Media Player Classic is teh best because it is very simple, VERY small, and plays *EVERYTHING* you will ever need it to play. The only thing you might miss is a playlist feature. Winamp can cover that for you though.

Use the list I gave Rin, dump media and real players they are security holes. Replace real player with Real ALT and use QT alt for Quicktime.

Most codecs are available at http://www.free-codecs.com/ although you may need to hunt down Indeo, Mastrovka (MKV) and Ogg Vorbis (OGM) codecs. You should also have the current Divx and and Xvid codecs installed as well.

I am the media master. I sit here and mouse, mouse, click, mouse, click drag and Zipang from a fansub on my TV in 5.1.

Did you find a 5.1 fansub encode of Zipang or are you just proud to have that many speakers in one room? I've never seen fansubs with more than your standard stereo encoding.

Ranger

I have a few fansubs in 5.1 not many though. We don't usually watch in 5.1 anyway unless it's a movie. 5.1 can really dominate a room and knock down anything else you might want to here. Besides who needs 5.1 with sub-titles.

Media players I use for anime

1) Media player classic (incredible)
2) Windows Media Player 9
3) Videolan (backup, very good standalone)

I tried and hated BS player. It just didn't work well on my computer.

I also have divx player and winamp but never use them for anime. Winamp is great for music though and its playlsit function is easy to use.
