Influenced by a world creation myth from the Navajo tribe, which can be found here if you want to read up on it. Plot Long ago, there were six Gods who, according to legend, created and ruled the land. The supposed "leader" of the six Gods was Bekotsidi, who created five mountains in the land. He gave four of the mountains to four of the other Gods: the First Man became the Ruler of the Blue Mountain, the First Woman became the Ruler of the Yellow Mountain, the Winter Woman became the Ruler of the White Mountain, and Coyotl became the Ruler of the Black Mountain. Bekotsidi created the fifth mountain last, the Red Mountain, and originally planned on giving it to the remaining God, the Fire God. However, the Fire God was jealous of the four mountains already created; after all, why did his mountain have to be created last? Due to his impatience and hot temper, the Fire God used his power to burn the land, destroying the forests and crops the other gods worked so hard to create. As a punishment, Bekotsidi proclaimed that the Red Mountain was to be his own, leaving the Fire God with nothing. However, the Fire God disliked this, and as a result he parted from the ways of his companions to become an evil God. He decided to seal himself away to bide his time and save his powers, letting him become more powerful as the other Gods wasted their powers on the world they worked so hard to create, eventually losing their physical form to gain an immortal spiritual form. He warned the other Gods that one day he would return and would wreck havoc on the world that had been unfair to him. Over 30,000 years have passed since the Gods last roamed the Earth. Humanity has prospered, mostly forgetting the warnings of the Fire God that came so long ago. Only the priests and priestesses passed on the legends of the Gods, and many of them thought the legends would not have implications on the world they lived in. That is, until the world slowly began to spiral into chaos. It was simple things at first, small-scale droughts and more storms, but later growing into a larger problem. Massive forest fires were prevalent, or the lack of forest fires as some forested areas grew out of control, blocking roads that were vital to cities. Tornadoes began to happen even in the off-season, and natural disasters like hurricanes and earthquakes became more powerful and more frequent. Eventually, the Fire God's devastation was able to affect living organisms, starting with epidemics which affected both animals and humans alike, leading up to affecting wildlife, causing previously peaceful animals to attack people, and even began to affect humans, making humans more evil by nature as people began to commit more crimes and making bandits more prevalent. To many, it seemed like the end of the world, but priests and priestesses had hope that the other five Gods would appear to them again and save the world from the Fire God and the minions he gathered to help him in his mission of destroying the world. The other five Gods did appear again, in a way. There is a rumor that the Gods would appear to certain people to aid them and to help them fight back against the Fire God. However, what many didn't realize is that the Gods would appear to them through messengers, as the Gods themselves had lost their physical form. The Gods created a number of messengers in the form of animals, known to many as Guardian Animals. The Guardian Animals have the divine on their side, and have been given special powers to protect the people of the world and to help stop the Fire God. However, each Guardian Animal must have a human companion, an owner, in order to activate and use their powers. This is where the tale begins. Geography The world that this RP will take place in is Brithet, a fantasy world unrelated to Earth. The technology of the world is around the Middle Ages, so naturally there aren't any guns/cannons in this RP. The map of Brithet is huge, so here's a link to the map for whenever you need it. The names in blue are the names of plain/swamp/marsh area, the names in pink are for mountains and hills, the names in yellow are for forest areas, and the names in green are larger, more notable bodies of water. Places with a circle are towns (Such as Drayton or Orton), places with the more rectangular castles are small cities (Such as Azmar and Demure), and places with the larger, squarer castles are large cities (Such as Maudington and Clemence). Notes about the Geography of Brithet: - Clemence is the largest city in Brithet, followed by Hamberyl and Barim. - Clemence is the economic capital of the world. There is a currency in Brithet (Which will just be referred to as gold, silver, and copper coins for simplicity's sake), however people can also barter for goods and services as well. Either of the two methods can be used anywhere in Brithet. - Towns and cities on either side of the Kinver Forest (Thured, Auwynsberg, and Canca) are generally made up of those who were originally forest nomads until the forests became too dangerous of a place for them to live in. As such, these towns are newer and a bit more haphazard, having more people living in tents than in actual buildings. - Hamberyl, Rosing, and Maudington are considered the cultural triangle: All three are in close distance to one another and all have significantly contributed to the culture of Brithet. Hamberyl is considered the primier architectural cultural center and has many large, regal, and innovative structures, Rosing is the art capital of Brithet and is home to the largest visual art academy in Brithet (As well as being home to many valuable paintings), while Maudington is the musical capital of the world, the home of many aspiring and renowned musicians, and has a number of scientists keen on developing technologies regarding sound. Coterel and Fitzberg, although not as well known as their larger neighbors, are also more culturally sophisticated cities. - Sailing is not very popular for trading due to the low technology of ships (Only smaller ships are useful on sea, larger ships that would be better for trading have not been perfected for travel yet), so cities that are bordering water are mostly reliant on their fishing to make them a popular trading spot. - Cities in between the Tipperary Mountains and the Paget Range (Shylton, Gorch, Pygott, Alington, Sayen, Skipwyth, and Dirgeton) are hard to get to due to their mountaineous location, but are worth it for archaeologists and priests. For whatever reason, there are many ancient buildings and temples in the areas around these cities. Lately they have become popular due to the artifacts these buildings and temples contain, which include the lore of the Gods, which many hope will give them a clue about how to stop the wrath of the Fire God. - The cities with the headquarters for each of the factions are as follows: The Guardian Society: Clemence, The Healing Fellowship: Barim, Merchants Guild: Hamberyl, Scientist Conglomerate: Maudington, Marauder Troupe: Clemence, Maudington, Rosing, Causton, Sayen (Instead of having one, large HQ they have multiple smaller HQ in each of these cities, making them easier to flee if need be). - I'll probably be adding more to this section as time goes on, there are a lot of cities and towns on the map for this RP so feel free to make up some world lore to incorporate it into your character and their backstory/the plot of the RP! For the most part I'll probably okay whatever it is unless it's something that's not doable or out of context for the RP. Factions Optional, if you don't want your character to be a part of a faction then just put down Neutral. Your character can drop a faction/join a faction at any time in the RP. Factions aren't meant to be something major in this RP, just something to give some benefits and disadvantages to your character and maybe some side-plot material as well. - The Guardian Society: Pros: Official Society to combat the Fire God, more experienced fighting against his forces. Cons: People blame them for destroying areas because the Fire God attacks them more specifically, since they attack him specifically and don't help to clean up the areas they have left behind, only guardian animal owners can be a part of it. - The Healing Fellowship: Pros: Helps areas of disaster regardless of whether the Fire God is currently there or if he has moved on, experienced healers, non-guardian owners can join. Cons: Not experienced in combat so usually cannot help in fights against the Fire God (Except when it comes to healing others). - Merchants Guild: Pros: Wealthy, mostly neutral to the Fire God situation unless it involves economics. Cons: Typically not experienced in any sort of combat themselves, looked down upon because they are labeled as greedy and due to the rumors of their involvement with the Marauder Troupe. - Marauder Troupe: Pros: Know the best places throughout Brithet to hide, typically more skilled in "dirty" combat, it's rumored that they have an alliance with the Merchants Guild. Cons: Can become a target of the Guardian Society (Since their criminal ways could be partially influenced by the Fire God), have to constantly be in hiding/on the run, looked down upon by society in general, characters with guardian animals can NOT be a part of the troupe. - Scientist Conglomerate: Pros: Have the latest technology of the time (Whether it is combat-related or not), generally more intelligent. Cons: Their technology makes them more of a target for the Marauder Troupe/Merchants Guilds, since they want to take their technology to try and make a profit off of it. - Neutral: Does not belong to any faction in particular (But can support/not support the efforts of a faction, if so then please say which one). Rules/Notes - Obvious one first, no power-abusing or god-modding. - I'm going to go along with the rule that you should post a lot so we can keep the RP going! Even right after another person posts if you want! If you get stuck with someone that hasn't posted in awhile then just make up a situation to get out of it and continue with the RP without having to rely on that person to post. - If you won’t be able to post for an extended amount of time, then please PM me, make a post in the RP, or make a post in Gendou RPer’s United saying so. - Script or novel style post, it doesn't matter. Just make sure others can understand what's going on. Please don’t make your posts in first person point of view (Unless it's in an OOC or something). - Love and violence are allowed, just keep it PG-13. I won't enforce this too strictly, just don't do something reckless, such as using strong language or going into detail. Leave the details to the reader's imagination. - This RP will be using absolute time since I find it easier to deal with rather than to fuss around with the time. Just make sure your character doesn't travel cross-country in a single post or something of the like. - Guardian animals can communicate with their owner telepathically, but cannot actually speak or communicate with other guardian animal owners. Only one guardian animal per owner. - Having a guardian animal is not hereditary and nearly up to chance. Roughly 30 to 40% of the population of Brithet have Guardian Animals, so there's a bit more than a 1 in 3 chance of someone having a Guardian Animal. - Up to 2 characters with guardian animals, but if you want more characters then feel free to have as many as you want without guardian animals so long as you can keep track of them. Naturally, they don't have to have the Guardian animal part of the profile (NPC's with occasional appearances can just be listed by Name/Gender/Age/Appearance, no need for Hometown or Current Location/Personality and Bio sections unless you want to note something important about them). - If you have to drop the RP, please post here or PM me about it! - Any questions or ideas about the RP? Just PM me, post here, or post in Gendou RPer’s United. - Have fun! Character Sheet Name: Gender: Age: (13+) Hometown/Current Location (If different): Faction: (If any, if you don't want your character to be a part of a faction then put down neutral) Weapon: (Optional, guns/explosives not allowed) Personality/Bio: (Things like occupation, family, history, etc. should go here. You don't have to reveal everything, but give us a general outline of the personality and past of your character.) Appearance: Guardian Animal: (Species; try not to repeat species with another person!) Name: Gender: Abilities: (Up to 4, and nothing God-modding/overpowered*) Personality: Appearance: (Optional, if there are distinct characteristics of your animal then you can just list them here) * The Abilities section should be only area of the character sheet that I'm going to be picky about (Unless if there's something major in your character that needs fixing), like I said before nothing overpowered and it should be fine. If you're not sure or if I find an ability overpowered then I'll let you know. Cast: I'm limiting the cast to 6 people total. A lot of the RP's I've been in lately have had smaller casts, which generally made them work out for the better. 1. Toyumi Aria Estrella (Neutral) & Solaris/Sol (Lion) 2. Fenris Theron Sylvanus Aquila (The Sylvanus Pathfinders/Neutral) & Alya (Golden Eagle) 3. Roxas Gilbert Woodgate (Scientist Conglomerate) & Horus (Snake) 4. Jon Caius Faust (Merchants Guild) & Anyu (Arctic Wolf) 5. Open 6. Open My Character: Name: Aria Estrella Gender: Female Age: 20 Hometown/Current Location (If different): Orton Faction: Neutral Weapon: N/A Personality/Bio: A charming girl who always tries her best to be friendly to others, but she does have quite a nasty side if you insult her. She has very strong beliefs, and will stand up for them if anyone tries to prove her wrong. She grew up in Orton, however she was often put into the care of her aunt or was traveling with parents, who worked as deliverers for the merchants of Orton (The merchants, incidentally, were her aunt and uncle). She lived her life as a normal person until she was 18 when, while Aria and her father were in Routon Plains en route to Vanguand, their caravan was attacked by a gang of bandits. Aria and her father were hopeless until a lion came to their rescue. They first thought it was odd for the lion to come to their rescue, but stranger yet was that it didn't leave the two as they continued their journey to Vanguand. It was only when Aria was left alone, waiting outside of a shop for her father to pick up some supplies, when the lion came up next to her and communicated with her, telling her that his name was Solaris and he was assigned to be her guardian animal. Aria accepted the lion warmly since he had saved her life, and spent the next two years of her life staying in Orton with him (After the close call, her father refused for her to travel with him or her mother outside of Orton, even though she would be protected by Solaris). Aria came to nickname Solaris and started to call him Sol as they lived together in Orton, which was mostly untouched by the wrath of the Fire God until recent. Appearance: Guardian Animal: Lion Name: Solaris, "Sol" Gender: Male Abilities: - Brute Strength: Since Sol is larger than a normal lion, he has more strength than a normal lion would. However, with this ability, he can increase his strength to the point that he can easily topple a wall or send any enemies around him flying. - Sun Burst: Sol can call upon fireballs to drop down from the sky onto his target. The size of the fireball can be anywhere from the size of a basketball to the size of Sol himself, however the larger the fireball, the more time it takes for Sol to prepare the attack (He can drop a basketball-sized fireball almost immediately although it would be easier to dodge, while one the size of Sol would be harder to dodge but would take 10-15 seconds to prepare). - Light Speed: With this ability Sol can increase his speed up to 45 mph (65 km/h) in spite of his large size. - Tough Skin: Sol can tighten his muscles and make his skin tougher, making it harder for arrows and swords to injure him. Personality: A calm and wise animal, Sol is very much like a guiding figure to Aria. His cool demeanor contrasts with Aria's warm personality. He is very protective of Aria and refuses to leave her side. Appearance: Pictured in Aria's appearance, he is larger than a normal lion. |

