Upload problem

| I was trying to fill a request, but then I found that the song is already on the site - just under a different/shorter name. So, I stopped uploading the file since it would be a repeat. But, I checked my profile and it shows the incomplete file there. Is there some way I can delete it? Or, is it automatically deleted if it's incomplete? Anyway, sorry about all this... |

i have debated wether or not to allow users to cancel their uploads, and i think it is a reasonable idea. i have not gotten around to coding it yet, but i will add it to my to-do list. for now, i have removed the incomplete upload.

i have the same problem. in my case, when i want to upload, my internet down or didn't connect, so i can't complete upload the song. how about my problem? am i can get banned 'coz this one?  |

you wont be banned. if you give it another try, the 2nd try upload will overwrite the 1st try.

Ooh, this is a good idea! It'll save Gendou a lot of trouble and citizens a few bans! As long as we're on the topic of banning... Should there be a "Three strikes, you're out!" rule? I kinda think that banning people right off because they made a n00b mistake is kinda harsh... If Gendou doesn't like me saying this, I'll delete this post myself.  |

strikes is an interesting concept. i think that there should be some "merit" field in the `User` table. but, like so many things, i have not gotten around to coding it yet. i am having trouble immagining how and when it would be used. i am thinking each "merit" point would be a "One-Up" like in mario, affecting the user's level (it could be negative). my 3 strikes rules is more of a powers of 10 rule: 1 day ban is a "warning", harmless offense 7 day ban is a "warning", damaging offense 10 day ban for second harmless offense 70 day ban for second damaging offense 100 day ban for third harmless offense 700 day ban for third damaging offense "harmless": slightly oversized sig/nick, uploading music which violates rules, talking smack in the forum, multiple accounts, asking a question in the forum that is in the FAQ. "damaging": significant request violation (wastes my time removing), dodging a ban (dont even think about it!), hotlinking, serious flooding, talking smack to admin. my core theory is deterrence: make following the rules worth it.

Yeah, you should read the rules, but it's like when you install something, do you read the whole user agreement thingy? People usually just click "OK" to get on with it. It's possible that's what happens with people on this site; they don't care enough to read the rules. |

| Thanks Gendou! Sorry for causing trouble - and thanks for not banning me either. (^_^);; I also think giving users the option to cancel uploads would be nice, but it sounds like you have a lot on your to-do list. Well, keep up the good work (^_^)b. |
