...hello, I'm still here...

:t e a r s . t o . r o s e s:

...all that's left of yesterday....

-----------------------------------------------------------------

"Suddenly, I Know I'm Not Sleeping."

There was a rumble that shook the forest like an electric shockwave, sending clouds of birds out of the trees and every animal running. Trayla's eyes fluttered open at a crash akin to thunder, and was able to move just in time to avoid being flattened by one of the more obscure creatures of the Vanaheim Forest. The young forest girl peeked out from behind a large tree, studying the creature as it bulldozed through the thick underbrush. Normally a calm creature, the Aural was not easily frightened from its nesting and feeding grounds in the south side of the forest. Whatever that shockwave that had sent the Vanaheim into a frenzy, it was dangerous. Trayla could tell just by the reaction of the entire wood... and it unsettled her.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

..s u m m a r y..

Strange shockwaves have been hitting the land of Testra, particularly in the darker, unexplored regions such as the Vanaheim Forest. Something is growing, something the Overlord calls the Darkwave; and it's not just a rumor that it's out for the death of the Testran people, using disease, famine, drought, and fire as its weapons. But why?

Legend has it that several hundred years ago, the Darkwave was supressed by the Testran people; particularily those people of the Vanaheim Forest, who are rumoured to have all died in the process. However, a very small line of them survived, and left only two in their wake.

    [Seventeen]
    [Female]
[Curious about the outside word, intelligent, energetic, optomistic. It's hard to get her down.]

[Born and raised in the Vanaheim forest, she and her best friend are the last Vanaheimians left, as both their sets of parents died of various causes almost eight years ago; her father was lost in a hunt when he was attacked by a creature known to have a violent streak, the Karien. Her mother was lost to a disease that the Vanaheimians called 'Black Death' for the strange bruise-like markings that appear all over the body.
The shockwaves began not too long ago, like a pulse in the earth. They have been disrupting the forest for about a month, killing the life little by little as it grows stronger off the ancient power sealed within the core of the Vanaheim.]

[Very well versed in forest life and the behaviour thereof, as well as different herbs and plants, and their properties. Her skills include hunting, gathering, building fires and shelters, cooking, and some hand-to-hand combat. She plays the ocarina well.]

    [Stubborn, level-headed, aloof, distant.]

[Born and raised in the city of Virdene, just south of the Vanaheim Forest, he grew up knowing that one day he would take over his father's position of First Captain of the Virdenian Raiders, and would assist the Lord Vaan Tirstone in all military decisions. When the subject of the Darkwave came up, Aurum suggested that they flatten all surrounding sites known to contain high concentrations of pure energy, so that the Darkwave would have nothing to feed off of. With no other ideas, Lord Tirstone agreed with this, and the plan was put into action. Captain Aurum Maine was to lead some of the city's most skilled into the Vanaheim to scout the highest concentration of pure energy, so they may not have to destroy the whole forest.]

[His top skills are horseback riding, swordplay, and commanding his Raiders. He is also well versed in several languages, and is extremely good at strategy games. His scouting, recon, and tracking abilities are all honed within an inch of his own sanity — he has been trained to be a great captain since birth.]

    I have few questions:

-What kind of RP is this? Fantasy or closer to reality (I notice your character has abilities such as hunting as opposed to superhuman abilities like being able to run fast.)?

-Are there monsters in this RP? Do or should our characters have weapons?

-What will our characters be trying to do at the start of the RP? Investigating the forest?

[[@Jon: This is kind of a mix of fantasy and reality: the monsters and creatures of fantasy (think... Princess Mononoke), most humans don't have powers. Those who do are most likely descended from an ancient magical line from another land. Yeah, all things that weren't mentioned but most likely should have been....

Yes, there are definitely monsters! Weapons ARE necessary, but do not need to be specified.

In the beginning, the Raiders will be invesigating the Vanaheim Forest. Of course, we can't begin until we have Trayla's friend that lives in the forest, either.

    I hope that helps!]]

