Sorry for not getting here guys, Been having some
major connection issues lately. Havent even been
able to chat at all u.u; ...

Anyway, Im trying to find where the winning entry
is since from all this talk it seems we have the
Prolouge? Im not sure though, since I havent been
around in a few many days.

I like how the first page has gotten organized,
though I didn't realize I offered to be in the contest
for submitting the main story. I thought I just offered
to help with Arcs or anything else once we got a direction
going, My mistake! x.x ~~

Anyway, I'll post up my messenger and times Im available
in that link that was provided on the main page,
and since
my connection is up I'm ready most anytime to talk. Anyway,
I'll check back later today since Im sure there will be
some responses here ~

EDIT: Boy, I feel like an idiot. I thought that link
on the main page led to another forum -- not back here u.u;
So, I guess I should say Im available to talk anytime, and
I sue SKYPE, MSN, AOL (AIM ), And that would be it. I don't
have YIM or anyother messenging clients out there.

My suggestion, would be skype session for our conversations;
that way we could actually talk in person about what we want to
do, which may be easier then using an instant messenger.

Once we decide on something to use, I guess we can either post
our names or PM them? Im not sure how some people are with
letting others know their screen names/messenging names. :O

@ All: Okay, so this is basically my planned schedule: 1-5 PM (GMT)
Though things are set to start at 1 PM, discussions can last as long as there's people participating. Meetings will begin this weekend. So does this sound like an agreeable time?

Saturday: 1-5 PM (GMT)
Sunday: 1-5 PM (GMT)

Weekday scedules will be added if needed/requested.

Weekday Schedules: From 11 AM to 5 PM (GMT)

Also, Standard Service provider is to be MSN Messenger. So, uh, for privacy's sake, everyone who wants to participate can PM me their IM Info, which I'll just release as a batch to other participants. (An no one else, cuz I'm not one of those internet ads people!!! >.<). So, does that sound alright, minna?

I probably sound like a complete noobie, but does anyone know how the chatroom thing works (as in, only people you want to communicate with one another) on msn live? Even just pointing me to a good FAQ can help. ^^"

P.S.
We're in real need of at least a couple artists, which no one has come forward to volunteer for yet. If any of you can do so, or know somone capable, please, please inform them there's a certain project that could use and would truly appreciate talent in that field!!!

I Edited the front page a little bit. Staff, please give me a shout if I got some of your info on the staff listing wrong/missing!

@ Schwarz:

If you want to get a jump on having an idea what the storyline is, then please do attend the IM meetings also. (Lockey from the Music Department is also intending to attend at some point)

You can also give input or just see as things unfold. Alternatively, you can just wait on story updates I post up on the thread as things are decided and finalized on the story.

As stated, anyone's free to join, just need to give proper info.

@ Shuyin:

Mokona's supposed give out the winning entry by thurs-fri. I just wanted to get this started now so it doesn't look like I helped created all this hype about a visual novel project and decided to ditch when we actually had to start working.

Anyways, I have it set at MSN Live Messenger. Forgive me if I seem a little, unskilled with the IM thing at first. (I haven't IM'd before, aside from Gendou chat ^^')

I like the Skype idea, but, the only problem is that not everyone has a voice microphone thingy, (such as myself). But, it's an option if everyone else is up for it. (Would anyone like to vouch for skype?)

EDIT: READ THIS!

The date for saturday and sunday may be pushed back to next weekend if I dont get the proper contact information before those meeting/if we have som contact difficulties.

@ Ugo: I think Lockey is enough. he will PM me everything clearly (even more clear because we use different language^^). my Internet speed also cannot be predicted.....

Lol, I really wish this project the best of luck to get somewhere. All the projects I've been apart of (a manga and a dubbing) have all but died, so I'm hoping you guys can get somewhere with this.

I can't draw worth anything decent, nor do I want to delve into a already started story, but I do have some idea how I can help: music (kind of) and voice acting.

