I prefer not to give a real opinion. I'll just say that if I was given the chance to live there, I would so take it.

I don't like this place very much at all T.T Too many child labor laws that "help" you even though they really just get in the way. A single way to avoid problems if the laws weren't there: don't accept the job.

ehhhh I must first state the first rule of all questions

"The complexity of a question is inversely related to the complexity of the answer."

In other words, ask a simple question, and you have to get a big, long answer to explain it quite accurately....

So, basically, I think good of the US and bad of it, depending on the situation. Americans need to take more care in foreign policy; even if they are a superpower, it doesn't give them a right to stomp on all the weaker countries. In fact, it's in their own best interest, since while the US is strong, they can't survive against all the rest of the world. Cooperation is necessary, whether they like it or not.

Furthermore, while Americans are pretty good at tolerating other culture's beliefs and traditions (generally speaking) they still have a long way to go: homosexuals, for starters, deserve equal civil union rights as heterosexuals. Moreover, most Americans are incredibly insulated and unaware of what actually goes on in the rest of the world, and they should take more care to educate themselves about their global neighbors.

It would be wonderful if they were a bit less materialistic, as a people, and a bit more conservative of natural resources, but this could be said, I think, of virtually any developed nation at this point.

Americans get no kudos from me for the widespread acceptance of various religions (especially Christianity), but then again, I'm evil, so that's to be expected.

Many good points, however, deserve to be pointed out. Considering its cultural diversity, America has fairly little ethnic strife - especially considering recent problems most of Europe is having with Muslims that seem to have mostly passed the US by.

Moreover, the USA is also today's front runner in terms of most scientific study and achievement. (Excepting cloning and stem cell research, of course.)

Besides all that, they got the Deftones. That's pretty much an argument-ender right there.

There are a lot of problems, and a lot of good things about the US.

Good things:
We do have a lot of freedoms.

Many things we do in this country, would stick us in jail in other countries.

Bad Things:
Discrimination is huge. It's probably like this in other parts of the world, but the south is very racist. I hear a lot of people say the south is nicer and racism is not as bad anymore... We have race gangs, and people not only making fun, but still killing because of race. We also had a death because a boy was gay.

Religion is crazy. Don't get me wrong, some christians I do not mind. However, the ones that try to force it onto people and the ones that go up to a homosexual and say the should never be married are the ones that annoy me.

Basically, the rights we have are our greatest strengths and weakness at the same time. Makes me want to go to Canada sometimes.

I see, well compared to other countries, the US really has something to boast...or maybe a lot of things to boast

all i can say is that i don't have that 'american dream' like most of my fellow filipinos. i'm not really attracted to it nor very grateful to its existence. it's just similar to other countries outside ours, that's how i look at it. someday i would pay visit because it sure have wonderful sights to behold just like any other countries.

@rin-chan: i would say that the US government did a good job trying NOT to stick their noses into WW2! Emperor Hirohito directly caused the US involvement in WW2 when he ordered the strike on perl harbor. The US government did make horrifyingly evil mistakes (nukes and japanese-american internment, etc.), dont get me wrong. I think the US government had some warning of the attack and could have better prepared for it. I do believe that the attack was used as an EXCUSE to go to war. But the thing is, in this case, it was a valid excuse! Hirohito was a danger to all people on earth. His disregard for the lives of his people is sickening.

Not only that, but the Germans were attacting American convoys sending supples to make war vehicles to Britan. The German U-boats also attacked boats with Americans during the war. That and,as Gendou stated, the attack on Pearl Harbor led to America's involvement.

Interesting fact: The men in Pear Harbor sunk a German U-boat a few hours before the actual Japanese attack begun. That is why I think America should have known something was up.

History is fun woooooooooooo.

America has it's good and bad sides, but quite frankly, I am almost positive that I'll move to another country when I'm older.

I think America is far too financially motivated. People are much too greedy and everything seems to have a monetary value. It seems profit and loss are the only words that matter anymore. America, at times, gives proof to the phrase: "Money is the root of all evils." Even the death of Rosa Parks warranted merchandise at exuberant prices. That truly sickens me. That being said, it is a pretty free counrty...as long as you're not a minority.

Watch The Boondocks

On the topic of sticking our noses into things or not:

WW2: Millions of Jews died during the Holocaust and despite pleas from distinguished scientists, including Albert Einstein, the American public felt little reason to help. Most Americans at the time were actually anti-semitic as well. It wasn't until Pearl Harbor that America felt it necessary to do something.
Ironically, about 60 years later, with the war in Iraq, it seems that we can't help sticking our noses into things. This goes without saying that the many problems we already had are being worsened or ignored, while the war continues.

Well, this was a pretty bitter reply. Please realize that I don't hate this country, I just see a lot of disappointing faults in it that could be rectified and yet are ignored. I better stop talking or the FBI will pay me a visit...

I hope no one takes offense to this.
