[edit:

This is going around my mind for abit bnow but, what's the prospective name of this VN?

xD]
*damn my long post didn't send through...I'll post it when I feel like it*

Great job so far ^^ I loved the first post!
I didn't read the teaser, will get to that later

anyways for art of sprites,
I'm planning to make place holders for now?
BG Placeholders would simply be blank screens with just a label in the middle (It's better if the writers provided this?)
and for character placeholders it'll be like this;

here it's Sincere from ArTonelico 2 with a label of "ehehedere" or "Shy"
This can help coders to test sprite placement early on, right?

I just wanna ask, what format does ren'py likely to use?
.BMP? or .PNG is fine?

@Darky- I am not sure but if i recall properly it supports PNG or BMP but JPG if possible..

Hmmm..... that reminds me of a 3 minute Visual Novel.... well I am not sure how but if it is easy well its fine

sorry I cant think much since I dont know much about some technical stuff

@ Wow... Apologies for disappearing again!

Anyways, as of right now, I'm getting ready for my last week of school. I've been running around getting my last school related things done. Still, with that said, with summer coming up, I'll be able to dedicate more time to getting things done here!

@ Jon: Okay. I'll get to Link, Terror and Faiz as soon as I can.

@ Darky: On the name... Hah! I've been holding back on that subject for a bit now. I guess a good working name for work in progress could be "Project Aya". Sadly, I cant think a name off the top of my head that would be too fitting or non-cliche.

Erm... would placeholders be the same as the character codes such as Ty, or Ay for Tyson and Aya respectively? I'd personally be fine with just their names but (what does Mokona and KM think?)

I would like to let everyone know I'm back, and I won't have any net issues or
anything. I have my own highspeed now, so it's not an issue!

Hoping to get to helping As soon as I'm needed! :]

Ugopetamia "Well, we certainly de need BGs for the hospital. At least one for a room and a hallway or lobby. Those would be a good start."

Hospital... Inside a hospital room?
Room.... Aya's room?
Hallway or lobby... err what kind.. like a dorm? or school hallway?

----

Bad news: My tablet's pen broke. I may be able to replace it but I'm not sure... orz
But I can still draw with pencil, then just ink with photoshop with pen tool orz
...maybe that's an improvement xD

Anyways, I may need a base colorist more than ever right now...
since having no tablet would take more time alone. orz
----

@Ugo:
I'm not sure.. I don't know how they code it into the script so I'm not really sure.

in theory, for example, I made a sprite wip similar to the image I posted earlier.
It'll be added into the game with each different sprite already tested.
(so we'll have a game with a static sprite with only the label changing, but this is sufficient to determine placement.)
then when the appropriate sprite art is finished, we can just overwrite the WIP sprite art with the finalized,
without having to touch the script. Making the coding run smoothly without waiting for finalized arts.

Darky: If what you're asking is what rooms and places you need to sketch, then we (me and Ugo and KMR) can give you a list on the settings we use?
But I think that yes, Ugo means the hospital room and hospital corridor, ermm, also school corridor and Aya's room are places I have used...

If it's not what i think it is- then just please ignore me ==' i'm frazzled up because of my big exams and the fact that i fry like butter in the sun :(

Erm, anyways if placeholders are there just for visual errm reference and you'll be adding finalized sprites and drawings later, that's fine i guess- i dunno how that fits in with everything, but i'll wait for coders to reply- because i'm hitting a wall with my writing

xDD Having said that, I hope we all stay positive and enjoy the summer!!! ^^

[EDIT}: LOOL with this siggy you can mix and match which is awesome ha ha lool plus there is something.. not quite right, anyone spot it? x)

@All- since I studied at a nursing school [although I am taking Psychology] I can provide the school corridor, classroom, hospital lounge, and hospital corridor

And in any case I can provide some school setting pictures once I returned home

it was a piece of cake to infiltrate those places... and if you liked i can took a picture with day and night setting

Sorry guys that If i cant write properly in my plot I am having a hard time since its summer time and... my plot is full of twists and turns...

