Nay FF9 gamers? =O

I've been looking up into several game threads for the past 3 days, but I haven't come across into ones that actually talk about Final Fantasy 9. Am I right, or did I just miss a post there? =/ |

Wow... that would break my heart then. =( |

FF IX is actually my third favorite FF game, it just gets surpassed by VI and VII. |

I really enjoyed FF5 myself, but FF9 was pretty good too.

Final fantasy IX is probably my second favorite in the series. (first would be VI.) The character diversity, music, and story won me over. It was the only next-gen Final Fantasy where you could have FOUR characters in your party! It also felt nice that the IX went back to FF's roots. Unfortunately, It's largely ignored among the mainstream. |

I agree. @ Nova The game simply lets you wander in the olden times and render you awe-struck from the colorful and fancy environment that it has to offer. While this game actually got me hooked in the Chocobo sidequest, I was, however, not into it in the earlier FFs; only shows that treasure huntings' more fun with this one. Another thing is the icon-thing popping above their heads, question mark or exclamation marks, which is quite thrilling. I dunno why, lol. It also gets exciting as you move on, from jump-ropes, to sword-battles with Blank and Baku (SFXs! Dunno what those are for), to frog-catching, to renewed card battles, to weapon/accessory syntheses, to moogle letter-delivery systems, to random encounters with creatures either out there to give you money/lotsa APs,, to Stelliazo coins' whereabouts, to Chocobo games, to optional bosses, secrets, etc! Since then, FF9 became my most favorite first it came out, placing FF7 after. Though I'm wondering why it isn't that popular, I guess they should make a movie out of it soon!!! =D |

i did play FFIX but it wasnt as good as FFVII or even FFX... the side quests was fun but the rewards wasnt that great so it sometime seem pointless... also there wasnt anyway to max your stats unlike FFVII,FFVII,FX. this will go fifth just after FFTactics
Signature goes here... i think

it's really simple why people are not so into it.the character designs are just simply retarded i should say.i mean come on...you have a monkey-boy as the main hero,a fat-ass chef with his tounge sticking out all the time as your companion,a wanna-be cowboy amigo tossing coins around,a freaking tall rat, a small girl, and a stupid-looking knight in rusty armor walking around like robocop (did i miss anyone aside from garnet???). the only character i consider ok in that game was kutja alone.yes i agree the game has alot of contents to offer, but i'm not gonna waste too much time playing as a monkey-boy.just my 2 cents. |

Let's put it this way, for appropriateness' sake: It's 'simply' how people only care about looks and appearances. @ Uruz. Well duh! RPGs are mainly not for CRAPPY characters, if so you claim. Take note of the storyline and everything, the threads of fates of each characters, how they go from here and there, the eidolons alone of their origins (even the FF7/FF8 have not talked about these stuff and just cared to equip them with either materias or junctions). I have to protest though…: "it's really simple why people are not so into it" Ah, you're definitely wrong. I'm into different forums, not just Gendou. And mind you, one of the forums actually talks about FF9. So many adore the game, that this certain 'Beatrix' user even made a roleplay-yahoogroups for people who were interested. There were too many who joined in that she had trouble who to choose and who to pinpoint with this character to that and so on. I'd let you join if you want. =) While I just had to make this thread, I was hoping to see other FF9 gamers, not dissers. Zidane - Yeah he's a monkey playboy, (nay offense to Squall/Cloud fans, so I'm stating this beforehand) but at least he's not some crazy, trouble-minded, aloof, introverted protagonists (with/without ADD, maybe) like Squall and Cloud who actually make it obvious for other people that they are ABNORMAL, that they need serious attention and 'that' someone to worry about them so much. Well, they just want to look cool 'n stuff. Quina - Yeah... fat-ass chef with an annoying tongue. And just to correct you, Quina's he/she. So he/she's not 'HE', but HE/SHE. (Gee, I'm betting that you were not really paying attention to the game; that's not subtly portrayed by him/her anyway.) Amarant - Wanna-be cowboy? What the heck... Amarant; he's not even a cowboy! He doesn't tend cattle, doesn't ride a horse or anything, doesn't wear a special 'cowboy' hat (well, if you think that's a friggin' red hat on his head. NAY! It's his damn, red 'n flairing hair. Truthfully, he's a MERCENARY only hired for killing. And his main objective happens to be coming across that 'stronger' one than him and eventually fighting him, hoping that after, he'd find meaning in his life. Freya - If I were you, I'd rather hide under my bed and regret that 'freaking tall rat' comment before I get my arse speared. By the way, Freya does not deserve that 'freaking' adjective, in fact, she's the calmest person—a very commendable and honest woman with a very honest heart. She has had endured a lot of suffering, but still there she is, willing to fight till the end and even lending a hand to her friends. Though you'll see in the end that she had more to grief, but she was steadfast enough to continue what's in store, not only for her, but also for that special someone. Eiko - Small girls are perfectly normal. Steiner - Aye, so far... one correct. Congratulations! Aye, he may be stupid, but I know for a fact that he's far intelligent than a person whose matters of concern are retarded character designs 'n whatnot. Sadly, that person would miss a lot. Now, who would even forget such an adorable character, though reluctant of his true motives, who's cutely reckless and timid, but is feared for his assortment of destructive black magic? Yep, 'you'! You missed Vivi, the black mage. He was even the first playable in the very beginning. Oh, and it's spelled 'Kuja' not 'Kutja'. And did you know? Kuja's actually a sissy, needless to say. Nay wonder you prefer him among all those lovable characters. OMG! I'd say you haven't played the game that well. How can you even judge this game without knowing full details? Then you just went on dissing it with your stupid fetish? How is that? Ah well, don't bother with your 2 cents, I'm sure the game wouldn't give a damn for you. Therefore, I conclude... You're a retarded, crappy RPG player. Oh, same applies to Tak as well. Why? Because both of you just go along. ^_^ |