When it comes to music, I can come up with little "rhythms" that can be made into songs, but I only have them in the form of my voice. Lol, I'm not so musically intelligent to transcribe (or w/e the term may be) into sheet music or a Midi like file, but I can in the very least come up with a base rythem/song to start with. (If you want an example, eh...here. lol)

As for voice acting, I've always been looking to really find something that will let me try it again. I helped some random kid with a game movie like 3 years ago and I just loved during it. I attempted a dubbing project, but due to lack of interest and the fact I was out for some time left it practically dead. >_< I was able to get something of my own up during it's running and it can be seen here if you want some idea. I'm not so keen on louder sounds or screaming, but I tend to get a decent amount of emotion across with enough familiarity to the material (ie: So long as I know what is going on in an entire scene and know exactly "who my character is", the better I seem to do).

Hopefully you guys can get something going here where many have failed before you. xD

Sorry i haven't been online in gendou for days!
How are things going? >_< (I'm a bit lazy to read on a couple of pages, but I have read the posts in this page)

@ugo: just add my MSN ; zeta_ansuz@hotmail.com
I'll try to join the IM meetings

@Terror: try to PM Lockey (hearms), the head of music department^^

@ Chwarz: Okay, thank you. Well, it looks like the music department has a new member V

@ Terror: Great! Thank you so much for volunteering! *bows*

As schwarz said, Lockey is the de-facto head of the music department. He, Chwarz, and yourself make up the department as of now.

I like you're voice! Judging from the video I think you'd make a really useful addition! You have a great voice for calm/collected characters. (considering I'm predicting there will be a larger male cast)

Hah, I'm already feeling the pressure from lots of other projects that've failed before this. But I am confident in the people who've be so kind as to volunteer in helping out to see this to the end.

@ Darky: Well, we've gotten as far as announcing the first IM meeting. So here's the news related to that:

NEWS!

Saturday: 1-5 PM (GMT)

Current Members who have positively agreed upon meeting:

Ugo (willing to give contact info to participant)
Basil (has given IM info)
Mokona (has Ugo's IM info)
Shuyin (has given IM info)
Schwarz (has given IM info)

Right now we're all waiting on Mokona's judgment on the entries, there is a very high possibility I may need to push this meeting date back, since I wanted everyone to soak up the winning entry and plan their prepositions. Nonetheless, I still intend to do the saturday discussion.

Nonetheless, if even if you aren't planning to participate now (maybe later) it'd be good to give the you're IM info early so I wont goof up and forget to ask. You can just PM me it. Note, I'll also need to give that info out to the others who participate as a batch for our convenience.

Everyone! Please note that when these meetings start/after, development'll start off with a dash. Lets go!

Re: Gendou - Visual Novel Project
Link | by Terror on 2009-06-05 19:59:12
I've talked to Lockey and he says I should be able to help there, considering we have the same "talent", different mediums.

@Ugo: Well, you've hit the nail on the head when it comes to my "character". I don't like loud, crazy roles but rather the quiet, controlled ones since that plays into who I am. Hopefully a character with such a profile will come out of your story meeting. Speaking of which, could I possibly listen in on this meeting tomorrow if I can make it? I'm curious as to where this will be going story wise as the story is the most important part of the whole project imo. MSN was it? Check my profile email, it's my login.

Also, I want to comment on the "The inclusion of H-Scenes is also still being decided." note I read. Since Gendou is accessible to people 13+ yrs old and you obviously (I read this somewhere in the topic as well) have people under the age of 18 working on this (myself included for 3 months, lol), I suggest any ideas regarding this shouldn't be followed, or at least planned, here on this site. If the project ultimately wants the inclusion of such scenes, leave the planning of them and their distributions outside of Gendou so this site can remain 13+ friendly (or rather, help keep up the appearance of 13+ friendly, *coughchatcough*). Of course, you can do "clean" and "H+" versions of the novel, but again, keep the "H+" version out of Gendou.