Name: Theron Sylvanus Aquila Gender: Male Age: 26 Hometown: Unknown to anyone but him and his family Current Location: Orton Faction: The Sylvanus Pathfinders (Neutral) The Pathfinders are all members of the Sylvanus clan. The clan is widely regarded to have some of the best quides, hunters and trackers in Brithet amongst their number. They are available for hire, but one should remember that each clan member has his or her own way of doing things. Weapon: Bow and Arrows, Spear Personality/Bio: Theron was born to a family of hunters and he was taught hunting almost as soon as he could walk. He is a master hunter regardless of the size of his prey and is a seasoned tracker as well. He spent several years in military as an advance scout and mastered the use of spear in combat. He first met Alya on his 13th birthday, calling her to him on instinct. The bond between the two has been inseperable ever since. His family has always been wanderers and though they meet rarely they still keep in contact with each other through messenger birds of various species. Theron is rather laid back in general, but is able to focus to a given task when situation calls for it. When threatened he warns those threatening him, once. Theron wears forged to fit exoskeletal armor on both of his arms and in addition to his weapons, he carries with him several knives and a pair of tomahawks for survival purposes. Theron wears a lightweight chainmail armor under his clothes, this armor has been reinforced with feathers shed from Alya making it much stronger than ordinary chainmail while keeping it lighter as well. His spear also has few feathers added that act as lenghtened blade on one side of the speartip, this addition can also be used as a hook while climbing. Appearance: Guardian Animal: Golden Eagle Name: Alya Gender: Female Abilities: Flare Lance: This ability fires out a focused beam of kinetic energy that causes whatever it hits to vibrate at high-speeds. It is channeled through Theron giving him full control of the ability as long as Alya is in contact with his body. He is capable of controlling the strength of the vibrations, at their strongest they are strong enough to melt metal and stone and even set them on fire. The beam stays focused up to medium range after which it disperses quickly, the beam travels to it's target almost instantly, making it extremely hard to dodge if he is able to aim. The lance causes an impact on Theron's arm when used and has on several occasions broken his arm upon use. Wind Cutter: Alya uses either her wings or her claws to create a number of wind blades that have rather devastating effect on flesh, but are of less use against armored targets. She can create up to eight blades using her claws and up to two when using her wings. The blades created by her claws have short effective range, but are very useful against groups of enemies. The blades created by her wings are faster and much larger with considerably longer effective range, the air currents in their wake are enough to redirect most projectiles. Mithril Feathers: Alya is capable of changing all of her feathers into the metallic substance that she and Theron have taken to calling mithril, a metal mentioned in old folk tales. This change increases Alya's weight to the point she is unable to fly though gliding is still possible. In mithril form she is exceedingly durable and her wings act as remarkably sharp blades, they are still capable for full range of movement and her speed is not really affected. Personality: Alya is a gentle soul despite her appearance and rather playful as well. If something threatens Theron however she will protect him fiercely giving no quarter. Appearance: Alya is considerably larger than common golden eagles, her wingspan reaching twelve feet. Her physical abilities also surpass those of her common brethren, making her one the deadliest birds of prey one can encounter. The feathers at the tip of Alya's wings are different from rest of her feathers (not shown in the picture), having the appearance of polished silver. These feathers are soft until shed, the shedding happens every other week. Once shed the feathers turn into durable metal that seems to be the same strength as steel. |