RIGHT ON!!! Rukia!!!! WAY TO TELL'EM!!! If you love final fantasy you wouldn't diss the games....so that means we have some imposters..>_< Me i'm an old school gamer...i appreciate the older games...FF 4-6 are my fave in the series...which is why i thought FF 9 was nice and refreshing....concentrating mainly on storyline & character development rather than fancy fireworks and graphics.Final Fantasy games are not afraid to change thing up once in awhile...no two games are similar....they went back to their roots that made them as successful as they are now.... The characters were all special in their own way...Rukia basically explained all you need to know...Steiner's not that bad...and yeah how did you forget about Vivi...he/she is one of the most coolest characters in FF.The way he/she wanted to protect his friends by using his powers....that was sweet! FF 9 had some of my fave moments in the series....like the one i mentioned earlier about Vivi...Garnet cutting her hair....the Airships coming to the rescue...and the end....how can you not like that ending...almost brought a tear to my eye! |

Lol. I think I just went berserk with my previous post. Heck yeah! Ah well, just after I read those 'particularly' nonsense posts, random notches quickly popped on my head all-anime like. Too much accumulation of aggravation, displeasure, exhaustion and the like, that I needed to vent them all out VERBALLY, to the point of 'dissing' the not just the replies, but the users themselves. But still, I did not want those to let those pass. >=( "the only character i consider ok in that game was kutja alone" That's just queer, I must say. (Here I go again, dissing another character. But not the game itself! Just the character; anyways, nay offense to Kuja fanboys/fangirls, but this is rather important to clarify some things.) I firmly believe that Kuja's not O-K: (1) physically; (2) mentally; and (3) emotionally. (1) Physically: Just look at him; how he would dress (I must admit that he's sexy… too sexy that he looks gay for overly exposing his flesh, nay… maybe looking more like of a slutty girl), and how he would gesture (his movements are smooth though; especially exemplified in the FMV where he rides on his Silver dragon). (2) Mentally: He's ABSOLUTELY insane! You can just count him as one of the psychotic, mentally retarded guys like Sephiroth, Kadaj, Yazu, Loz, Seifer, etc. (Those kind of guys always have to look good, appealing, hot, sexy, 'n whatnot; at least they would be remembered for those exceptionally, highly characteristics other than being insane, I guess. Ah… fangirls/fanboys are everywhere even.) (3) Emotionally: He hates everything; you, me, they, even himself. "i'm not gonna waste too much time playing as a monkey-boy" Kuja's a monkey-boy himself. They're BROTHERS; related. I assume in your perspective, Kuja's more attractive than Zidane. But Zidane's all better in any other aspects. That would be 1 to infinity. Zidane pawns Kuja in more than ways you can imagine. Kuja was more of the game's play-toy. There was not enough character development in him, but only in the end where he is given the 'truth': the revelation of his creation, his existence and his purpose as a being—a Gnome. First, I liked him too, and it's normal for his outward appearance is really striking. But it only went as far as in the end, as what I've just mentioned. And that changed everything; from admiration, to abhorrence. Though I'm not really 'dissing' him, I'm just stating, from the given facts above, that he's not really O-K. Now, I don't think you would still call a physically, mentally, and emotionally unstable character O-K, wouldn't you? To sum all of that… it's clear enough. Kuja's just a goody-two-shoes with that alluring face; nothing more. You shouldn't be blinded by looks alone, unless… if you're a fangirl/fanboy… -Laughs.- That would be all. |
