I think Chat and Website could use a few more categories, especially Chat. I think the Forum categories are good for the time being, so we should try and focus on the other two sections. I'm hoping to have the final list by the end of this week. Nominations will start right after that.    |

what about giving some attention to those who contribute in other fields? Let's say, lyrics submission? songs submission? etc etc. There's been additional chat moderators this year but I dunno if forum moderators have added some. Best avatar? Best signature? Best profile? |

Hmm, for website so far, favorite new member and oldie, as well as best gfx designer. Maybe favorite gendou.com member anime/any song cover, whatever you wanna call it? Just throwing out more ideas, though it's hard with the huge rate of inactiveness year-round. And the website section of the awards is usually the bigger awards from what I remembered last time. More ideas, what about thread of the year or something? It could be considered a forum category, or a website category. Depends on Jon's opinion. I'll try to think of more ideas as we go along here.

I just thought of this now, since it's Gendou.com's 10th Anniversary, what about special Gendou.com of the decade awards or something? (e.g. Gendou.com Member of the Decade) Not sure if Gendou himself will do something special yet, I haven't known anything as of yet, but that'd be pretty neat. I've gotten back into making gfx agian, sorry I couldn't make anything in the past awards (probably busy with school at the time). Since I'm not that busy (at least school wise), I might be able to make something this time. With more experience with programs now, I might make special stuff, depends, lol, more work, more hustle for me.

@Zen - The thing is, I don't think that many people know the members who do a lot of submitting in terms of Lyrics or Songs. I tried to hand out awards last year for people who had over X number of posts, X number of Lyric submissions and X number of song submissions, but it took quite a long time to track down who had managed to pass the mark I set (and I'm positive that I did not get everyone who achieved it). Besides that, no other members came to me afterward to request an award themselves once they did pass that mark. It is a nice idea, but I would have to have a way to sort users based on submissions, and I don't think there is a way to do that for regular users like me. @DA and Pame - That does sound like a great idea, but I thought that the Gendou Idol Competition handled that award. Not only that, but (unlike this award show) Gendou Idol is actually endorsed by Gendou himself. That kind of award would be much more 'official' coming from the GIC Committee as opposed to the Gendou Awards Night. Of course, I have no problem with putting it in the GAN. It just seems as though that kind of award is pretty much covered already. |

Yeah you're right, but it's kind of like in real life where you have numerous music awards. Plus people submit their entries to Gendou Idol, for Gendou Awards Nights, people who maybe are a bit shy to submit to Gendou Idol could still submit. There could be a rule like if you already won Gendou Idol, you can't enter Gendou Awards Night or vice versa. It's just an idea, we can work on more details if more people would consider it. Also rules for it would have to be made like (would the user want their song nominated, and such...). Do you have an idea on when you'll going to finalize this awards' categories? Would you want to have new gfx for this awards? I'll try to see what I can come up with. Depending on how much time I have to work with that is, I'll be interested in making something new.

@DA - I said I would try to finalize them by the end of this week. It doesn't appear as though there will be much debate about the categories, so I will probably just make a final call soon and set the list. After that is done then I will proceed to take nominations for each of the awards. I plan to handle voting the same way I did it last year, by putting up 4 or 5 embedded polls at a time and letting them run for a few days. Edit: I'm starting to see more nominations come in for the current polls, although it's still not nearly enough. I know the forum has been slow for pretty much the entire month, but I'm really hoping things pick up a bit in the next week or two, otherwise I think I may have to cancel this whole thing due to lack of interest. |

@ Jon- I did my nominations the other day, and I don't think the polls take multiple nominations. For example, I tried nominating both DA and Shin as Forum Mod of the Year, but I think it only accepted one of them (Since when I tried to nominate the other, I got a message that said 'Thanks, but we already counted your vote' or something like that). I'm sure that they would have both been nominated by others anyway for that category, but for other categories this might be a problem if people had multiple nominations. Instead of choosing between the two nominations, could we PM you if we have multiple nominations for one category? (This also might help solve the lack of nominations, since I think some people who nominated last year had multiple nominations.) Also, I think it would be terrible if you had to cancel the awards for this year. Personally I like them and find them interesting. I hope things start to get more active soon.  |

@Toyumi - I limited it to one nomination per person just so that one person doesn't flood the nominations to make sure one person gets in. Unfortunately, from the looks of the poll statistics, I will have to cancel this whole thing. So far there is only 1 category in the first group with enough nominees. There's only like 7 nominations for the RP's poll, and 3 for all of the others, but there is at least one vote per poll for the "Enter Nominee Below" option. I had to include at least two answers to create the poll, and it seems someone has chosen that option as their answer. There also has not been another nomination since Jan 6th. |

I have to officially cancel this years show everyone. There is simply not enough interest in it to continue. After 3 weeks of nominations for just the forum section of the show, only 2 categories managed to get 4 nominees. I'm assuming that there are some people who voted in all categories, so I would say that there was probably a grand total of five different people who bothered to nominate over the course of 21 days. Most of these occurred within the first week. I'm not sure if I will continue doing this or not, judging by how badly this show did. I may try again next year to see if I get a better response. |

Maybe next year. Seems the forums are perking up a little bit. Seems gendou idol brought some people along this year. Hopefully they will stick around

I'm probably one of those five people, I was hoping the categories for chat would open since I'm more of a chatter. Maybe you want to do a 2010-2011 awards next year once the forums gets more active?  |

[@Ray] Possibly, however the forum usually has people that are active in the forums (like me, Jon, etc.) A few chat mods maybe like you, I don't even see Shin or miko around in the forums anymore. :( Regardless of my huge droppage of viewing anime, I still notice everything about the forums, even members who were active/not active. Most of the people who participated in Gendou Idol, clearly joined for Gendou Idol alone. I've seen bunch of their profiles and it's really plain (which means music is what they're only into, not the forums nor chat). It's a few sparks like me and you that keep the forums lit. [@aoi] lol, most likely it was the people who even posted in this thread recently. The forum comes and goes... *sigh* I miss the few months ago days, not even the Golden Age days.
