Oban Star Racers - Wikipedia It says that: - It was created by Savin Yeatman-Eiffel of "Sav! The World Productions" - Originally planned as an all-French, all-CGI production, the animation is mixed-media, with 2D Japanese-animated characters and sets produced in Japan by the aformentioned Hal Film Maker (works include: Angel Sanctuary, Boys Be, DearS, to name a few), and with 3D French-animated ships and races produced by "Pumpkin-3D" - It originally aired on France 3 and Jetix (previously known as Fox Kids) - Does have a Jap version (the op song "A chance to shine" was used internationally except US. It says here that the ED was intact in the US as well) It's more likely similar to a Western Show that is simply dubbed to Japanese. Therefore "not" an Anime. (Like Robotech and Macross or the Powerpuff girls with their counterpart) Kneel Before the Great and Benevolent Cow! |

Re: What do you think anime is?

well... the problem here is not the songs... but the Series... You see... After the companies started noticing how the "Anime" way of Animation is a good way to make an impact on viewers... a lot of "Anime-inspired" Shows started popping out... Oban Star Racers is indeed one of them... If you're asking: "How come some of the theme songs are in Japanese if it was stated for a western release?" Well... it could be a sort of "Marketing Strategy" in their part... A good example for this would be "Teen Titans". It had both an English and Japanese song versions which were sang by Puffy AmiYumi. Some Scenes and Art are taken from "Anime" as well... (Reactions of Characters, etc...) But even if the songs are in Japanese. It still is a Western Show. Examples of Shows that spawned a Japanese version are Robotech (Macross), Power puff Girls (Demashitaa! Powerpuff Girls Z) If you're asking why i keep using Robotech as a basis for this... it is a perfect example of a Western Cartoon being remade and released in Japan (new script, Song, etc...) wow...people are so engrossed with anime...hahaha forgive for being so ignorant but to me an anime is simply a cartoon or animation made in japan which usually deals with love and friendship themes, which result on some half baked philosophy and consist of big eyed characters and sexy girls!hahaha and i dont care if the show is anime or a cartoon as long as i find story and the animation good then im up for it!hahaha |
Re: What do you think anime is?

No man... Because of its ever growing popularity... the need to differentiate "Cartoons" and "Anime" is needed... even if it is only as small as this... The art is a factor already... it is the core drawing style in Japan... thus it originates from there and "Symbolizes" the country itself... Think of it like... Arranging a File Cabinet... or the like... we have to carefully put in together the various and different files to prevent confusion... Kneel Before the Great and Benevolent Cow! |

I was gonna reply with utter praise for anime (Japanimation; ooh, I'm gonna start using that :3), but reading the previous posts, I'm getting the idea that this thread was created in order for you to defend your request for that specific OST. Never mind. |

Anime is an escape for me, when I watch it it makes me feel good inside and forget about my mundane human life. |

Anime are creations of people for me. A creation to have our lives more meaningful. It can make us escape reality in a second when we watch it. It can make our lives more colorful than ever it would be. Just like they said, 'colorless doesn't means no color. 'Cause no color means white but white is a color isn't it?' So we couldn't just say that our lives a colorless without something. But without anime for me is like colorless, really, really colorless. like a wind that can only be felt but cannot be seen... Anime isn't just like a movie or something that we are watching. Understanding anime is like understanding oneself. |

Anime is simply a caricature of real life. While inaccurate in its depictions, it can have amazing accuracy at times. |