Plus, if we ever get to that point, want to even consider acting that out. >_< lol

Is the meeting going on atm? I believe it's 4PM GMT atm xD""

I should leave my msn here so I can join the next one :3 -> icy_heat0.0@hotmail.com (remove the period 8D)
btw I would probably be an artist since I am more confident there than in coding ^^

@ Terror: Well, based off of what I read, there's already a character like that in the roster, just off of the contest. ^^

Haha... well, I agree on the non-h version. But it has been discussed before. It's as you say, any H-version will be discussed outside of Gendou. Members can opt to not take part in that portion of the project. At the moment, we're working only aiming for a regular all ages edition.

@ Darky: OMG! THANK YOU! *Hugs darky*

That makes it that we have at least one volunteer artist! I've looked at a couple of things you've done, and I'm happy to know you have skill in working on pictures on the computer. ^^'

I also wanted to do a bit of help in the art department- It's just that I dont know how to use such programs, and I still need to fix my scanner to work on my laptop. If I can at least get a scanner working, I'd like to at least assist in character design.

But... on the bright side, I opted for a semester class that teaches photoshop for my next school year (I just started summer). Hopefully it's for first semester. Secondly, I can probably scrounge off a cheap scanner from a garage sale.

edit: Also, what do you mean by 'amt'?

@ ALL: I'm sending a batch PM with contact info of all participating members to all participating members. Please go ahead and leave me a message or like (on LIVE or on PM) to confirm you got it.

At the moment, the list is only being sent to people who had dedicated to the meeting that was to happen today. Everyone elses'll be added and will recieve the master list the first time they attend.

EDIT: I made a small mistake on the master list for Darky's info! Dont forget when adding darky's info to delete the period between the 0's! (look at the post above)

AT THIS MOMENT, THE MEETING HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO NEXT WEEK

If we try to do the meetings right now, everything will be rushed. I'm giving this one more week so everyone can plan their ideas and read the winning entry when it is posted. Please also take this time to fully understand your proper respective GMT times.

The next meeting is set to be saturday, June 13. Same time (GMT) 1-5 PM

Once again, I'm really sorry for people who set time aside for this. But this isnt something I'm intending to rush to completion. I'm still (correct me if this false) assuming that the members who signed up for this one will still attend the rescheduled meeting, so the attendee list on the first page remains the same.

@Ugo:
amt? do you mean "atm"? sorry for the chatspeak xD It's "At the moment"
also the pm you sent had my msn wrong, the period between the two zeros should be removed >: *edi* oh didn't read the EDIT part there xD*

anyways, I checked and 1PM GMT is actually 9PM GMT+8, am I right?

Wows photoshop class owo Hope you learn lots of new stuff there! Good Luck ^^

Re: Gendou - Visual Novel Project
Link | by on 2009-06-07 01:27:47
@ Darky: Well, I accidently miscalculated my time the first time I did the sceduleing. Originally, I based the time on me being on at 8 PM (my time). But I misdid my GMT., which is -7 hours, not +7! >.<

Anyways, I also misassumed all the members where from either continental America or Asia, didnt expect Mokona to be from where she is. ^^'

So... because of this-

@ All: Might I request that people intending to join next week plrease give me their timezone + GMT difference (in + or - hours). I'd like to redo the time so that it's a bit more fairer to the others... and that's actually correct. -_-...

It'll still be aimed to be scheduled on Saturday, towards the end of the day.

If you dont know you're region's GMT thingy, you can always look it up at The GMT website. All you really need to know is the country you're from.

Mokona:

Sunday, 7 June
1:10:45 p.m.
(GMT + 1:00)

That's my time right now... GMT + 1.00 ^^ Sorry I caused so much trouble Ugo!