    [Name] Rolf
    [Nickname] N/A
    [Age] 19
    [Gender] Male
[Personality] Aloof-seeming, but in fact very helpful. He is very logical, and is always experimenting with different things to create new things or find a new application for it.
[Bio] He was also born and raised in the Vanaheim forest. He is one of only two survivors. His mother was killed by a rampaging dire boar, and his father died shortly after killing it when a monkey strangled him from behind.
[Special Talents/Abilities/Skills/Attributes] Hunting, Herb Mixing for Various Effects (this translates into poison and salves alike), Reading People.
[Appearance] Black hair, pale skin, although it has darkened from his time in the wilderness. He dresses for practicality first, fashion and comfort never. This means leathers and animal hides. He's fairly buff, but not exactly a muscleman.

Incidentally, is this RP set in the same universe as your previous RP, Butterfly?

There are two things I can't stand in this world - people who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch.

Ah Mononoke, the 1st ever anime movie I watched. How nostalgic...
    ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

    Name: Ichigo Kurosaki
    Nickname: Ichi-nii
    Age: 18
    Gender: Male

Personality: Stubborn, short-tempered, strong-willed and impulsive, he attempts to maintain a detached and "cool" image, despite claiming not to care about what other people think about him. He generally keeps his face set in a permanent scowl, with his eyebrows drawn together. His outspoken, hot-headed demeanor is a trait Ichigo himself acknowledged, and that if somebody picks a fight with him, he cannot help fighting back. He is shown to be genuinely compassionate and empathetic about others. Ichigo has some trouble with authority and traditional respect, often quite rude and disrespectful when talking to those older than himself. When it comes to fighting, Ichigo has a complex sense of honor; he regularly seeks to exact revenge for the actions of his opponent, such as instilling the fear of being murdered.

Bio: Ichigo was born on July 15 and was also cursed on that same day. The day he was born, a powerful demon was destroying his village. The elder of the village sacrificed himself to seal it into him. As a result, Ichigo was shunted by everyone in the village who looked at him as the monster in human form. His parents were also given similar treatment and as a result they unconsciously treated him the same. They even warned they two daughters (his younger sisters) to stay away from him. Eventually seeing the suffering that he brought upon his family, Ichigo ran away when he was 9. Three months later, he met a sage named Jiraiya who helped him in controlling the demon within him.

The people of his village had the special ability to used weapons formed from the essence of their souls called Zanpakuto. Each one is as unique as their owner. Initially they appear in the form of swords but can be released to their true form. There is a further stage called the Bankai (Final Release) that is only achieved by selected individuals. Under Jiraiya's tutelage, Ichigo not only unlocked his Shikai (Initial Release) but his Bankai as well.

Ichigo and his mentor were in the town of Vindice when they felt the tremors and heard about the Darkwave. They decided to investigate this matter...

    Special Talents/Abilities/Skills/Attributes:
(i)Zangetsu (Slaying Moon) - His Zanpakuto which constantly remains in its released state due to his unmanageable power.

(ii)Bankai:Tensa Zangetsu (Heaven Chains Slaying the Moon) - The blade itself can endure even the strongest of attacks, making it quite effective in blocking and deflecting incoming attacks; it can even withstand getting crushed by force. Tensa Zangetsu retains the use of Getsuga Tenshō and can be used in the same manners, but can be used in an enhanced form. When used in Bankai, these potent blasts are black with a red outline and their path can be controlled, with explosively augmented power and speed. Ichigo takes all the power of his Bankai and compresses it into a small, condensed form. Then, he uses the power of the Bankai to perform high-speed combat. His new speed is so great, that it also enhances his Flash Step prowess and allows him to create dozens of afterimages to confuse his opponent. Ichigo's Bankai also allows him to further enhance his natural great strength. Furthermore, the fact that all of his energy is "compressed" means that usage of his Bankai doesn't expel as much spiritual power as other Bankai from the point of activation; thus allowing him to use Tensa Zangetsu at a much longer duration than any other Bankai users of his level.

