If this topic is not allowed kindly close or lock this thread but please dont ban me Uhm, since it's summer and i have nothing to do, i decided to download torrent files. Since its my first time to use it, im kinda lost. Here's the scenario: I downloaded the file using torrent, after DLing, i tried playing it in Windows Media player but it says : Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file. So i downloaded free codec online. Still it doesnt work. Help is greatly appreciated. If you download a torrent file, you must open it with something like this. Then it'll download, and after it's downloaded you may open the media or whatever you downloaded ^_^ Remember, the more seeds a torrent has, the faster it'll download. The more leechers it has, the slower it'll download (you'd be a leecher if you download it). And remember, after your download it at 100%, leave it open! I've heard everywhere that you should leave it open for as long as you can, but I'm not sure why... And don't worry, you're not banned, but I think this has been addressed before. So, next time, use the forum's search function to make sure your question isn't already answered ^_~ |

you leave it open for as long as possible because after the download has finished you will start uploading (thus becoming a seeder)^^ ![]() |

Yeah, i've read something like this before and i searched for it but i can't seem to find it so i made another one. I did leave it after DLing, truth is it IS still open. Thankies for the replies but what i really wanted to ask is what shall i do to make it work? Is there something i did or did not do? EDIT: Will i be able to burn the downloaded file to a cd eventhough i cant play it in on the pc? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Read sachiel's post again. The torrent file is not the file(s) you actually want. What you need to do is get yourself a bittorrent client (there are lots out there), open up the torrent file in that client, and it will start downloading the files you actually want. Sachiel gave a link to one of the more basic clients. You can try the more advanced ones if you want (Azureus, BitTornado, BitComet, ABC, µtorrent) I know I'm missing a few. |

...... Yeah. You seriously need a bittorrent client. Download the client, and open the torrent file with it. Then the REAL download of the REAL files you wanted will start.

The simplest one is the one that sachiel directed you to. If you want a bit more control over your downloads, try µtorrent. |
