I think UGO is right, we need to come up with the name first
I could be able to help in the logo design, but we cant design any logo yet because we still dont have a name
Here's what I have in mind,
GV-Pro "Gendou Visual Production", GenVisuals, LitCreative, Phase-One, Funisual(so unoriginal xD) lemme know what you think

When I said mascot, I was thinking something Mokona/Kirby ish, though a person would work. xD

>_> If I could say something about names, maybe avoid those sounding close to real companies? <_< As for names...I randomly throw out the word I use to name my guilds in games... Hitsuzen! xD (Screw PMs since this thread is already full of names, xD)

I think 'phase one' is a great name too!

Ohh-ohh! Maybe a dark out outline of our flagship heroine in profile for a logo!

Well anyways, considering the situation I believe this calls for an IM meeting. So! IM Meeting on the 18th. 3 PM GMT, for stuff related to group names, logos and whatnot.

Is that alright with everyone?

@ Niwa: Thanks for the suggestions.

I'll do my best to make it. >_>

Well, if I'm sole coder atm, all the more reason to make that guide. >_<

@Terror

Worry not. I'm back in the game.

I managed to fix my problems regarding the Ren'Py engine, and I've spent a week trying tonfigure out how to unlock other paths once the game is finished. I tried using variables in the way that when you finished the game, the variable will be assigned a value, which would be read at the start of the second playthrough and would unlock certain paths not available in the first playthrough. However, I immediately realized that since the variables were to be always initialized in the beginning of the program as having a value of 'false', it would make the second playthrough run as if it was the first playthrough.

I've done some research and found a way to solve it, but given my current understanding of the Ren'Py language, it is beyond my comprehension. I'll have to do a lot of studying for it.

Here's a solution (cause that was what I was trying to do and make "clear flags"):

At the end of the game/story, show a screen asking the player to save as this is the end of the game (click to continue). The player would then save and when they click, the script would jump back to the every beginning (never going to the title screen) and start all over. This way, you can keep your flags and the player would have a place to "start" later.

I made a script focused on that idea, but I'm not a good "code fixer". xD

@Ugo- What do you mean by group names?

I will try to make it for a little bit as well.

As far as a name for the 'company' or whatever you call this rag-tag group of members, I don't really have any ideas. For the name of this particular project, I was more partial to GenVisuals or LitCreative. My only real suggestion for a name would be something like 'Project Split Mind' or 'Project Distant Memories' (I'm not really the best with names. I have my moments, but I guess this isn't one of them. ^^;).

The silhouette idea sounds good as a logo though, silhouette's make for pretty good logo designs. Possibly a silhouette on each side, facing each other with their hands outstretched, kind of like a symbol of the main character trying to pull herself back together after having lost her memories (kind of like her other half).

I'm going to look through hosting sites tomorrow night. I'm working pretty much every darn day so tomorrow night will be the only chance I get. The general site layout and sections I plan to get added are as follows:

-Character Profile Section: This will be one of the first things up on the site, but will change as things progress, such as new information, character pictures and whatever.

-Story: I'll need to get in contact with the Department Head of the writing section for this, but this will just be a page dedicated to detailing the main story and what the game will entail regarding the story.

-Music: This won't go up for probably a long time. All depends on when music starts getting produced or used.

-Staff: This will also go up right away. I'll need to talk to Ugo about getting a full cast list of all the people currently taking part and which departments they belong to.

-Artwork: I'm putting this here for now, but it will be up to Ugo if it stays. Basically it's just a page set aside for any artwork that gets done, whether it be concept or finalized. I don't know if everyone else wants this left out in order to be bonus material or not, so it's up to everyone.

-Progress Log: Detailing what has been done so far and where we are with the project. Think of it as an organized way of telling what has been done recently.

That's all I have in mind right now. I have yet to talk this over with Sayu, but the host is more important at the moment, this will come afterward.

Yo Everyone! Saturday, that very rapidly planned meeting decided on some candidates for Group/Company names kindly suggested by anonymous attending staff memebers. So far, we have three, but everyone can start voting on them now.

*grabs loudspeaker* And the names are:

