em, say it's the worst, especially the pain at times.

I'm not sure. My bro had braces and they didn't cut his gums. Luckily, I didn't have to have braces. It looks like a pain to keep clean.

| The Dentist called me yesterday and said that they would have to cut my gums(this is after approximately 2 years after getting braces, not at the beginning),does everyone who gets braces be required to get their gums cut? |

It hurt for a while...and that's it...for me... I think I have an unusually high threshold for pain, according to my friends. I eat like I'm not wearing braces at all while others can't eat due to the pain! 届ã‹ãªãã¦ã‚‚ 追ã„ã‹ã‘㦠|
