It doesn't even necessarily even have to use that type of information. I mean a new member that's become a part of the forums and whatnot and has been active to some degree. Now that there's confusion, I'm not even going to use "newbie" anymore, but something like 'new member'. There are members that have been here even longer than me, yet haven't ever been to the forums. Then they start posting, trying to get involved with the forums, making some friends with regulars, that'd be a nice nomination. It really depends on what Jon decides, I mean I only listed categories to start, but that'd be a nice new award to choose.

@Jon I was just browsing through since I haven't seen this thread in...2 years? I was surprised when I saw that award XD. So we're having a new award night eh...I haven't seen one in ages... |

@DA - Not sure about the Graphic Designer thing, I don't really think there is an active group of artists around here anymore, is there? @Haseo - There won't be a vote on which categories to include. I have tomorrow off, so I'm going to use that time to put together a basic list of categories and possibly hunt around for a website to use for the polling. @Kay - It has been a while, I was pretty inactive for a good portion of the year, plus the last awards night didn't have that big of a turnout.    |

@jon what about those people in Avy x Sig? i think that thread is quite...active, but of course, not as active as back then... mostly people use either chat or pm for requesting avy and sig anyways... @dangel oh i see...pretty much makes sense that way. XD |

So, what's the time table looking like? I saw DA threw up some categories, and set them up in a pretty good way. Having Member of the year and stuff as the 'main event' is a must. @ Haseo - DA — I shall be the one to stand ontop of that mountain at the end. Here's a tentative list of the categories. I'm trying to limit them for the time being until I get a voting system worked out. I tried to use the word 'Favorite' more than 'Best' for some reason, seems like a better term to use. Member of the Year of the year awards are separated into Chat and Forum, I don't think an overall member of the year is really needed because people would probably expect either the Forum or Chat MOTY to be the overall MOTY. If you have any suggestions or questions just post them up. I'm now gone to hunt down a voting solution. Also, I think I'm going to use this night to hand out a few honorary awards that were never handed out (either because the Awards Night wasn't going on or the award wouldn't require voting). The honorary awards will be handed out whenever somebody accomplishes it, an example being the 10k Club, I'd like to have something done up for DA, Kay and myself and then give out the award whenever somebody reaches it (because there are 3 or 4 people I know of that are getting there). Any comments on this idea are welcome as well, such as what accomplishments could be honorary award worthy. Sounds like some nice cataegories we got goin on. There's one I don't understand though: that being the "Favorite Anime/Manga on Gendou.com" one. I just don't really understand what it gets at. Does it mean theanime you can download, or the anime/manga being discussed in the forum?

@Haseo - Any Anime or Manga, doesn't matter if it's available for download or not. The last two times we had the awards night I believe Naruto and Haruhi won respectively. @Ray - Good to hear. |

So are these the final awards lay-out, or just what you personally want to use? OH, and about the Graphic Design thing, not sure, but honestly I don't see an activeness with the regular members I'd nominate anyways. I can't even nominate myself since I haven't used Photoshop or made new stuff in a long time. Maybe the next Awards we can make it come back, not sure about this time though.

That is the basic lay-out of the categories. I used your list as a reference mainly (since yours seemed to be a compilation of the suggestions and such). Can I get a few people to try this out? This site doesn't look too bad for the polling system. It limits votes to 1 per IP address (It also allows for IP logging, but that's a bit much), keeps the results private so users can't see them even after voting and other such options. The only downside to doing things this way is it's not tied to people's member accounts, but I really really don't want to flood the Gendou Polls with these topics, so this is the only option. This is just something to test it. The actual polls will hopefully be smaller and not as ugly. |

The polling looks alright, however I've discovered a problem with it. The created poll is automatically put up on the hosts search database, which means that people searching through the host sites poll database may stumble across it and vote on it. Honestly, it's unlikely to happen with the Gendou polls for a few reasons (People on polldaddy would have no idea who the members of Gendou.com are or what the poll is even asking), but there are people that vote on things just for the heck of it, regardless or whether or not it relates to them. In any case, I've sent an email to the sites support center to see if there's any way to block my polls from appearing in their search results, but I am assuming the answer will be 'No'. Regardless, I may still just stick to using that polling method since it seems to be the best suited. As I said, I don't expect anyone searching through polldaddy's database to have any idea what the Gendou.com Awards Night polls are even for. Anyway, I think I'll open nominations for the time being. I don't think the categories will be changed, and additions to the categories can be made at any time. |

I personally like to stay private, and I think I PMed you my nominations last time, too. Hope nobody takes offense. And yeah, I guess we can nominate from 1-4 (4=max) nominees per category, as well as skip categories. And yeah, because of no internet, I didn't have a chance to check out the poll, but reading everyone's thoughts and comments about it, I think we're good. I'll send you a PM later and whatnot then, after a reply. Thanks. Oh, and about the 10K club thing, I thought about making one a while back. I ordered the Adobe Creative Suite thing yesterday, so I should have Photoshop again soon, but since I'm using it on my Macbook, I'll have to dL new fonts, brushes, textures, etc. and whatnot. But a bit later in the year, I'll make one so I'll keep it as a project. I already have my profile to work on, as well as other projects as well.

@DA - Well I'll be giving out the awards on the one night, but whenever you do get that suite set up, then it would be great if you could redo or touch up the awards. Honestly, the ones I put together suck hard. @Kira and everyone else - I put down on the first post that you don't have to fill in every category. If you can't think of any nominee's or just don't want to for certain categories then you can just skip them. Also, does anyone have any suggestions for honorary awards? I thought about it for a while and originally when I brought the topic up I had more ideas in mind than just the 10k Club. Any suggestions for achievements on Gendou.com that could be considered honorary awards material are more than welcome. Just try not to suggest ideas like 'Users that reach level 100', those kind of achievements just have too many users to hand out awards to. |