Name: Gilbert Woodgate Gender: Male Age: 26 Hometown/Current Location (If different): Maudington Faction: Scientist Conglomerate Weapon: A pair of double bladed machete like swords connected with a wire. Personality/Bio: Gilbert was born in unique circumstances. He is the son of a pair of Merchants Guild members who were visiting Maudington when his mother went into labor. After being born, his parents eventually decided to settle in the city. Like most of the youngsters, he was fascinated by the new technologies constantly coming out of the Science Conglomerate. Eventually by hard work and effort he was invited to join the Conglomerate. During a physical test it was discovered that his physical skills were amongst the finest of the candidates and even exceeded several current members. He was later informed that he had inherited his impressive combat skills from an estranged grandmother who is a senior member of The Guardian Society. His grandmother refuses to acknowledge his father as he choose to be a merchant rather then join her in fighting the Fire God. One day while passing through the laboratories of his associates, he heard a call in his mind directing him to a large cage. Inside he saw a snake as large as him staring back at him. The voice once again resounded in his head. It informed him that it was coming from the snake before him who started that he was Gilbert's guardian animal. Gilbert with permission from the Conglomerate who were exited at the new discovery released Horus who quickly bonded with his chosen. They are now a common sight around Maudington where the locals have finally gotten use to seeing a huge snake moving around openly. Recently they have been sent to Orton on a mission by the Conglomerate. Horus is best described as cool, calm and slightly apathetic. Like most of his fellow Conglomerate members he prefers to approach something from a scientific point of view. This unnerves those who are not used to him as he provides his opinions openly and regardless of tact. The only people who can make him lose his cool on a daily basis are Horus and his younger sister, Mavis. Appearance: Guardian Animal: Snake Name: Horus Gender: Male Abilities: a)Wild Growth - Horus is able to grow almost instantly to a massive size for large scale combat. He gains increased durability and power as well. b)Toxic Touch - Horus has a virulent poison that can melt through wood. c)Heart of the Swarm - He is able to summon smaller snakes to aid him in combat. If he is touching Gilbert then this ability is able to be used by Gilbert as well. d)Equivalence Principle - Horus is able to manipulate gravity to make a target heavier or lighter depending on his situation. Personality: Horus is utterly sarcastic and feel the need to comment on everything and anything he can (to the annoyance of Gilbert). He adores Gilbert's younger sister Mavis and teams up with her often to annoy the residents of Maudington and/or Gilbert himself. However despite this he is fiercely loyal to Gilbert and will devour any who dare to attack him. He is actually quite curious about other Guardian animals like himself and will be friendly unless provoked. Like his master he also has a scientific side. Appearance: |

