Darkness is just the absence of light. Matter moves so it creates enery in the form of photons and such, like ilikeanime said. The atoms of other matter absorb said enery and thus they move creating energy themselves. The more enery something has, the brighter it is, more or less.
You need a reason to be sad. You don't need a reason to be happy. The secret to happiness is to face the fact that the world is horrible.
