I don't give my name over the internet, but I go by the alias of Zack Aegis. In terms of favorite animes, Gundam is at the top of the list. Overall, I prefer mech animes, though I'll watch almost any anime (as long as there is NO YAOI). Also, I'm anti-yaoi, so if I stumble on an anime with it (ex: Gravitation), I'll shut it off and curse off for a few hours wondering why I even looked at it. I'm non-yuri, meaning that I don't mind yuri, but I prefer not to see it. As for Gundam series, I am strictly ANTI-SEED. Can't stand a ripoff series where the director is controlled by the writer (aka his wife). Seed may have turned out better if his wife wasn't in charge... Oh, and I believe in psionics, so that's why people think I'm crazy... Oh...and I love to use ellipsis'...see...? Well...that's the most I can say.... |

Good call. Mech anime is probably some of the best overall. Dude in the flat across the hall is crazy about all things Gundam. I know this may be going out on a limb, but, yaoi and yuri kind limit the whole experience of anime in general. One of the things that seperates classics from dated material is the ability to transcend the media it is expressed in and state something that is immortal and universally true. Some of the Gundam series and Evangelion accomplishes this goal by expressing profound themes in visually appealing ways. The yaoi and yuri aspects of anime are very particular to people who experience and are fans of those sorts of attitudes/behavior. All of us, on the other hand, experience the normal gambit of human experiences and emotions. That is where the transcendental quality of anime comes in, making it classic. So, I agree with you on that. Overall, my fav anime is ROD the tv series. Only because I am also a bibliophile and can sympathize with them about books. I don't know about psionics, but I do believe in clairvoyance, mostly in prognostication. I added that as my paranormal belief. I am a philosophy major. Love to debate, and anime is great art that provokes thought and debate. It would be good to debate some relatively neutral themes if anyone is up for it. I go by Mentalis as a pseudonym. Good to meet ya Zack Aegis. And anyone else out there. |