Name: Caius Faust Gender: Male Age: 28 Hometown/Current Location: Clemence/Orton Faction: Merchants Guild Weapon: Broadsword, Hidden Daggers (has small daggers in various parts of his clothing, such as his shoes and inside his cloak). Personality/Bio: Caius is a traveling merchant who has been in business for the past 10 years. He studied the basics of economics in his early years and quickly built a small fortune for himself by being a very frugal man. He has a girlfriend in Clemence who is 7 years younger than he is. He has been with her for two years, but due to his occupation he has few chances to see her. She studies and operates a small shop in Clemence in the hope of being able to go with Caius in the near future during his business. Caius is a difficult person for strangers to read. If he cannot get an angle on a potential customer from observing them, he will instead wait for them to speak to him first so that he can base his approach on their approach. As a successful merchant he has picked up the ability to manipulate people in conversations to the benefit of his business, regardless of how cunning or well-informed they think they are. Despite the way he acts he is not a malicious or greedy person, although he tends to be more concerned with how things will impact him as opposed to others. Appearance: Guardian Animal: Arctic Wolf Name: Anyu Gender: Male Abilities: - Ice Shroud: Creates a coating of hard ice around Anyu, protecting him from attacks. The coating acts as armor covering his body and head, but he normally leaves his legs and neck exposed in order to continuing moving. In cases where he does not need to move, he will encase his entire body. - Great White North: Creates an invisible dome over the surrounding area which dramatically reduces the temperature and produces whiteout conditions. The whiteout conditions only last for a few minutes, while the reduced temperature will remain for longer. The weather conditions are limited strictly within the range of the dome. The blinding snow makes Anyu more difficult to track due to his white fur combined with reduced visibility. - Icy Howl: Anyu's howl produces a barrage of small icicles from his mouth which tear at his opponent. - Undecided Personality: Appearance: -Minor Character- Name: Luna Age: 21 Gender: Female Appearance: Details: Caius' girlfriend who runs his main store in Clemence. |

Thanks to everyone who joined so far! As a heads up you don't have to have your character meet their Guardian Animal prior to the RP, they could meet it during the RP as well if you want. Either way is fine. @ Jon- No problem, I'll go ahead and reserve a spot for you! @ Roxas- You profile looks good except for Horus's Toxic Touch ability. It's more so the animals who should have the ability rather than the humans (Or if you want the humans to be the ones to exert the ability then I'll allow that, but they would have to be touching the animal to do so or else the ability will not work). Instead you could have it so Horus just spits the acid directly onto his opponents, and can poison them if they have some sort of open wound? Just a thought, but either way I'd like you to change this ability. Also, not sure if this is the case with your character since you didn't specify it in your bio, but having a Guardian Animal isn't something that's genetic/hereditary. So even if Gilbert's grandmother had one and was a part of the Guardian Society, that doesn't mean for sure that her son would have one (Which meant that Gilbert's father wouldn't be able to join the Guardian Society and fight against the Fire God). I was thinking that roughly 30% to 40% of the population would have Guardian Animals, so there's a little more than a 1 in 3 chance of whether someone has a Guardian Animal or not (I'll add this to the RP notes now as well). |

Alright, I just need to get one more ability thought up and then do Anyu's personality thing and I'll be finished with the profile. @Toyumi - You're free to read over what I've got so far and let me know what changes should be made. I'll let you know when I have the last ability done. |

