Yeah, they did the same thing in Diamond and Pearl, you had to go to Cynthia's home town in order to see the Legendary from the other game (Fought Palkia in Pearl, so you didn't see Dialga. Fought Dialga in Diamond, so you didn't see Palkia). |

My my, a small tournament with possible shiny as a prize? I wish the MC gook luck finding a shiny to give away. That reminds me I have to learn how to clone so I can make me a box full of shiny Chamander with dragon type egg moves. Chaining is hard trust me! I tried that once, and I was only able to go up to 15 at best. So many pokemon at my disposal, so many options to choose from, and so many ideas for forming new teams. I have like... 10 or so Gyrados(don't ask why), and I plan on getting me an Aggron(screw Torterra) as a tank. I have two Infernapes that vary in natures yet do the exact same thing ATM. I have a Bagon I have yet to train, a Larvitar to hatch(then train), and then... I don't know. So yeah... that's how I roll when playing Pokemon, and on the odd day I might decide to use hax to speed up hatching and grant me med supplies, but other than that I'd rather EV train(then use Rare Candy). So yeah... count me out of the tournament for the fact I use HAX. EDIT: I was on GTS earlier and I saw a Shiny Lugia LVL 100, and the person offering it asks for a Lugia LVL 100. I accept and send in my Lugia, and when I get Shiny Lugia I then learn the truth... it was a hacked pokemon. It had no origin whatsoever. |

I already got my Pokemon Platinum just not too long ago <3 Although I haven't gotten that far through the game yet, [still 3 badges away] I've tried to wi-fi. I'm only up to Wi-Fi plaza since I'm not ready for battles. Anyone here wants to register a friend code? :D ![]() |

@Imppy- I am. :D I only just beat the Elite Four last night. I'm currently in the Battle Frontier (I had today off and wasn't feeling too hot, so I spent all of the day farming money from the rich trainers in order to buy cool stuff for my villa). Haven't faced any of the 'Frontier Brains' yet, because survival mode types of gameplay aren't really that interesting to me. I still need to tackle Stark Mountain though. My Sinnoh League Champion team: Gardevoir [Female](Level 60) Empoleon [Male](Level 65) Garchomp [Male](Level 58) Ninetails [Female - Shiny](Level 60) Mismagius [Female](Level 62) Tropius [Female](Level 57) Tropius was nearly useless to me through the entire E4 battles, so I think I will get rid of it and go back to Staraptor or some other Flying type Pokemon. |

@Jonathan I would've replaced my Tropius with an Altaria if I were you. |

Continuing the theme of 3rd gen pokemon I was wondering if anybody had an adamant or impish Aron to trade, and if so I'd be more than willing to make a good offer. I have yet to beat the Elite 4 on Platinum since I'm busy doing a series of trades throughout the internet. I've come across several Darkrai, and a couple of Shaymin. About that tournament: I have the shiny Charmander quirky natured with a few egg moves(as mentioned earlier), and if the organizer of the tournament can't find a shiny then I'd be willing to donate it. |

Well I was able to track down my Shiny Vulpix in the wild after I had found a copy of LeafGreen to stick in, so I'm alright at chaining. I could probably find another shiny if I put a day aside for it. Question is which one, since some shinies look awesome and some just look slightly different. Shiny Charizard does look hard core though. |
Re: Pokemon Platinum

I have yet to familiarize myself with Eggs and EV's. OTL Although that will come to a halt until I'm actually far off the game. So far I haven't caught any uber strong pokemon, guess I'll just have to be patient xD @ Jonathon yei c: But my Pokemon are like...40's. lol. ![]() |

@Imppy- I rarely hatch Pokemon from Eggs, mainly because they start all the way at lvl 1. -_- I did hatch a Misdreavus however in order to get the Mismagius I have now. I had to catch and trade over a male and female Misdreavus from my sisters copy of Pearl since I can't catch them in Platinum, and I bred them because I wanted the Original Trainer to be me and not my sister. I don't pay much attention to EV's. I know that Pokemon will have better stats if they win battles against other Pokemon on their own as opposed to leveling them up via Day Care or Rare Candies, but I don't go as far as to train in certain locations against certain Pokemon in order to boost specific stats. Seems a bit unneeded to me, unless I planned on battling online a lot and wanted to be the very best, like no one ever was. @Imppy- Mine are only level 60, plus, online battles have a rule which lets all Pokemon be leveled up or down to level 50 for an even match. So even if you don't have the same level Pokemon as us, you can still battle with us because we'll be using the Level 50 All rule. |
Re: Pokemon Platinum
|
@ Jonathon oh I get it now. I haven't battled online before so I didn't know the rules [I only briefly read the newly made ones like the restrictions on legendaries and some items] nahh I won't take the EV that seriously though x3 considering the fact that it will take an amount of time to reach that far. Battling online might be fun though. I get to see how other people use their strategy. ![]() |