(iii)Getsuga Tenshō (Moon Fang Heaven-Piercer) - At the instant of the slash, Zangetsu absorbs his spiritual energy and releases highly condensed spiritual energy at the tip of the blade, magnifying the slash attack and then flies forward. This slash takes the form of a crescent moon or in the shape of a wave. The Getsuga Tenshō is a powerful technique with great force, capable of causing large-scale damage and destruction. While it is currently the only attack Ichigo knows from Zangetsu, Ichigo has used this technique in several different manners, such as striking the ground to create an omnidirectional blast to knock away incoming attacks or slashing at the ground to upturn it and crush everything in its path.

(iv)Hollow Mask - The Hollow mask was originally a sign of Ichigo's possession by the Hollow within him, but after his training with Jiraiya, it has become an indication that he is merely utilizing his Hollow powers. To access Hollow Ichigo's power, Ichigo must summon the mask onto his face, which is normally done by placing one of his hands over his face and concentrating spiritual matter on it in order to manifest the mask (previously it had appeared on its own before he mastered the Hollow within him), summoning the mask in a "ripping" fashion. While wearing the mask, Ichigo's Hollow powers supplement his powers, giving him a vast increase in both strength and speed. The explanation for this is that since Hollows boost their natural abilities by obtaining spiritual power around them, either by absorbing it in its ambient form or devouring it directly from another living being, Ichigo attains power from two separate sources: that from himself (drawn using his powers), and that from his immediate environment (drawn with the help of his Hollow powers), allowing him to draw power from both sides. When Ichigo wears his mask, the power, speed, blast area, force, and size of the Getsuga Tenshō becomes drastically augmented to the point of seriously harming a foe. When used with his Bankai and Hollow mask in combination, his Getsuga Tenshō is stated to be his ultimate attack. Ichigo's tremendous speed allows him to move faster than the Getsuga Tenshō itself, allowing him to fire multiple blasts from different directions. While using the Hollow mask, Ichigo gains a substantial increase in strength and his already formidable speed is greatly enhanced. His attacks also become so fast that the opponent cannot even perceive them until after they are hit. He also becomes fast enough to outrun his own energy attacks, allowing him to strike and enhance them or launch simultaneous attacks at the opponent from different angles. Apparently, using the form makes him much more pain resistant and His durability is even more evident throughout the as he is thrown through various buildings and obstructions without much damage.

    Appearance:

    Name: Jiraiya
    Nickname: Ero-Sennin
    Age: 52
    Gender: Male

Personality: Jiraiya is a self-proclaimed super-pervert with no equal, and a frequent voyeur, going so far as to create the Transparent Escape Technique, to allow him to spy on naked women without being caught (doing "research" as he called it, even as a child). He never actually hid his perversion, and even seemed proud of it, as seen when he told the Third Hokage about it when he was still a child. Despite this, Jiraiya disliked being referred to as the Ero-sennin by Ichigo in front of others. Jiraiya had also been known to show off, even during a fight. This showing off typically took the form of traditional kabuki poses, keeping with his hermit theme. He became annoyed if he was interrupted for whatever reason while trying to strike a pose. When the situation called for it, however, Jiraiya could become extremely serious. He could also be quite perceptive

Despite Jiraiya's flamboyant behavior and prowess as a shinobi, he was a strong believer in peace; his hope being to one day end the hatred that plagued the ninja world. Jiraiya also held a great deal of faith in the next generation, and saw them as the answer to this hate.

Bio: As a child, Jiraiya and his former team-mates, Orochimaru and Tsunade, were students of the Third Hokage. Jiraiya's relation with his team practically mirrored that of the future Team 7, with Jiraiya being quite similar to Naruto. After leaving the Third's tutelage, he traveled the world.

Jiraiya at some point discovered the residence of the toads, a species he proved to have a natural affinity for. In the anime this is shown to have occurred when he was still the Third's student; after seeing the Third perform the Summoning Technique, Jiraiya tried to use it himself. Since he did not have a contract, Jiraiya was reversed summoned to Mount Myōboku. During his time with the toads, he trained in senjutsu. The Great Toad Sage also made a prophecy concerning Jiraiya: that he would someday choose whether one of his students saved or destroyed the world.