@ Jon- Your profile looks good! Sorry for not replying sooner, I've been busy with finals up until recently. And also you don't have to have 4 abilities at the start of the RP, you can just start out with 3 and add the fourth later if you want. @ All- I think it's about time we start this RP! I'm leaving the casting open so others can come in and join at their leisure up until all 6 slots are taken. I hope you have some fun with this and that the RP is mildly successful, or at least entertaining! [Aria - Outside of Orton] Walking on a path with no clear direction in sight. That was the best phrase Aria could use to describe her situation, in more ways than one. The road she was on, one of the few roads that led to Orton, was a narrow and rough road that went straight through Emdals Grove, and even though she had been walking in the grove for awhile now, she still couldn't see the end of the palm trees in sight. She couldn't see her hometown anymore either as she turned around from time to time, although she still did so anyway. Everything will turn out fine in the end, Sol spoke after he noticed that Aria was turning around often, So try to stop worrying. Many people leave their homes to travel and such nowadays as well, so you're not the first one. Even though the conditions of your leaving were a bit more.. Dire. "It will turn out 'fine?'" Aria asked, "Are you sure about that? Granted, I can't think of how it could get much worse, but I also can't think of how it could get much better." Aria paused and sighed, trying to calm down. "Although, I hope things do get better," Aria said, "I would like to return once Orton makes a recovery. After all, my parents won't let me return until things do in fact get better." "It's ironic, isn't it?" Aria asked, "Once they tried to keep me in Orton as much as possible, and now they want me to keep my distance from the place." It's for your own safety, Sol said, Please try to understand. The lion was trying not to say anything that would anger Aria more than she already was, preferring to let her calm down first before speaking with her over the matter. "Sure, my safety." Aria said, although the more she thought back to the incident, the more she realized that Sol was right. [Aria - Orton - Earlier in the Day] After Aria got ready for the day, she came downstairs with Sol to find her parents sitting at the table in their kitchen together with a backpack at the center of the table. To Aria this was certainly an odd sight, normally her parents were busy getting ready to leave Orton to make deliveries, or at least helping her aunt and uncle with their store, which was next door to their house. "Hey Mom, Dad." Aria said, trying not to assume anything just yet. However, her suspicions were soon confirmed as her mother beckoned her to the table, where Aria sat down in between her parents. "Aria, sweetie," Aria's Mom said, "We've all been thinking, your father and I as well as your aunt and uncle, and we think that... You should leave Orton." "What?" Aria asked, void of emotion since she still didn't understand what was going on. "Let me explain-" Aria's father began, although he began to have a violent coughing fit. When he was done, Aria's mother spoke up on his behalf. "The flu has been getting worse," Aria's mother said, "See, your own father is proof of it. He was fine until a week ago, when this coughing began. Now he can't eat anything without vomiting it back up, or complete a sentence without having a coughing fit. And that's only the beginning... You know the condition that your Aunt is in at the moment..." Aria's Aunt was in bed rest due to the flu, unable to do anything but sleep and eat once a day. Her uncle thankfully wasn't as in as bad of shape as her Aunt was, having a condition that was similar to that of her Father's, but the only one left relatively unscathed by the flu was her Mother and Aria herself. "So what does that have to do with me leaving Orton?" Aria asked. "It has to do with keeping you safe from the flu," her Mother said, "Aria, I know there probably are other dangers and even other flus elsewhere, but we think that if you keep moving you'll be safe. You have Solaris at your side to protect you from any physical dangers, your father and I trust that he is more than capable of protecting you." "But what if I don't want to leave?" Aria asked, "Orton is my home, I grew up here and I'm content with staying here for the rest of my life too! I don't want to leave Orton, and I don't want to leave you either." "It's for your own good Aria," Aria's father said, followed by short coughing fit, "Try to understand." "At the very least you could at least travel to Clemence and see if they have a cure or if their doctors could provide any assistance," Aria's mother insisted, "Orton's short supply of doctors can't handle this flu by themselves, especially after their office was destroyed in that strange storm the other day. Around three fourths of the town has already been affected by the flu, and it's only a matter of time before more fall victim." Aria said nothing, she knew that the pressures of her leaving couldn't be fought with her will to staying in Orton. "If nothing else, do it for us, Aria," Aria's mother said, "The town is starting to run short on supplies ever since the word got out that we have the flu. Some suppliers and deliverers are frequenting Orton less, and it's been harder for your father and I to travel and get supplies since your uncle needs help with the store. Please Aria, we want you to." Aria couldn't resist the near-desperate plea from her mother, and reluctantly caved in and agreed to leave Orton. She took another hour to pack some personal things in addition to the bag that her parents had prepared her, and after saying good bye to her relatives she rode Sol out of her hometown. [Aria - Crossroads] Aria had been thinking about her situation and remained in silence for quite some time. It wasn't until she came to a crossroads in the road that Aria realized she was finally out of Emdals Grove. One of the crossroads led to Vanguand to the south, Cranes to the west, and Clemence to the east. "I know we have to make it to Clemence," Aria said, "But do you want to stop here to rest for a bit? There's a nice field that we can rest in over there, and it's open too so we can see if anyone or anything is approaching us." Sol simply nodded in agreement, and walked over to a point in the field further off from the roads around it and sat down, allowing Aria to get off of him and eat. She knew that the food that was packed for her wasn't enough for the lion, so after noticing that no one was around them for some time Sol carefully wandered away from Aria, making sure to keep an eye on her while he began to hunt for smaller game that was hidden in the field. After he caught and killed three decent-sized groundhogs, he returned to Aria's side and began to eat his own small meal. |

[Gilbert][En-Route to Orton] "I spy with my little eye....something green!" "Tree" "I spy...something thick" "Tree." "I spy..." And so on and on went the words until one of the two was sure he was going to throttle his companion if he heard those words again. He tried to remember again why exactly he was wasting his time here. [Flashback] "You want me to do WHAT?" Several of the people in the room winced as they heard the near silent hiss of their fellow conglomerate member. "Look Gilbert, we received a request to pick up some blueprints from one of our splinter branches over in Clemence. That's why we're asking you to go and help to pick them up for us." Gilbert Woodgate: "And once again, I ask what this has to do with me exactly?" One of the older men sighed and gave the younger man a baleful stare, "The fact of the matter is that you are probably the most combat oriented members we have. We need those blueprints and you are the best man to ensure they get here in one piece." Gilbert sighed, "How..." [Flashback End] "... troublesome." Horus: "Your thinking about them again eh? You shouldn't you know... you'll get more wrinkles that way." A tick mark appeared over Gilbert's eye as he walked on stoically with Horus slithering in his wake while mentally heckling him. 'One of these days...I'm going to turn him into a pair of boots...'thought Gilbert darkly. He consulted his map and checked that they were close to Orton if he was not mistaken. There was a crossroads coming up and from there. Remember his geography, Clemence was further to the east and he needed to head that way. Based on his map, at the crossroads he needed to keep moving straight in order to move eastwards. Eventually after another hour with him being at the end of his rope from Horus, they spotted the crossroads with the signs pointing in different directions. "Gilbert. Hold fast. Look to the left." Gilbert nearly tripped as he heard his old friend's seriousness. The blasted snake was never serious unless it was important. He kept both of his hands on his sword's handles for a quick draw of necessary. Following his friend's advise, he turned to see a young woman and what looked to be... He blinked at the sight before speaking to Horus, "Are my eyes playing tricks on me or is that a lion as big as two carts?" Horus: "You aren't wrong. There is something...different about that lion." Gilbert pondered this. The massive lion was watching them balefully next to its female companion. The scientist in him screamed to at least take a close look. He walked slowly and calmly towards them as they were eating with a curious look. He waited until he had their attention while Horus was next to him easily taller than him as he was ready for any possible problems. Gilbert: "Good pastnoon, stranger. I know that I might seem strange to you, but can I ask you something about your companion there *nods to the lion*?" |

[Caius - Outside Orton] Caius and Anyu had left Orton a short time ago, reluctantly having to leave in order to avoid exposure to the sickness that seemed to be going around the town. Caius had handled business mostly by use of Anyu to enforce the transactions. Caius kept his distance from his wares and informed customers of the prices after which they would deposit the correct amount of money into the bag and take the item while Anyu watched on and made sure that nothing fishy happened. Although Caius had managed to offload most of his merchandise, he saw it as a missed opportunity. "That could have gone so much better. If I only had the mind to bring some extra medicine from the shop in Clemence. Even some medicinal herbs would have served to make me quite a bit extra." Anyu walked alongside Caius, eyeing the surrounding area mostly out of habit. ['I thought it went quite well. There is no sense in considering 'what-if' scenarios, so all you can do is focus on how to make the best of the situation you are given. In that respect, I believe the trip was a success.'] Caius stayed silent for a second to collect himself, knowing that Anyu was right. At the very least he had managed to make above his usual profit. The people in Orton were willing to buy essentially every bit of merchandise that could prove useful. All he had left at this point were trinkets such as jewelry, as well as a small bit of medicine that he would be willing to part with now that he was out of Orton and not at risk of catching the flu from the townspeople. "I know. I am not saying I did poorly, just that I could have done better. Nonetheless, I will chalk it up as a learning experience and put it behind me for the time being. Now then, we will need to return to the store in Clemence to restock on merchandise. Due to the situation in Orton I was not able to acquire anything to sell elsewhere, so we will need to make a second attempt at starting this run." [Caius - Crossroads] ['A question Caius. I don't believe you explained to me what you plan to do with the money you received. How do you plan to count it or spend it when it is likely covered in germs?'] Caius shook the bag with the money in it a little and gave it a quick glance. "I plan to boil it in water for a while to try and sterilize it, then use it to pay our suppliers. They will move it out of Clemence, so that should reduce the chances of any Orton situation happening in Clemence as a result of my actions. I will likely burn the bag, just to be sure. I have a plan in mind, of that you can be sure. Anyway, what say we stop for a moment? We can rest here and with any luck we will run into some passersby that will be in the market for some jewelry." |