Kazegan
Lit Trans: (Beginning Wind)
Language: Japanese

Angin Malam
Lit Trans: (Dark Wind)
Language: Indonesian

Hitsuzen
Lit Trans: (Inevitable/Fate)
Language: Japanese

LitCreative
Lit Trans: N/A
Language: English

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And those would be the current prospects. If you really have a name you want to put up for people to vote on, PM me it first, to avoid having too much of a flood of choices, please only request 1 to be put up.
You can just post up your vote or PM me your vote if ya want to be anonymous. Votes will be counted in the beginning of next week.
@ Basil and Terror: I'm not a master at coding or anything, so forgive me if I totally butcher the language. But, what if you guys can make a type of code where when an ending is achieved, it changes a variable attached to something like the player settings.
It would be like:
Completed Arc 1 - False
Completed Arc 1 - False
Depending on which arc they complete, the variable becomes true. Once all arc completion variables become true, it changes the menu screen's options, so that when "new game" is pressed, you have the option of either going into normal story or going to the unlocked after story portion
This might need to call for some type of code that keeps track of what the player has finished and accomplished, or a second set of variables that are independent from the core game.
@ Jonathan: That plan cover everything I could've thought of, please inform me when you and Sayu get plans down and are prepared for actual site construction. You can either request me or PM the other department heads as to all that may be needed on the site.
@ Schwarz: There may have been the website or format. I heard a bit of the recording at the start, but it when out after that.
@Ugo- So Shuyin hasn't gotten back to you yet? We still don't have a department head for the Website group and once I've talked things over with Sayu we will be ready to get started (assuming Sayu has no objections or suggestions).
I'm currently looking over site hosts since I have the night off work.
@Ugo: Setting up flags like that outside of the Ren'pyn script is out of my understanding. If I could just fix the flaws in my code, I have a way to do this but it doesn't allow for the "unlocking extras" bit you want.
Simply put, in the code there's the variable command (w/e it was again, lol), a "name" command, and a "jump" command.
Say the player reaches the end of the game (the final piece of script). You can change the "Lax Complete" flag to True so in the engine it would know that the player had completed Lax's story. Then, if we place a "name" back at the very start of the novel, we could use "jump" to go to that name. This way, the engine is still running with the true value rather than returning to the title screen (which would kill the flag as far as we've figured out). New story paths and options could then be unlocked when the game finds the Lax flag to be true.
Basically, the novel would never "end" but rather keep on repeating itself. Of course, that still doesn't allow the player to use a "picture/event browser", so this isn't the most ideal solution, but it's the best I've figured out so far.
(Shoot...guide...)
@ Jonathan: When I asked Sayu about being head. Sayu-san's reply back didnt say anything further on the matter, so I assumed she is fine with you being head. Also, I have already declared you as head of website.
As for Shuyin, he has yet to reply back to anything I have sent hime. So, you may have to work on the assumption Shuyin may not come back.
@ Terror: Well yep. I cant do much more than wish you luck on that. I'm giving you all the time before the intro arc is finished to figure out how to get that resolved. There are certainly places to look up code, would maybe even other developers using the renpy engine would be so kind as to teach us some of the more complex coding?
Alright, well I'm sure me and Sayu can handle it. If Shuyin does eventually appear again then it would still be a welcome addition.
I have it narrowed down to two sites, so I'm going to see which one Sayu would be more comfortable with. Then I guess Tuesday or Wednesday night will be work time for us.
Also, are you taking votes on those names now?
I want to apologize to everyone; As my internet has been
down for weeks. AT&T had been working on all the underground
cables, and it seems everything is working now -- I can
only hope it stays like this.
But for now, I am back with Internet at full strength -- So
if it's possible, could someone either PM me or post here
anything I need to know? It'd be awhile for me to comb
through all the pages here and read up on everything *~* ...
But anything you guys need, I'll do what I can.
@Ugo and Basil: Ohshi... that was easier than I figured... <_<
Ugo, "multi game flags" are possible.
Basil, check out the "demo" script, advanced features, the 5th option I think.
I'm also trying to type up that guide. I should have it here in about an hour (no, it's not that complicated; I was handed some other work to do... >_<)
@Ugo: You might wanna start off with a developers blog and attempt to gain interest from people thru there. That is if you planning to get people other than gendou to look at it too.
"Currently, I'm assuming we aren't going to make a full voice edition unless lots of people come forward to volunteer making it."
What i suggest is searching around for people. Because there maybe people who want to do the voice acting but are just timid to do it. You could advertise with like a picture or poster and post it around the internet somewhere. Also pssstt. If you wanna get pame-chan offer up some cookies to the table xD. Thats what usually gets people lol.
"Language: (Skill in the areas of proofreading and grammatical correction in the English language)"
:D Engrishhhh. (Put another Language too. if thats possible)
If you still need help with coding and the proofreading feel free to pm me for help. and ill do what i can :D.
@Doom: To advertise the VA, I could make a signature like I did for my failed Akria project and ask that you guys have them in your sigs for awhile.
Or even better (in terms a effectiveness), I'm sure if 100+ people would be willing to give singing a shot at GIdol, I'm sure more than enough of them would be willing to give VA a shot (plus, singing and VA tend to go hand in hand I find). I'll see if I can ask Pame to try and give us a plug every now and then when she does the GIdol Radios (Like, "If you enjoyed doing this, then try out...).
(PS: Pame already expressed interest in being a VA. :3 No cookies required. xD)