Re: Gendou - Visual Novel Project
Link | by Dark on 2009-06-07 05:30:06
lemme just check... this: (just an example)
8 PM GMT-7 [June 1]= 3 AM GMT [June 2] = 10 AM GMT+8 (my time) [June 2]

Is this correct?

Re: Gendou - Visual Novel Project
Link | by on 2009-06-07 06:16:16
@ Mokona: Right. Basically, if you want to know what time it is in terms of GMT, all you do is subtract one hour from your own clock. (since your time is ahead of GMT by 1 hour)

@ Darky: Wow.. so X = X = X?

Kinda confused, but I'l just say this... Greenwhich Mean Time is the time in Greenwhich England, which happens to be used as a standard time known thus (GMT). You can find out what time it is in greenwhich by knowing how many hours ahead or behind you're specific region of the world is. (which you can look up on their site)

So in short, of you had say: GMT +2, and in your area it's 3 PM. So: the time in Greenwich is 1 PM.

If you had GMT -5 and it was 8 AM where you are, it's 3 AM in greenwich.

Does this explanation work? ^^'

Re: Gendou - Visual Novel Project
Link | by Terror on 2009-06-07 21:54:03
Alright, I was thinking about the base story somewhat to try and get a handle on how this can go and I came up with a little hitch. Mind you, I haven't read the entire thread, so maybe this already came up, idk. If it has, well then I've wasted some time typing this up and oh well, maybe it'll be a reminder. If not, think about during the week before the story meeting. That being said, I'm not sure if I can make it to the next one now that I know it's 8AM my time. Lol, so I post it now:

Aya loves someone, she catches him with someone else, and she looses her memories because of the said "he".

Well then, the ultimate question would be is "Who did it?". (Romance/Mystery; yes!)

Did they all "happen to cause the accident", where as if the player follows the storyline for a certain character, they end up being the "he" in her diary? (1)

Or

Is one of them the real "he" which you have to find, where falling in love (I assume this is the whole premise of the game) with the wrong person just results in a false ending, prompting the player to play the game again? (2)

While Option 1 has the "I can pick who I like best and still come out with a good ending", it doesn't help much with replay-ability unless each character's respective stories are very well crafted. Plus, it doesn't give the story any real closure when "they all did it".

For Option 2, there's the "keep playing to find the real ending", but some players may be mad when the character they like most isn't the "real ending". The player may feel betrayed enough to not figure out who is the "real he" or possibly stop if they guessed right and not worry about the overall minor characters.

Now, I may not really understand VN's too well and how they work behind the scenes, but I get the feeling this is important.

Have you ever seen the Clue movie based off the board game? Simply put, stop reading if you really care about spoilers, it came with 3 endings: Scarlett did it, Peacock did it, and "they all did it" (you can read more at the link). In the "they all did it" ending, it was a major plot twist that made it the "real ending". I also read that the producers of Clue also had 4 other endings set up where the other 4 characters (Mustard, Plum, Green, and White) ultimately did it, where as you would sit through them all only to be treated to the "real ending" at the end.

So then, unless something has been decided already, I suggest this: follow Option 1 for X amount of characters and give them all their own stories and endings, and after the player has seen each character's ending and plays one more time, allow them to interact with a new character, the "real he", and give him the "real ending", possibly where that route is the only one which returns her memories. To keep the player guessing, have the normal character endings include a "something doesn't seem right" feeling or "I may not have my memories back, but I'm sure I can make plenty of new ones with so-and-so." line so they continue to play, seeking that "real ending".

(And if I can throw this in, possibly include "misunderstandings" for each of the normal characters which, with the absence of her memories, makes her believe that whomever she's interacting with is the real "he". Then, in the "real ending", have each of the misunderstandings explained, hopefully in some kind of humorous way.)

Hopefully, that doesn't really throw any kind of wrench in whatever is in planning, but again, this is important when it comes to the game play aspect of the VN, for why include X amount of characters if the player is only going to play one of them?