Once day, Jiraiya found a young boy whom had ran away from his home due to persecution from his family and villagers. Jiraiya as a sage knew on sight about the boy having a demon in him. He approached the boy and showed him kindness and proved to the child that he did not care about the monster. Eventually, he grew fond of the boy and decided to take him on as an apprentice. He spent the last 9 years traveling together where Jiraiya eventually grew to see Ichigo as a grandson of sorts.

    Special Talents/Abilities/Skills/Attributes:
i)Jiraiya was well-versed in a variety of ninjutsu types, being capable of spitting oil from his mouth, or breathing fire. He could create deep swamps with Earth Release: Swamp of the Underworld. He could grow and sharpen his hair for offensive and defensive purposes with Needle Jizō. Jiraiya was taught how to use the Rasengan by Minato, and had since developed larger variants. Apart from his fighting abilities, Jiraiya was able to use barriers. Examples would include Barrier: Dome Method Formation, which allowed him to detect all movements within a wide radius and block attacks, and Barrier: Toad Gourd Prison, which allowed him to trap an enemy inside the belly of a small toad-shaped gourd, the inside of which contains a landscape with a lake of stomach acid.

ii)Jiraiya was known as the "Toad Sage", due to his natural affinity for toads, and his utilization of a number of toad-related techniques. Many typically dealt with summoning toads. He had risen to a level of ability that allowed him to summon Gamabunta. He could even summon the nearly indestructible esophagus of a great, fire-breathing toad with Summoning: Toad Mouth Bind. Once the technique had been used to cover the area, Jiraiya could control it as he pleased, and used it to trap most ninja.

iii)His most powerful ability was to enter Sage Mode, a transformation that allowed him to use natural energy to greatly enhance all of his abilities. Before entering Sage Mode, Jiraiya will summon the elder toad couple Shima and Fukasaku and have them fuse to his body. In addition to maintaining Jiraiya's natural energy while he fought, they added their own abilities to help him in battle. Sage Mode greatly increased Jiraiya's physical power, as shown by his ability to send Pain's summons flying and use the extremely powerfull collaboration ninjutsu Sage Art: Goemon. This form allowed Jiraiya to use stronger versions of his other jutsu. An example would include the Super Great Ball Rasengan, a massive variant of Rasengan even larger than his own body. As Jiraiya was not adept with genjutsu, he relied on Shima and Fukasaku to help him in that aspect.

iv)Jiraiya had been shown to be very knowledgeable with Sealing Techniques.

[[Alright, we should be good to start now; but I AM still accepting forms.]]

    ------------------------------

    :t r a y l a:

No mattter how many times I felt it, the pure air above the forest was so beautifully refreshing that I had to keep coming back for more. I heaved a huge sigh, tasting the chill of the elevated atmosphere, and let my eyes sweep over the landscape that was practically at my feet. Beautiful..... For a few hundred miles, there was nothing but green forest; then just beyond that, I could see fields of wheat swaying in the wind, rippling like waves on a golden ocean. And then, even beyond that, though I couldn't see them, I imagined the white marble arches and flat rooves of Virdene, a city that was barely myth to me and my companion, Rolf. I sometimes wondered what those people were like, what they ate, how they dressed.... Somewhere in my mind, I wanted to be one of the Court Ladies that Mother had always told me about, wearing flowing silk gowns with smotheringly tight sashes, and eating only the most expensive delicacies while I sat on my lazy behind and waited for a nice proper lord to take me away. What a life....

How anyone could stand it was beyond me.

There was a quick burst of wind, and I stumbled slightly, nearly losing my footing. I was very aware of the danger that this kind of sight-seeing brought, but I didn't mind. Time and again I would risk my life just to look out on the world I must never enter, and just wonder why.

