Athrun is best for pure skill (from his military training)...for most part ability to stay calm...close range combat...and leadership qualities. Kira is best for his ability to survive outnumbered encounters...quick judgement in the field....honor in chivalry (not harming people)...long range combat....and overall ability (he is the ultimate co-ordinator) Shinn is...umm...well...i'm currently watching GSD (yes i'm slow)...so i can't judge him quite yet....i can say he's brash and cocky...a gung-ho view to battles. So my take..Athrun is more well-balanced than Kira.Athrun by a hair.  |

kira... the reason he was defeated in battle with shinn's core splendor is that he was too busy worrying about the archangel for it was hit by the minerva when they are about to dive into the sea. he was not in full concentration and wans't even looking to the enemy. (episode 33) as if he was not seriously fighting with shinn. lucky for shinn... hehehe. but his good too if he wasn't just a violent brat! |

Well, I like Athrun Zala one of my 1/60 scale figures that i managed to buy. Well, Athrun is a kind of guy who really so concerns about his teammates (mentioned on the Gundam Seed episode). I think all 3 are pretty good pilots although Kira would have to be at the top.

Kira is too much of a wimp, he only disables other Gundam's and when he does kill somebody he has a mental breakdown. Kira is also a hypocrite, he speaks of ending the war without having to kill, but the minute someone he cares for is killed he goes insane and wants to completly destroy the person who killed him/her. He preaches to others but doesn't stick to his own beliefs. To put it simply, he is a priest trapped in a soldiers's body.    |

| I would like to say Shinn but I can only base my judgement on how things turned out in Gundam Seed & Destiny even though I know they deliberately reworked the script in GSD but anyhow I say Athrun even though I hate to admit it. In Seed when Athrun fought Kira in that battle where he self-destructed his Gundam and ejected, he is winner even though both of them survived. In Destiny where Athrun and Shinn fought in final episode, he defeated Shinn. Although I can whine about Luna's interference and Shinn's lack of concentration, I admit Athrun is winner on top based on the result. |
