My DVD-ROM is region restricted because I put in a DVD from Europe (Rat Race if anyone's interested) a long time ago. Ever since then I'm trying to find patches to unlock the region restriction so I can watch my DVDs on PC. Problem is a lot didn't help and were trial. Does anyone have similar problems? If so, what do you do? Thank you. |

Can you go to configuration or options or something like that, and change the parental controls or regional locks or something? That's what I would do, although I've never had that happen to me. |

Nope, once locked it's forever locked. DVD-ROMs after 2000 have that 5-freebie region changer before it sets on the last one. |

Buy a DVD player in China! All DVD-ROM formats in any region will play! |

Oh shit! I have the same problem!!!! >.< I just recently bought this Gokusen Live Action: Season 1; went home and got pissed at my fussy player that didn't even read the first disc! Tried all, but to nay avail. P.S.: DVD player in China? Kainis talaga!!!! |

Some dvd playing programs will play different regions and some will only let you change the region a set number of times. Try Media Player Classic. I use that for all my files. I don't have any disks from other regions but I haven't seen any region settings in the program either. |

Part of the problem is when they first created DVD-ROM drives in PCs there were legal issues or something of the sort so they made it set to the first region coding that you use in them. I recommend just reinstalling whatever your main DVD player program that your windows is set to default to to fix it. Or just download dvd decrypter and have it copy it to your harddrive when you want to play it so it doesn't matter what region it is.

You forget, H4xor dude, not everyone likes devoting 5gb of their hard drive at a time just to watch a dvd. Not everyone even has that much to spare. |

It's just an alternative in case. Just download PowerDVD and get a key for it and that should fix your problem otherwise.

That's the thing... I am using PowerDVD with a key! Oh dear... I'll try the Media Player Classic by downloading it somewhere. Anymore suggestions? Thank you everyone so far. |

You can download Media Player Classic using the link I gave below. I think you may come to use it for all you media needs, after all it plays almost everything if you have the codec for it (DVD, cda {audio cd}, avi, mkv, ogm, mp3, ogg, swf, vob, mpg, asf, mp4, aac, wma, wmv, mov, ac3, wav, rm, ra). |

I just tried the Media Player Classic. It gave me the message "Region Invalid" something like that. I guess it affects the whole drive being locked. What I used to try were trial programs like SlySoft and other small programs that got rid of the locking nonsense until the trial period expired. New question: How can I remove info from my PC so I can continuously use the trial program? |

THank you very much! I'm sorry but I'm new at this. What am I supposed to do once I find a crack for the Slysoft trial program? |

I assume by crack you mean a registration key. Just find the registration button in the program that should bring up a window for you to type it into. Paste in the cd key from seriall and it should unlock your program. |
