@ Latino-san WHOA!!! That is one spiffy looking entertainment center...d@mn i'm envious of such a nice setup. That must have cost a fortune!!! You must be loaded!!! D@MN! In our house the setup is in the living room but i don't have any gaming systems hookedup to the close to 50inch HD TV cause it is only for TV viewing in our household. And my grandma has full authority over it to watch her chinese soaps XD. No all my stuff is in my room, i have the 35inch HD TV but no 'real' HD cause we only have the single box. So i'm stuck with standard which is okay enough. I should take a photo of my 'not so uber' gaming setup. Anyways only a week left until KillZone 2 hits the stores, i'll be anxiously awaiting to see some you guys there...though i may try to finish the campaign first to get a feel for the game. I don't play FPS that often so i know i'm gonna get schooled quite often, but i think of myself as a quick learner. The problem is i live on the west coast & work alot during the afternoons so my time online may be scarce. If you guys are interested send me a time of day that is appropriate so we can 'dance'. As of now my schedule is this... Mon - Free Tues - 1pm - 11pm (work) Weds - 1pm - 11pm (work) Thurs - 1pm - 11pm (work) Fri - varies Sat - 6am - 4pm (work) Sun - 6am - 4pm (work) If i'm lucky with my budget i may pick up the new Street Fighter 4 game as well, like i said i'm no master but as a casual gamer i think i can hold my own. Oh here is my gamer tag for anyone who is interested. ![]() ![]() |

@Izumo- You usually get off at the same time I do (and besides that I'm pretty much always awake until 3 at least. Even with the time zone difference I'd still be available. Curious, but when you mentioned not having real HD you meant for the TV right? The PS3 is hooked up for HD? I got paid today, so I need to check my account and see if I'll have enough to afford the rest of my Killzone 2 pre-order. If I don't then I'll need to do some trade ins or drop my X-Edge pre-order. I'm hoping I have enough for both though, since I really want to play X-Edge(Assuming it sticks to it's March 1st date). Kind of surprised you haven't shown any interest in it Izumo, looked to be right up your ally too. |

@Ray- It's the same deal as every other FPS these days. You play like a 10 hour story, then you just play it online for months until the next FPS comes out. If you don't plan to play online at least a little or want to know how the story goes on, then there isn't much point in getting it. I'm not a big fan of online games, unless I have guys I know and can rely on to play with me in a private match (I dislike random stranger matches, I can't chat to anyone like I can with friends because 90% of them have superiority complexes and communicate only in curse words and personal insults) but I liked the first game as well as the PSP one for the gritty soldier story aspect, and I want to see the story through. I probably won't be playing this online very much, unless some of you guys are willing to have a match with me like Izumo. I guess I'm old fashion, I simply enjoy the single player experience more than the online one, which is why my fav games this gen are MGS4 (not MGO, MGS4 itself), Disgaea 3 and Valkyria Chronicles. I'm in the same boat as you with the games though Ray. Next week, within 3 days of each other, I have Killzone 2 and X-Edge to pick up, it's going to cost me about $100 for both of them after the money I already put down on the pre-order is taken out. Besides that, Persona 4 is still on my wish list, Ys: Book I & II for DS, Resistance Retribution and most recently I've taken interest in the upcoming Pokemon Platinum. There's also God of War III, Uncharted 2 and Bayonetta(maybe), but hopefully (for me anyway) those games will take a long while to come out and give my wallet a chance to recover. |

Yeah, that sums up the pattern of FPSs pretty well Jonathon. That's part of the reason why I wanted to branch out so much and bought a PS3 for Valkyria Chronicles...nearly every decent game on the 360 is just an FPS or TPS...

@ Jon-san What i meant by 'real' HD is that i'm only using the regular cables that came with the PS3 system, i don't have any HD cables as of yet so everything i'm playing is basically in standard definition. The TV in our main living room has the works on it with all the HD setup & cables & PVR. Unfortunately i can't use any of it for my gaming system. And about X-Edge, just like MGS4 i'll eventually get it but like everyone else there are so many games to play & not enough time to play them all. I still haven't completed the trophies for LBP & Resistance 2, i have to complete AR Tone 2, Star Ocean 2nd Dep., Disgaea 3 keeps adding new content. I pre-ordered Killzone 2, hope to get Street Fighter 4 in the near future, and also i'm planning to pick up Prinny Hero as well. My menu is set for awhile now. I play alot of RPGs which normally take up ALOT of time to complete and i tend to be a completionist as well which adds to gametime. Shorter games like FPS or platformers i don't play often which explains my low trophy count :P. ![]() |