[Theron - Fields] Theron had been laying down on a field outside Orton watching Alya flying around. He still found her a majestic sight as she flew through the skies. After about half an hour she came down landing next to him. "Did you spot anything interesting?" Theron turned to look Alya who had started preening herself. "Yes actually, there was a man with a wolf not too far away." "A wolf?" Theron rose to a sitting position. "Yes, they seemed to be getting along well with eachother." She folded her wings and hopped closer to Theron. Theron reached to pet Alya. "I'm curious now, you want a ride ot will you be flying?" He said getting up letting Alya climb on his forearm. She responded by spreading her wings and taking flight heading to the direction she had seen the odd pair in. Theron picked up his spear and looked after Alya before heading that way himself, he noticed he was going towards the wind which should keep the wolf from noticing him, at least until he got within earshot. [Theron - Crossroads] After quarter of an hour he spotted the pair ahead. When he deemed he was close enough he stopped and lifted his voice. "Hello there!" He was staying reasonable distance away and had displayed the mark of the Pathfinders on his chest for now, hoping it would make the meeting go more smoothly. Alya was circling overhead ready to swoop down if needed. |

[Caius - Crossroads] Caius had spread out his remaining merchandise across a small blanket he carried along for display purposes. He sat with his back to a signpost and was writing something in a notebook. Meanwhile, Anyu was curled up just beside the blanket, taking the opportunity to get in a short nap. "I've had this one for quite some time now. Maybe I have the price set a little too high on it. I suppose I can lower the impulse price by 40 and the goal by 20. If I still have it next week then I can go another 20 lower on the goal while still making profit." As Caius finished making notes regarding his inventory, someone approached from the roads and called to him. Caius returned the greeting as he watched the person approach him. Caius was smiling as he spread his arms to draw attention to his small shop, but was sizing the potential customer up in his mind. 'Traveler, alone, doesn't appear to be carrying much, likely doesn't have much expendable income judging by age and attire. Open with the silver bracelet, move down to the pendants if he can't swing that and save the medicine for a closer.' Anyu had woken up and was watching the stranger carefully. He rose up to a seated stance and remained relaxed for now since Caius did not appear concerned. "Based on your appearance and greeting, I would peg you as a man who is looking to keep things simple. Why not slow down and have a look at what I have? You may find just the thing you are looking for to complete that look you are going for." |

OOC @ Roxas- Sorry to bother you about your ability again, but could you clarify a bit more on your revised Toxic Touch ability? Melting steel seems like it would be too much, if it could melt steel then it could certainly melt skin and many other substances unless you clarify that the ability doesn't work as well on other substances for whatever reason, or you could tone down the ability a bit. [Aria - Crossroads] As Aria finished eating and was looking about the field as Sol continued to eat, she noticed that someone was approaching her, along with something else that Aria couldn't figure out what it was. "Sol, do you see them?" Aria asked quietly as she turned to Sol. Yes, Sol said, I'm watching them for any sudden movements. Confident that Sol had her back, Aria turned back to the man and his companion as they started to approach her. By the time the man and his companion, which Aria could clearly see was a snake, were near her, Sol had finished eating and stood up behind Aria. "Good pastnoon, stranger." the man said, "I know that I might seem strange to you, but can I ask you something about your companion there?" The man nodded towards Sol as he finished his sentence and seemed amiable enough. Since he didn't seem too suspicious, Aria smiled slightly as she responded, however she still spoke on the side of caution. "Sure, go ahead." Aria responded. As she looked towards the man, she saw that beyond him a number of people were on the crossroads. There were two people chatting at the crossroads, one which had what looked like a large dog, or at least a dog-like animal. Meanwhile, there was another group who was approaching the crossroads from the south, a group of three men who were dressed in black and carrying large bags. She watched both groups from the distance, and only a few seconds had passed until the group of men began to charge at the two men at the crossroads. "Oh no," Aria said. She walked past the man and his snake but quickly broke out into a run towards the crossroads. "Bandits!" Aria shouted at the two men, "Hey, lookout!" Sol also ran towards the crossroads, although like Aria he was still a considerable distance away from them, and certainly not close enough to stop the bandits from charging the two men at the crossroads. |

[Theron - Crossroads] "Well, I wasn't thinking of bying anything, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to..." He was interrupted by a shout from a distance. "Bandits! Hey, lookout!" Theron turned to see who was shouting then turned to see the men charging towards him. He undid the straps of his backpack with practised movements grabbing his spear from his back and taking a practised stance the tip of his spear pointing at the ground. He let out a high-pitched whistle and nodded his head to the left while taking a step to the left himself. He telegraphed a straight-forward stab at the leftmost bandit, who brought his weapon to deflect the stab, but was interrupted as Alya dove at him her claws rending his face causing him to fall on the ground clutching his face. Theron switched the position of his hands turning the stab into a wide slash burying the blade of his spear into the neck of the middle bandit. He then pulled back leaving a wide berth to the third bandit while Alya rose back into the air. Theron was holding his spear close to his body in a defensive stance, ready to react. |

