*found this little blurb on another furum For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health, and it's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting medical studies: 1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than the Canadians, British, Australians or Americans. 2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and also suffer fewer heart attacks than the Canadians, British, Australians or Americans. 3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than the Canadians, British, Australians or Americans. 4. The Italians drink excessive amounts of red wine and also suffer fewer heart attacks than the Canadians, British, Australians or Americans. 5. The Germans drink a lot of beer and eat lots of sausages and fats, and suffer fewer heart attacks than the Canadians, British, Australians or Americans. 6. Ukrainians drink a lot of vodka, eat a lot of perogies (should be piroshkis) and cabbage rolls and suffer fewer heart attacks than the Canadians, British, Australians or Americans. CONCLUSION: Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you. ![]() ![]() |

The French do too! Lots of wine balances their diet! At first, Americans might consider their diets unhealthy, but the wine helps! |

I don't care what that forum says, since it's an unreliable source. English is still the most universal language, and one that I am proud to speak. |

Actually it has been found that anything that eats food dies. So eating food is bad for you. Is that thin or what. ![]() |

Jokes are half meant. So, if you'll take this seriously, you'll learn that there's some truth to it. I don't want to die by having a heart attack, I'll speak in Japanese from this day on... LoL ^_^; |

I see that some of you took this seriously, and most knew it was a joke. I think of this as an insight to how different cultures may be living better than americans per say but mostly because of how their food intake is and genetics too. american mass media is more into making people crave heavily on food and how the obesity rate might just be the reason the food industries profits are so high. so what do they do to fix the obesity? absolutely nothing! but make bigger deals on bigger more popular fast food chains so we all get hooked. how many commercials have you seen where they advertise a family taking the time and eat dinner that's been made from scratch?.....ok now how many BK(Burger King) etc. commercials do you see offering fast convenient (and excuse to not sit with your family) food? a lot more.... possibly 87% in my mind. but I digress. yes this was a joke, no you will not die if you speak english, and you can eat what you want but it's interesting to wonder how japanese stay so thin even compared to their standards ![]() ![]() |

I think it is all in the genetics, but I must disagree with one thing:
In my opinion, you will die eventually, regardless of what language you speak |

@クイ: according to oecdobserver.org, in 1999 only 3% of Japanese (and Koreans) were clinically obese, opposed to 33% in the United States. This is an entire order of magnitude difference, so the difference is very highly statistically significant. Furthermore, to me, 97% of a population constitutes the use of the word "most". Next time, check the facts before arguing with someone. Also, you might want to triple check the facts before arguing with my staff, and especially my girlfriend. The trend may be changing rapidly, but it is nevertheless true at the moment. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