Imppy: go on youtube and look up pokemon wifi battles, and you'll see how intense people are. EV training isn't all that time consuming actually, as a matter of fact depending on what items you use and the luck you have gaining the pokerus then EV training will take less time than regular training. Another thing that makes competitive battling intense is the fact that people need breeders(like me) to give some of their Pokemon egg moves and basically what that actually is; is a special move it can be passed on through it's father. |

I use Serebii.net to see what moves the Pokemon could learn through Eggs, and I don't think I have ever found myself wanting an egg move personally. @Imppy- It's also more entertaining than going up against computers that you can predict all the time and that don't use stupid moves like Protect as many times as possible in order to draw the battle out. >.> |
Re: Pokemon Platinum

@ wind-spear oh those virus things. I have none of those yet, although it's not like it's a bother. @ Jonathon Yeh I wanted to btw what's the difference between hacked Pokemon and genuine ones? Except for loss of challenge and honesty, I mean. Is it the stats or something? ![]() |

I'm glad you asked Imppy. How to identify a hacked pokemon? There are various things to look out for when identifying a hacked pokemon. I'll use the shiny Lugia I got from GTS as an example. You know when it tells you where you met a pokemon right? Well Lugia had no origin, it just had "-------------" as its origin, and also it has 00000 as it's id. The stats didn't look all that impressive for an Uber so since it was a hacked pokemon I got from GTS, I decided that some poor noob was destined to acquire that poorly hacked pokemon. Another thing about hacked pokemon is stats, IVs, EVs, and Ability. Some people will make pokemon with perfect IVs(31 IVs per stat), max EVs(that overall exceeds the 510 limit) for each stat, so 255 EVs for every stat, and an unnatural ability(such as Spiritomb/Sableye with Wonder Guard). So yeah there are the prime factors in identifying hacked pokemon I hope I was of assistance. EDIT: there was one thing I forgot to mention about hacked pokemon and it's stats. Sure I've covered EV/IV/natures but stats are pretty much what makes a hacked pokemon... well a hacked pokemon. A for sure sign that a pokemon is hack is 999 stats. 999 for every stat which is unreal even for Arcues. |

@Imppy- Basically, if you are entering a battle with someone or doing a trade (if it's possible to) just check the Pokemon over. If it has moves that you don't believe the Pokemon can actually learn (like a Charizard with Hydro Pump for an obvious example) or it has really high stats and it isn't that high of a level then it's probably hacked. Other things that tip you off if you're trading, look at the Pokemon being traded. How many people do you think would keep loading and saving in order to encounter a Shiny Legendary, just to trade it away to you for some random Pokemon. A Shiny Legendary is probably the best you can get. |
Re: Pokemon Platinum

well if the tournement is going through then im in it cause i like shiny pokemon. then we just need to set all the rules and make sure everyone is able to play at once.

It doesn't need to be everyone at once. All we have to do is make sure each person has the others friend code (the other people in the tourny). Then the two people who currently have their match scheduled will have to try and be on at the same time. That is the only problem with this set up, getting both people who have a battle scheduled on at the same time for their battle. The time zones are all over the place and people have other things to do, so it might be hard to get a battle going. |

As tempting as the tournament's becoming I'm afraid I'm still have to stay out of it, but however Imppy... you wanted to experience competitive battling? I challenge you to a match tomorrow evening 9:00 PM Gendou time, and if you win I will give you an EV trained Jolteon. |

@wind-spear: That reminds me, thank you for being man enough to admit that you use cheats and volunteer to stay out of the tournament, instead of trying to hide it and attempt to beat everyone with hacked Pokemon. |

3 more badges to Elite Four. ~ >.< For the tourney you guys talk about, why don't we make it 'Free Level' instead of 'Level 50' rule. It'll helps alot as some pokemon would have unbalanced stat when they're reduced to Level 50.And yeah,EV isn't that important.Just have the right Nature and refrain from using Rare Candies will help your Pokemon be strong enough to pack a punch.I think by early June all the people here would be prepared for wi-fi battles. Here's the set of rules which I think is fair enough for the tourney; Free Level No Hack-Ed No Ubers Species Clause [ If anyone disagrees with the rules, feel free to tell & suggest. =) ] |
