Most of my friends pronounce Inuyasha In-you-wa-sha and Miroku Ma-row-coo. It's sad ;_; How do you pronounce Kirara corectly anyways?

"Well, I'm not sure. A little voice in my head is saying 'this is a bad idea' but I can barly hear that little voice because an even louder little voice is yelling "LET THE 12-YEAR OLD DRIVE!'" - from The Cat in the Hat

I've heard that 'In-yu-asha' one, that's painful. I've actually had people pronounce Midoriko (my cat's name) wrong. It's Mi-do-ri-ko not Ma-duri-ku, eeergh.

Technically, "Kilala" is an accurate translation (remember, "r" and "l" are interchangeable in Japanese), but the wrong syllable is emphasized.
"Kilala" sounds less awkward in English, to, imo.
And if Mimiru isn't pronounced "Mee-mee-roo", than how is it pronounced?

I have found that people often mispronounce any name with the ending -suke (ex: Sasuke, Sanosuke, Ryonosuke). They pronounce it "soo-kay" when it should be just "skay". Also in Gensomaden Saiyuki the English VAs constantly mispronounce many of the names.

This isn't really a mispronunciation, but I noticed in the Utena dub that it switched from saying 'HimeMYA' to 'HiMEmya.'

What's that? You say you want me to shut up? Well, tough cookies.

Actually, MacV, in my experience FANS get pissed when names are mispronounced, especially by dub VAs (yet they say nothing when English words and names are similarly messed up by the Japanese, which I've always found stupid)
Personally, I don't care. We mispronounce Japanese words, they mispronounce English words, *shurgs* no big deal either way...

well... no mistakes except for syllabication... or accent (??) i dunno but it sounds different if non anime lovers pronounce it...

what makes me sad is when i pertain to a certain anime... they'd say "oh... ragnarok again!" i mean... ragnarok is not even anime! (tho it has an animation) i mean... for them every anime is ragnarok and every male character is goku (from dbz)

Alot of people mispronounce the 'man' part of 'manga'. I think a problem alot of other people have is that they stretch out the syllables. If they said them more sharply, it would sound much better.

Personally, what annoys me more than people mispronouncing anime names is when they mispronounce my name. I've pretty much given up on caring what anyone calls me anymore. -_-;