I looked down through the branches to where the uppermost levels of the Treehouse stood several feet down, looming under the dark shadow that the canopy cast on the entire forest floor. Easing myelf down gently, I soon reached the roof and walked across to the basket and pulley that we usually used for hoisting things up into our home — cleverly raised off the ground to avoid a run in with any of the nastier creatures of the Vanaheim Forest — and let it send me straight to the ground, a dizzying distance for anyone without a sense of excitement. When I hit ground, I felt the forest groan, and whether it was because of my usual upbeat energy, or another pain from the Pulses, was unknown to me.

"It's a lovely morning above! Not a cloud in the sky; but with a rather hefty wind. We should be expecting rain again in the next week if it stays as hot as it is," I told Rolf wherever he may be. We were childhood friends, the last of the People of the Vanaheim Forest — Vanaheimians for short — and we were as close as people could be, even though we were near polar opposites. He was so level-headed and logical.... And me? I had my head in the clouds.

    ------------------------------

    :a u r u m:

"Is everyone here and accounted for?" I asked, my stallion's reins grasped firmly in one gloved hand. My eyes scanned the small group of Virdenian specialists, accompanied by a few of my own Raiders, gathered at the gates of Virdene. These people were all hand picked for their skills, and everyone pitched in a little something different. Our Lord Vaan Tirstone was troubles by the Darkwave, and it was our job to ward it off the same way our ancestors had done several hundred years ago. We were going to destroy all the sources of Pure Energy that the Darkwave fed off in hopes that it would leave Testra — once called Lithilus in the time of its first attack — for good.

"I'll introduce myself. I am First Captain Aurum Maine of the Virdenian Raiders; and during this expodition, I will be your commanding officer. It should be completely clear what I expect, as this is a life or death mission. Are there any complaints?"

Rolf was pretending to sleep when Trayala said, "It's a lovely morning above. Not a cloud in the sky... but with a rather hefty wind. We should be expecting rain again in the next week if it stays as hot as it is."

Rolf opened his eyes, used the tree trunk he had based himself against as leverage to pull himself into a standing position, and said, "That we should, which means extra meat we'll need. Not to mention herbs. Some of them die out when they're flooded... although, more of them practically thrive on the extra water. Oh, and we'll have to refill our waterskins when we have the chance. We don't know what the rain will bring in. Last time we made that mistake, it was a couple years ago. You remember, right? It washed the blood of that basilisk we felled into our favorite river. We had to ration our existing water for ten days before the poison dispersed, and it still tastes kind of foul." He sighed.

I made a face at the mere thought of it. "I remember that. Stupid Basilisk couldn't go bleed near some other river.... Nope. It had to be that one.... And I would have drank that water if you weren't so observant, too...." I huffed, crossing my arms. I scanned the forest now, the taste of the water still clear in my head. Whether it tasted good or not, we needed it to survive. Then, something dawned on me. "Rolf, we may never need to drink that gross stuff anymore.... You know the spring in the center of the forest? Can't we just get all our water from there? I mean, it's clean and cool — nothing lives in it — it's perfectly safe for us to drink from!"

I was aware that there was something horribly wrong with this flawed logic of mine. The Pure Spring was a religious site, said to be the very epitome of Pure Energy in Testra. Mother used to tell me that there was one of these in every land, a great deposit of Pure Energy; usually somewhere nigh on untouched by human hands, like the Vanaheim Forest. She used to tell me that the Vanaheimians were the Guardians of Remiel's Pool, and that it must remain untouched. But this was a desperate time of need — the Great Lord Remiel wouldn't mind it. Uhmm... or would he?

Rolf was stunned at what Trayla had said. "The Pure Spring of Vanaheim?!" he exclaimed. "Yeah, maybe the pool itself is safe, but I don't think we want to anger the gods. You know how bad the hunting is there - the animals won't come within a hundred feet of it, and the only things that will are plants and the two of us. That's just plain unnatural, so I tend to think there's a reason for it... wait..." Rolf paused. "Actually, yes, it might be safe. I remember hearing that the first person to discover it was a solo hunter looking for lycanthrope pelts, so if he drank from it or refilled his waterskins from it, which he was bound to, he wouldn't have survived if it really was unsafe. Yeah, good idea, if you can't stand the river." He walked closer to Trayla. "In any case, if you think we should, then I'm willing to try it... Watch out!"

