To Kill a Mockingbird

I recently read and loved this book, so I went to fanfiction.net to see if there was anything good. When I checked the profiles of the authors who had written fics for it, it looked like a lot of them were otaku! I think we as otaku have good taste. Is there anyone here who loves this book?

It was actually a pretty good book! We had to read it last year in Lang Arts. Then we watched the movie and did a lovely compare/contrast thing with it.

I have read this book 4 times. It was given to me when I turned 13. This book inspired me to become a lawyer and be able to fight for the rights of others. I like the trial part.

I liked it too, just the stupid teacher made us do stuff to make us not like it so much after. Like looking in the whole book just to find some vocab and define them and all that stuff. I liked Gregory Peck as his part as Atticus. If its one thing I learned by the book (among the many things) and in the movie, its what a mad dog acts like.

I doubt I ever would have read it if I hadn't been made to for school. I picked it up one time, and was so bored by the first chapter that I condemned it to the Bookshelf of Classic Non Sci-Fi/Fantasy Books I Shall Never Read. However, once I had read the whole thing, I didn't dislike any part of it, including the first chapter. I just wish my language arts teacher hadn't had us all analyze it to death...

Read this book back in middle school... seems like everyone I know likes this book. It really is a good one.
In fact, the book has been so popular over the years that some people wonder why the author never decided to write anything else. Could be dozens of reasons.

My theory on why Harper Lee never wrote another book is that she never want to be an author. She may have written TKaM because she wanted to express her opinion on any/all of the themes of the book, or because the idea for the book came to her and she didn't want to let it go. Or, maybe she did want to become an author, but once she got through it, she decided she didn't want to repeat the whole process over again. Or maybe she just had writer's block for a very, very long time. Believe me, it's happening to me right now with my story. -_-

I liked it, but it seems to me, having a book be required as part of a class (Freshmen year, High School for me) makes it somewhat less enjoyable.

I am very pleased to see you all enjoyed To Kill a Mockingbird. It was also an excellent film made in the late 40s early 50s. I recommend it for everyone.

omg... why on earth would anyone recommend anything by catherin lim... >< [sorry if i offended anyone....] it just that some of her books are rather... un-censored... [though i could always just be me...]
anyway, yar. for those of you who disliked the book because you had to do it for lit or something along those lines. you really shouldn't let school get into your way of enjoying the book. it's such a waste [at least in my opinions... and they are normally in the minority... so i wouldn't say anything, if anyone wants to start bashing me... ><] yep. it's really v.v.v.v.nicee ^^...
okay shall stop extra-ing
