"Iriya no Sora, UFO no natsu", a great love-story anime that lasted only 6 episodes. An OVA direct from a jap novel "Iriya of the Summer, UFO of the Sky". A boy, Asaba, went to school late one night to use the pool. It was 4am in the morning, and then was when he met his love for the 1st time. Her name was Iriya Kana. She was a secret UFO pilot for the nearby army base although she was only 15 years old. She was trained from birth to pilot Earth's most lethal weapon and was Earth's only hope of winning the war against the alien race. Love developed and they became close love birds. That was until Iriya was ordered on a final mission to combat against the aliens. They were seperated, but they both understood each other. Although they thought it was unfair for Iriya to do the 'dirty' job for the sake of human kind, Iriya knew it was her job and duty to defend Earth. She had all the confidence and determination to win the battle, and that was "Asaba is on Earth, that's why i must defend it". Story ended with Asaba carrying on with his high school life, and awaiting the return of Iriya. No one knew whether Iriya made it or not, because her identity was after all a national top secret. Very well done...i was so touched that i cried. yes, i cried...