[Caius - Crossroads] The man didn't seem intent on buying anything at first, but his interest in taking a look meant that Caius at least had him hooked enough to make a few pitches. Before he could even start however, a girl shouted out something about bandits approaching the pair. Caius looked first to the girl approaching them while Anyu scanned for the alleged bandits. Caius could see the girl running towards them with another man a short distance behind her. They both appeared to have animals like his, a lion and a snake or lizard of some sort. Anyu had meanwhile spotted the bandits in question as the man that Caius had tried to flag down immediately charged to meet them. When Caius looked back to see what was going on, he quickly rolled up his merchandise and shifted back to a safer area just behind the signpost. "Wonderful. Just when I was about to conduct business, I get interrupted by a bunch of thieves. Well, that's how life is I guess." He continued to watch as the other two strangers rushed in to seemingly join the fight, but did not do anything more than that. 'Anyway, better to let these people sort things out. I'm a man of business, not a man of war. I get enough bandit fighting on my plate just in my day to day travels.' |

[Aria - Crossroads] By the time Solaris had caught up to the scene, one of the men at the crossroads had taken care of two of the bandits. Aria was still behind him a ways, but regardless she gave Sol the go ahead to attack the remaining bandit. He pounced upon the final bandit and knocked the bandit over on his head, rendering the bandit unconscious. However, Sol did get a small cut on his leg from the bandit as the bandit tried unsuccessfully to ward Sol off with his dagger. "Are you all okay?" Aria asked the two men who were originally at the crossroads, "Sorry about the sudden warning, but it's better to have little warning then to be completely ambushed by bandits, right? Sadly, I know how that is..." Aria then looked from the two men to Sol and noticed the cut he had gotten. It wasn't bleeding too much, but it still worried Aria. "You're hurt," Aria said as she inspected the wound, "Here, let me fix this up a bit." "I can manage without supplies, Aria," Sol said, "Medical supplies are especially expensive at this time, you need to keep this in mind now that you don't have your relatives to help you." "I know I don't have them," Aria said as she took out a small jar with a gel-like substance in it, "But instead I have you, and I need you to help me. Now come on, a little medicine to keep away infections wouldn't hurt." Aria took a little bit of the medicine in the jar and applied it to Sol's wound, and took some of Sol's advice and did not cover it with a bandage in order to save supplies. Unbeknownst to Aria since she was concentrating on treating Sol's wound, a deer had approached the group in the direction that the bandits had come from. The deer looked and sniffed at the bandits, and stomped its foot on the ground. This apparently some sort of signal to it's counterpart, a young woman who was running down the path, still a distance away from the group. "Great job for finding them!" the woman shouted as she approached the group. At this Aria stood up, and watched as the woman eventually caught up with the group. The woman nearly fell over when she tried to stop, visibly out of breath. "You... Did they... Trouble you?" the woman asked, pointing to the bandits as she tried to catch her breath. "They tried to attack us, but I think we handled it." Aria said. The woman took some time responding now since she was still having trouble breathing. "Thank goodness," the woman said, "Sorry I... They got away from me in Vanguand... They came from Compton actually... Been making a bit of a mess wherever they go..." "Did you run all the way from Vanguand?" Aria asked. "Yes," The woman said with a smile, "I'm no stranger to running with my deer, but... That was certainly one of the longer distances that I've had to run." "I'll take care of these bandits for you," the woman said, "I'm a part of the Guardian Society, so I'll just take them back to Vanguand and throw them in jail. I've heard that the increase in dangerous activity around here is due to... Well, something regarding the Fire God who started this whole mess. I'm not so high up in the Guardian Society totem pole, so I'm not sure of the details. Just be sure to take care of yourselves in your travels." After tying up the bandits and taking away their weapons and baggage, the woman from the Guardian Society bid her adieu and headed back to Vanguand with her deer. As the woman walked away, Aria turned to the other four who had gathered at the crossroads. "Well, uh, you heard the woman." Aria said, "It's dangerous to travel alone, and it would probably make more sense if we traveled together to our destinations. I'm just headed to Clemence for now, which isn't too far from here. We should be able to get there by the end of the day." "Oh, I'm sorry, I never introduced myself." Aria said, "I'm Aria, and my partner here is Solaris, although I just call him Sol. I just came from Orton, and if any of you were headed there I recommend that you make a change of plans. A flu is running rampant through the town, I left there to see if I could get any help from Clemence since the Orton doctors are low on manpower and supplies to fight this flu." "Anyway, are any of you headed towards Clemence?" Aria asked, not wanting to impose on the group of strangers. |

[Caius - Crossroads] As expected, the other people who were present took care of the bandits on their own. Caius remained at a safe distance until everything was over, then proceeded to make himself part of the situation. The girl that had warned them was tending to her guardian animal after having made sure everyone was alright. Caius had hoped that she would require medicine or supplies for treating the cut, but was slightly disappointed when she revealed her own. Another woman quickly joined the group, appearing out of breath from her run. The two talked to each other for a brief moment before parting ways. The woman had advised them against traveling alone, a piece of advice that the younger girl had taken immediately to heart, before leaving to head back to her own town. 'Sometimes the world just hands you opportunities on a silver platter.' The girl that had warned them about the bandits asked if anyone else among the group had planned to head towards Clemence. She also introduced herself as Aria and her partner as Sol. Caius was the first to respond in kind, secretly overjoyed to have the opportunity to travel in a group all the way back to Clemence. Not only would he get an extended period of time to sell his wares, he would also be safer while traveling back to his home. "It's a pleasure to meet you Aria. I am Caius Faust, member of the Merchants Guild and the main guy to speak to if you need anything. That's Anyu, my partner." The wolf did not seem to react much to the simplified introduction that Caius gave him. He simply yawned slightly as a form of acknowledgement to the statement while Caius continued. "As an answer to your question, I am indeed heading towards Clemence. I need to return to my home and gorgeous love of my life to gather a few more products. I suggest that if anyone here is in need of supplies for further adventures, then you should accompany me even after reaching Clemence." |

[Theron - Crossroads] Theron listened as the two introduced themselves as he cleaned the blood off his spear, after he was satisfied he put it back on his back and picked up his backpack. After getting back on he turned to face the two. "Nice to meet you both. I'm Theron Sylvanus Aquila, member of the Sylvanus Pathfinders, at your service." He smiled at them as Alya landed on his shoulder. He reached out to scratch her head. "And this is my friend and partner, Alya." Alya let out a short cry, then bowed slightly, before starting to preen her wings. "And I didn't really have any particular destination in mind, but I think I will accompany you two to Clemence, more the merrier as they say." He turned to look at the sun and squinted his eyes. "We should be able to make a good progress today, if we leave now, do you want to use the roads or cross straight through the wilderness?" He turned back to the others waiting for their answer, ready to lead them to Clemence whatever route they would choose. |

