Ok...I need to conduct a survey for a friend: Do you think students should have cell phones in school?
Write yes or no and a brief description why (ex. emergency, etc.).
Thank u for participating!

i think you should carry your cell phone in school if you have one, for emergencies, etc. it should be off, though.

if the student misbehaves with the cell phone, ex: using it during class, it should be taken away, or not allowed at school.

Yes, cellphone is needed in school in case of emergency. You can put it in silence mode too. But student should not use their cellphones while in class and if your cellphones bother you just ignore it and if you know that a text message or a call is not that important just ignore it.then, return to them after your class.

^_^v PEACE OUT!

I think cellphones should be allowed in school. As long as all your relatives and friends know your school hours they know not to call you then. Just put it on vibrate or turn it off so if there is a big emergency you can get the message. I really think that teachers and students should all be able to understand that if you are getting a call from your home during school hours, it will most likely be an emergency. But at the same time, your parents can call your school for emergencies. In my opinion, Yes. They should be allowed.

Dubbed? No thanks. I prefer my seiyuu to what you call "a really cool english voice." ^_^ Visit my Xanga for contact info, or to simply read more about me.

Cellphones should be allowed in schools, but attached to this is a big responsiblity. This is because there are untoward incidences or emergencies that might happen wherein you would need it.

I too think students should have cellphones with them as it is convinient in case of emergencies. Those days in my school( i didnt have a cellphone then)n it was terribly troublesome as when i need to call home sometimes as in certain events school finish early i ve to wait the long que for the public phone(these only 2 in my school n only one is operational most of the time) plus this people juz keep on talking like they own the phone. Man it was hactic as to wait there while these people talk as if their home doesnt have a phone n those days vandalism was common so most of the time the public phone is damage so i often have to walk quite a distance to the nearest public phone. Tiring n frustrating.
The problem with students having cellphones around is that they do not turn it off/place it in silent mode as many suggest, so it often disrupts the class and also the potential for playing SMS(short messaging system) during classes. But u see, those days, the teachers cellphone also disrupts the class as it rings occasionally. So think about it. They ban us from carring cellphones in school n yet the teachers cellphone also is a factor which disrupts the class!

So, in conclusion, students should be allowed to carry their cellphones around for convinience but they should not abuse their rights given to them.

It's not bad to bring a cellphone in school... its bad using/having a lvl.5 ringing cellphone in class... Cellphones in class should be in vibrate mode to avoid disturbing the class...

As almost everyone mentioned below, yes cellphones should be allowed to be brought into class incase of emergencies. But people shouldn't abuse it by making or receiving unnecessary calls during class.

yeah, cellphones should be allowed in school for emergency and communication purposes. Students, in return should know their responsibilties. set it to silent mode just so you wont disturb the class.

no, cellphones are just used by students for showing off their wealth. they are just vices. if there are emergencies use the payphones. it's better to learn first aid than to bring cellphones. any way it causes cancer.

note: because all of you says yes I am forced to say no. just for variety. any way a survey is boring if you see that 100% of respondents say yes.

I feel that while Cellphones should probably be simply allowed in school, they should either be not allowed in classrooms (eg: keep it in a locker) or turned off during class. The only purpose of a cell phone in school should really be to make calls, not really to be receive them (and by extension, constantly checking your cell, each minute, or each time it vibrates)...

Though I do believe that in an emergency, they are used to call for help, the remaining majority of the time, I agree somewhat with Jester that they are used as a show-off piece, a vice of sorts... People tend to show them off, displaying how "trendy" and "hip" they are, that they can call their friends (who are more often than not in another room in the same darn school), on their cell... I think it's this method of thinking that distracts from classes; As above, even though they might not be having the phone ring, they are constantly checking it, and looking over it every time it might vibrate, which is a big distraction during class;

(I know I've personally given speeches on using technology to a bunch of salesmen who are much older than me, and they act like frickin' babies if they have their cellphones on them during my talking, by constantly not paying any attention, and just constantly checking their blasted phones & their voice mail & their text messages, etc...) I suppose this is why I feel for teachers who see cellphones in the classroom in the same way...

yes cellphones should be allowed in school. you'll never know when an emergency might come up.

one section on my year got scolded co'z of a text message. the professor was really mad and started ranting about etiquette and stuff. but guess what, the phone only ringed once, and the tone was "Beep Once". Crazy.

Yeah, I gotta agree. Phones should be allowed, as long as they're on vibrate.

Ya they should be allowed, but you would be suprised of the stupidy and irresponsibilty of kids in school. Like how its during the final and the teacher tells all the kids to turn off their cell phones, and you get 3 cell phons ringing during the final. How stupid do you have to be to not know how turn your cell phone off. In my school a cell phone would be ringing in class every day despite they fact the kids know they would get taken away. Usually the teachers just tell the kids to turn it off and the idiots never learn and cell phones keep ringing with all their annoying tunes.

What happened to the good old days where phones would just ring. I think they should be allowed except to the idiots who arent responsible enough to use them. Besides there are phones in every class room, payphones, and the attendence office phone for emergencies.

Well I see why you guys agree that phones should be allowed in school. You haven't seen bad situations like students who are addicted to their phones...

My classmates text each other inside the room, because they're all unlimited (SMART) and they're totally irresponsible of it
e.g. leaving it to just anyone then, when they lost tract of where it is, they go "WHERE'S MY PHONE!!!!!!!!"

I don't bring my phone at school and I survive everyday without a hassle...

I can say students be allowed if they don't abuse the right and is responsible for it... I mean it's annoying always hearing their cry for their "lost" phones.

SORRY FOR WRITING SO MUCH... COULDN'T HELP MYSELF...

We hav put it in silent mode and can only use it during emergencies.

@ ^nEoN^
do you know how to set unlimited(smart)?

okei, to the point, in my previous school cellphones were allowed to be brought but they were discouraged because they might lose it. now, well, there's nothing written in the handbook that we shouldn't bring cellphones. Neways, I like it when phones ring during class... it adds to our class fund >:D

Heck I remember the day when my school wouldn't let you bering in a personal stereo.

Mobiles should be allowed, but as mentioned earlier they should be turned off and left in a locker or a bag.

There are ample breaks during a day for you to check for messages and important calls. If there is a genuine need for you to be contacted during class, the person needing to get in touch can simply call the school switchboard and get a message to you. That's what we did in the days before cell phones.

99 times out of 100 the messages/calls recieved are not as urgent as you think.

Besides, in the big real world after school, your employer will expect your phone switched off and for you to do a proper days work. Failure to comply will result in sacking, not a visit to see the principal.