An Armor Beast came crashing through the trees. It looked like an oversized rhinocerous without a horn, except that, due to its habit of eating precious minerals, its hide had developed a scaly top layer made of a combination of metal and precious gems. They were extremely rare, especially outside of the mountains, and their hide was much coveted among hunters for the price it fetched at market.

Rolf drew and strung his bow in one easy motion, fitted a previously poisoned arrow to it, and took aim at the Armor Beast, looking for an opening with no luck. The Armor Beast turned toward him, and he just barely managed to dodge before it whipped its head at him.

There are two things I can't stand in this world - people who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch.

    :t r a y l a:

I was stunned for a moment, only barely jumping out of the way. His first outburst had been completely expected, so it hadn't fazed me. But, when he turned around and stopped giving me Hell over another bad idea (which I had plenty of, all the time), I had reason to tilt my head to the side curiously.

"Rolf, did you eat something bad; like, Ythir guts with Raheran Vinegarette?" I frowned at him, almost seriously concerned; but after a moment, I grinned and climbed the ladder to the Treehouse to fetch our waterskins, herb baskets, and my spear. My hunting knife was already sheathed safely at my waist. I left the waterskins and baskets on the balcony so I could slide down the ladder, hitting the ground with grace. "I promise I won't let you down this time. Not like the time I suggested we go Bahil hunting!"

That memory was still vivid as well. It had been a little over a year after my mother died and left Rolf and I alone; I had been studying the creature and finally — after so long — realized its weakness. I figured that because of the lifestyle of the beast, it should be good-eating, and that it's weak spot would be a simple target while it was stretched up into the trees to gather the best leaves. However, I forgot about the eyes in the side of it's head that were camoflauged into its skin. The Bahil is prone to charging and chasing anything it judges as a threat.... The story from there is obvious.

The Armor Beast charged Rolf, and I was in its path once again. With a quick glance at Rolf, I took off ahead of it, hoping to get it into a position where he could kill it. Because of its rarity and choice of habitat, I had never gotten to try its meat. Though, the rest of it could be put to good use as weapons, tools, and maybe even hunting leathers.

Trayla dodged out of the way of the Armor Beast as it charged again. Rolf cursed her (Trayla's) luck for being selected as a target. He finally decided "weak point be damned" and just fired an arrow, hoping to hit between two scales.

No such luck. His arrow glanced off the hide. Rolf put his bow away and drew a dagger, jumped onto the Armor Beast, grabbed one of the rougher gem-encrusted scales, and drove his dagger into what looked like one of the weaker metal scales.

It was a hit this time, but not a lethal one, or even a critical one. Rolf seriously wondered whether it counted as more than a glancing blow when the Armor Beast acknowledged it as being painful by bucking and rearing, trying to get Rolf and his dagger off it. It worked, too. Rolf went flying off on the second buck, landing dazed in the underbrush with his knife still in his hands. He collected his wits and got up, only to be amazed by what he saw...

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What Rolf saw is up to anyone. First come, first serve.

I was walking through the forest with my guardians, when something at a distance caught my eye. I cautiously walked closer and saw two people fighting against the Armor Beast. The man I noticed manage to jump on it's back and injured it with his dagger. Though the injury was not fatal. On the second buck, it send the man flying. I saw the Armor Beast about to attack again. Taking no chances, I went into hyper will mode and quickly approached the beast. Just as the Armor beast was about to charge, I stand in front of it, stopping it in it's track with one hand.

The beast try to struggle and resist, but it was useless against my strength. The armor beast could not budge an inch, not with me holding it in place. I turn to see how the man is doing, and saw him looked at me in amazement at seeing me able to stop the Armour beast in it's track with just one hand.

From afar, I could hear G, my storm guardian praising me.

    G: That's our boss.