By the way... the revisions about Reikou is not done yet since I need to evaluate more

I am going back to Manila so the chance of taking snapshots of mall, bus, cars, highways, streets, house models, and people

But I am an amateur photographer so please bear with me

Well, so ends high school for me... anyways, I can now devote a good amount of time to working here so-

@ Shuy: Nice to seeya again! It looks like there's still content from the anniversiry post to update the website.

@ Darky:

Everything I mentioned in that message is in the hospital. A hospital's patient's room, a hospital lobby or hallway. I gave Mokona-chan a list of settings that we'll probably need, would you like the full list?

It took a second read through to get how the placers for the sprites worked, I think I get it now. I'll call in the coding people.

@ Mokona: Hi!

@ KM: Always such a curious choice in vocabulary... anyways, can you at least give what you have for your characters (to mokona or me), we're starting to have to guess on some things for your characters in the main storyline and we really dont want to do that.

@ All: Anyways, expect some PM's to fly around in the next couple of days.

Oh hai there.

I think Darky has the right idea with the temp images for testing placement. When we get the final art ready, we just have to replace the filenames and it should work dandy. Ren'Py uses .PNG for just about everything, so that would be what you want to save them as.

In my opinion, background placeholders should be more than just text. It could just be a rough, 2 minute line sketch of where things are going to be. This would make it much easier to see where the characters will be standing in the final product.

That's my two cents on that topic. Yes, I am still alive, and still able to help with the project. I'll go read through the old posts now...

Hi!, im from the music dept. most of you might not know me, anyways

I was planning on a meeting for the members of the Music Dept. so we could decide what kind of soundtrack we should create.

PM me your IM addresses so I can add you, then set a date and time for the meeting depending on your availability.

Im still not sure what Schaz has in mind with the actual meeting, this is just like a chit chat for us music dept. members

That's all I need to say. keep being productive!

@Ugo - Alright, I have the stuff on the first post copied. If you have the image links it would be great if you could send them over so I don't have to upload everything/track the right ones down.

Sorry I haven't been doing much. I was in a tournament and I really didn't expect to make it so far in, so I've been non-stop with that for the past week or two. It's over now though, so I should be able to get back to my regular schedule. =_=

Darky and Link: Would we have to make any inputs for the background place holders? I think you mentioned a couple of lines or something... Just give us a list of what to do and i'll try my best!

Ishuda: Yep, thanks for doing that Ishuda- I'm working on things with the writing department too- it's good to see you trying to make an effort! ^^

Jonathon: Lol, I'll check the website now- it sounds like you're doing a lot of work too! Ok, do your best! ^^

Ugo and KMR: Erm, you're both aware already.. but i'm gonna be online most of this week- when should we have the next IM meeting?

Everyone: Anyone interested in having an IM meeting? Is there anything anyone wants ot bring up right now? But if you do, please PM any of the dept. heads or Ugo i think..

Notice: I've asked KMR to take down his latest post because we don't wanna leak the story, sorry it's taken so long! >< Hopefully no harm has been done and it's just been kept within our members- sorry again!

Xx

@Makona - Nothing has changed at the moment. I'm still waiting to hear back on the image codes. If Ugo doesn't respond soon then I may just go ahead and save/upload the images myself.

Ohh yeah she's been busy lately, shall I email her for you? It's quicker.. I think...

But that would take the best part of a day anyways.. sorry!

I'll give it a shot though.

Oh, forgot to mention: I've got the main part of my arc down- just have to write some diary entries and other tid-bits, so not sitting around doing nothing! ><

~ Except watching the World Cup :L

@ Jon: I sent you a reply with the full links and codes. Tell me if you need anything else.

@ Mokona: Well, I'd like to say tomorrow, but that's too soon. >.<

Next week is something I can most certainly dedicate to. SO yup. Would, say, Wednesday be good? At our usual meeting time?

EDIT:

@ Link: I got a question! If you're aware of the diary portion of the game, is it possible to the text arranged like a diary page (rather than the normal dialogue box) with pictures placed around like sprites?

EDIT: Good question Ugo, sorry got to run Xx won't reply until tomorrow! ><

You can do just about anything using Transforms. Sounds to me like an adaptation of Novel mode. It is certainly do-able.