@Izumo-san - Oh, I see. I got my HDMI cable from a pre-owned EBGames bin, cost me like $14. I know what you mean about RPG's taking up a lot of time. Currently I have: -Disgaea 3(Same as you, new content to go after, although right now I'm hoping the Rasberyll Expansion hits us) -I've been playing VC again recently (Doing the Hard skirmishes to prepare myself for EX Mode, Edy's story and the Imperial add on pack as well as get all the Decorations) -I have Stuntman Ignition (I haven't touched this in forever) -Star Ocean First Departure I've only got about 1/3rd of the way through (My sister got a PSP recently, so she borrowed it and has been playing that, it's kind of drifted from me since I'd have to search for her PSP to play it although I am still very interested in it) -Killzone 2 will be next week -X-Edge will come about 2 days after Killzone 2 (If everything sticks to schedule. X-Edge is another RPG, so I'll be locked to that until the end, or until the VC content comes in which case I'll take a break) I saw Prinny today (the box special with art, CD, insert cover and whatnot) and I do want to pick that up, but it's like $50, and I've also had my eye on the upcoming Pokemon Platinum so I think it will be a toss-up between those two for me. If box set Prinny is still there when P Platinum is out, then I think Prinny will get the nod, but if the box Prinny is not there and it's just the regular copy, I'll probably go to P Platinum first. Plus there's Resistance PSP which is out March I believe. And I ALSO have to get my import copy of FF: Advent Children Blu-Ray as soon as I get paid next. (I probably won't have enough to get any other games after X-Edge, because FF:AC Blu-Ray is like 70 dollars once shipping and such is thrown in. |

@Ray- Already went over your purchases in the chat. XD I can't wait, I'll be picking up my copy of Killzone 2 tomorrow, although I can't actually play until I get off work. Bad news is X-Edge was pushed back until March 20th, so I've got to wait like another three weeks for that. |

Ok got my copy of Killzone 2 yesterday & i played it for hours finishing the normal mode in about 9 hours....i died 78 times though (20+ times by suicide)XD! My thoughts on the game. First of all it looks absolutely insane!! The videos you see don't do the graphics justice. You have to see it first hand to really see how detailed they are. One word to describe it is 'realistic'...from the flicker of fires in the wind, to the smoke blown to the point you can't see in front of you...everything. You have to see it to truly appreciate it. The gameplay isn't that much different from your normal FPS, there is nothing new that you haven't already seen before. What Killzone 2 does though is enhances the overall enjoyment. It takes what you already know & multiplies it by 10! The recoil of some of the weapons do take some getting use to, also some guns have very long reload times (talking to you shotgun!)...the movement of Sev is slower than usual but again not that problematic. Speaking of guns, they are fantastic. You only carry 2 guns at a time, one always being your revolver (infinte bullets). The default gun the M82 is probably the best normal gun in any FPS. The shotgun can blow head clean off but again the reload time is annoying at time. The Boltgun is really fun to use & the mother of all guns the Electricity gun!! This baby has infinite charge & is super overpowered. You only use it for one level but it lays a beatdown on it. There are a few machine/driving levels..from a tank, to a mech (awesome!!), to defending your ship with AA guns. Too bad there wasn't more of these levels. I haven't played the multiplayer yet cause i wanted to finish the campaign first. Now that i have done so i will try it later today after work. First time through the game got 30% of the trophies. I missed one trophy...killing the last boss in under 20 mins (yes it'll take that long) by 8 freakin seconds!!!! Ok...the only fault & it isn't that big a deal. First there is no co-op mode. Playing with a buddy in the game would be really fun. In the game you always have a AI buddy with you so it is sorta like having co-op. Second the story really doesn't make much sense & the tough-guy talk is pretty lame. The ending is also pretty confusing too. Overall the game is a must-buy for any PS3 user. I don't play alot of FPS cause very few i actually enjoy. This i thouroughly enjoyed. It was challenging cause the bad guys are smart muther f***ers!! Great game!!! 10/10 for me!!! ![]() |

NOTE: For anyone who has Killzone 2, I'm going to make a Gendou clan for private matches between the members. Let me know. @Redflare- This has turned into more of a place to talk about games in general, so you are welcome to join in. I just finished Killzone 2 today, didn't get to play it much last night because of work. I'm going to take a crack at online now in a few minutes and see if I am any good at it. Going on what Izumo-san is talking about, I agree with pretty much everything he said. The script is pretty poorly written on the part of the main characters, although Visari and Redac I found to be well voiced and written. There were two surprises I found through the game, although I can't talk about it since they are spoilers. I find the guns to be weighty, and I like that. It makes you feel like the character actually has weight to him and the weapons aren't really easy to control for the most part because of weight and recoil. I thought the ending was alright, it's obvious that a Killzone 3 is going to happen judging by the ending, and I don't mind that too much. I kind of enjoyed the story overall though. @Izumo-san- I'm hoping you get back from work relatively early, I'd love it if me and you could have an online match with a couple of AI bots filling in the extra positions. Let me know if you read this first, otherwise I'll send a message on over through PSN. The one thing I am really loving about the online so far, is the fact that a private match can be set up and if you only have two or three friends in the match, you can fill the rest with AI bots so that the game has plenty of life to it. I really enjoy that since I like to play mostly with people I know but the problem is that it's a lifeless match because there are only a few people. PS. I killed the last boss in under 20 minutes. I died like 12 times, but I got the trophy. *thumbs up* |