[Aria - Crossroads] "It's a pleasure to meet you Aria. I am Caius Faust," Caius said, "Member of the Merchants Guild and the main guy to speak to if you need anything. That's Anyu, my partner." Aria looked towards Anyu, but the wolf hardly expressed any sort of emotion. "As an answer to your question," Caius continued, "I am indeed heading towards Clemence. I need to return to my home and gorgeous love of my life to gather a few more products. I suggest that if anyone here is in need of supplies for further adventures, then you should accompany me even after reaching Clemence." "If I do need to go farther than Clemence then I certainly would like to accompany you." Aria said with a smile. She then noticed that the other man who had helped fight off the bandits had put away the spear he was cleaning until now, and faced the rest of the makeshift group. "Nice to meet you both. I'm Theron Sylvanus Aquila, member of the Sylvanus Pathfinders, at your service." Theron said as he scratched an eagle that landed on his shoulder, "And this is my friend and partner, Alya." Unlike Anyu, Alya let out a cry and bowed towards the group. "And I didn't really have any particular destination in mind," Theron said, "But I think I will accompany you two to Clemence, more the merrier as they say. We should be able to make a good progress today, if we leave now, do you want to use the roads or cross straight through the wilderness?" "W-wilderness?" Aria said, "I only left Orton today, and all the past experiences I've had with traveling has been on roads, so I'm more familiar with roads if you don't mind... The route to Celmence is pretty straightforward from here anyway, so I don't think going through the wilderness in this particular instance would save us that much time. Plus between the four of us, I think that we'll be able to get through any danger that we might run across traveling on the roads." "Well, it would be four of us if you decide to join us as well," Aria said as she turned to the man who had first approached her and his snake, "If you do, then I would be more than happy to answer whatever questions you originally had for me as we travel." After the man's decision, Aria and the others who had decided to join her set off east towards Clemence. |

[Gilbert Woodgate - Crossroads] In the middle of his conversation with the young girl, Horus alerted him to the presence of two others. Watching them out of the corner of his eyes, he listened to the girl with half an ear, "Bandits! Hey, lookout!" The girl had shouted a warning to the two men before rushing and working with one of them to dispose of said bandits. The second man hung back and watched. As one of the bandits tried to escape, Horus quickly bit him on the leg before darting back lightning fast. Gilbert let the man limp off. He would be dead in a few minutes anyway. Eventually they secured the ramaining bandits and the girl began to tend to a minor wound on her lion partner. Horus slithered close by and looked on in concern. It was then Gilbert noticed that the others had animals with them as well. 'A coincidence...or something else?' Soon a woman and her deer partner joined them and offered to take the bandits back to jail. She left them with a warning that seemed to unnerve the girl that the routes might be dangerous. "Well, uh, you heard the woman." Aria said, "It's dangerous to travel alone, and it would probably make more sense if we traveled together to our destinations. Gilbert had a quick mental conversation with Horus who gave his assent. He nodded towards them and spoke, "I was originally heading to Clemence myself. My name is Gilbert Woodgate of the Scientist Conglomerate and this gigantic worm is Horus." Horus seemed to bristle at being refereed to as a mere worm and let him know mentally with several choice words. The snake raised itself to its full height and seemed to give a bow to them. Gilbert: "I would be honored to accompany you all to Clemence. I was on my way there to pack up a package for some people in Maudington. As for method of travel I would honestly refer the roads. I am in agreement with Ms. Aria that there would not be much problems for 4 of us on the roads." |

[Aria - Crossroads] With the last man in agreement, who introduced himself as Gilbert and his snake partner as Horus, the group began to make their way along the roads towards Clemence. There wsn't much talk as they focused on traveling, that and they were all relatively strangers to one another. Aria warmed up and tried to make some small talk, but it was generally unsuccessful. "You're distracted." Sol said. The pair was towards the back of the group as they traveled, but Aria still kept her voice low as she spoke with Sol. "What do you mean?" Aria asked. "You're thinking about something else," Sol said, "Like the bandit incident, or more specifically, that woman from the Guardian Society, aren't you?" "How did you know?" Aria asked, a bit flustered. "I've been with you long enough to pick up on these things," Sol said, "Just like you've been with me long enough to be comfortable with me and pick up on any of my cues. Anyway, what do you think? What has you so hung up on the incident and that woman?" "She was kind of cool," Aria said, "And she intelligent. She knew stuff that we didn't know, and probably wouldn't know unless we ran into her." "And your point with that is you want to join the Guardian Society?" Sol asked. "Maybe," Aria said, "I'm certainly thinking about it. Plus I might be able to get some help to Orton faster if I do..." "You wouldn't be just a nobody asking for help." Sol said bluntly, but Aria agreed with his statement. "Exactly." Aria said. Aria's conversation with Sol ended there, and he didn't bring it up again for the rest of the trip. The group stopped once to eat and take a bit of a break, but true to what Aria thought, they were able to see Clemence in the distance as nighttime approached. The group did not run into any further trouble; however, they did pass many people on their way to Clemence. "I've never seen so many people on the roads around here," Aria commented, "Granted, it's been a few years since I last traveled to Clemence, and it is a large city, but still..." When the group approached the city's lines, they found out why there were so many people. There were signs along the road, facing both towards the city and away from it to give warning to both those entering and exiting the city. "Roads east of Clemence closed," Aria read aloud, "Extreme flooding in Goldcrest." Aria paused, then looked towards the group. "That's why so many people were on the road" Aria said, "No one can travel to the east." "Well, that shouldn't bother us, right?" Aria asked, "We're only stopping here, not going farther. And since we all made it here in one piece, I guess this where we can part ways if need be. I doubt the medical clinics or wherever else I may end up going would be open to hearing my request at this hour, so I'll just be looking for a place that will allow me to stay the night with Sol." Despite her suggestion to part ways, Aria lingered with the group, waiting to see if any of the others had similar plans. She knew the merchant, Caius, had a home to go to, but she hoped that one of the others might be in the same situation as her. Despite having Sol with her, Aria didn't quite feel like wandering around the city at night, especially if she happened to wander into a more dangerous part of the city. |