Then I turn my attention to one of my guardians, Asari Ugetsu.

"Asari, use your rain attribute to calm this creature."

    Asari: Will do, Primo.

Asari then brings out his rain attribute dying will flame and spread around this area by the use of his long sword.

As he did that, I sense the Armour Beast starts to relax and becomes calm.

"Knuckle, use your sun attribute to heal it's wound."

Knuckle: Of course, this creature is after all a creation from kami(God) himself.

Knuckle approached the beast and placed his hand over the beast wound and bring out his sun flame and began to heal it.

Then I touched the beast mind, trying to communicate with it, telling it we are not it's enemy and we meant no harm. It took awhile, but the beast understood. I slowly let go of the beast, then the beast took off into the forest away from the area.

    "That's should do.. . "

I then return my attention to the girl and the guy.

    "You two alright."

I looked at them with my golden-orange eyes with a calm, expressionless expression that usually have the women melt in my country.

People in the Vanaheim, dressed strangely, made me dive for cover, away from the Armor Beast, into the thick underbrush at the base of an ancient Demetris tree, hiding myself behind one gnarled root. What where they doing here, of all places? Who were they?

I watched them clean up after Rolf after being bucked from the Armor Beast's back, calming and healing it, sending it on its way. There goes my breakfast.... I asked myself again, who they were, and this time in a slightly peeved manner. It takes alot to get me angry, but I find that one of the most irritating things is when someone steals my kill. Okay, really, it was Rolf's — he saw it first — but it was my job to do things that Rolf couldn't do, and vice versa. I decided, when I realized that they knew I was here, it would be in my best interest to express this concern.

"Hey, I was gonna eat that!" I waved my spear at them, to show that I was displeased by their actions, frowning all the while. These outsiders were strange, and they scared me; which was a big deal. Keeping my eyes on them, I moved across to where Rolf lay, kneeling down to check him for wounds. "Are you alright? You didn't get hurt when you were thrown, did you?"

    [Ichigo Kurosaki and Jiraiya]

Ichigo and his 'teacher' were passing through the town of Vindice when they heard rumors about the darkwave. After some convincing, Jiraiya managed to get Ichigo to follow him. ow they were jumping from tree to tree in the Vanaheim forest.

    Ichigo: "Oi! Ero-Sennin."

Jiraiya: "Don't call me that dammit brat! What do you want?"

Ichigo: "Remind me again why we are wasting time in this forest again."

Jiraiya: "Cheeky brat! Don't tell you forgot about that dammed Darkwave and that feeling. That horrible dread feeling...Brr...As a sennnin (Hermit) it is my duty to investigate this!"

Ichigo: "What ever you say, Perv."

Before Jiraiya could retort, they heard a loud roar and a scream following. Both immediately changed directions towards the sounds. Eventually they saw an Armor Beast chasing a girl. Before they could interween, a group of 7 men stepped out and managed to calm the beast. One of them stepped ahead and tried to ask the girl something to which she jumped out of her hiding place and shouted at them.

???: "Hey, I was gonna eat that!"

Eventually Jiraiya cleared his throat and everyone in the area looked at them. Ichigo was crouching on a branch while Jiraiya stood.

    Jiraiya: "Are you kids alright?"

"No, I'm fine, but..." Rolf just stared at the seven men. "Damn, that was amazing." He got to his feet. "Well, there goes our extra food supply. I suppose I should be grateful, but I'm more worried about why an Armor Beast was in the forest of all places." He put away his knife and approached the one who looked like the leader. "Hello," he said to him. "I know this seems rude, considering you likely saved our lives, but as we are the last of this forest's guardians, I think we have a right to know why you were traipsing through here."

[[@All: Because there aren't very many players, I'm putting the number of characters per player up to four. Everyone, feel free to add in at any time; it would really help. We especially need more female characters, and the lieutenant of the Raiders (if not a few more of the army itself).]]

    ------------------------------------

    :a u r u m:

I watched the scene from behind the trees, my Raiders ready for my command. It appeared that I had been beaten to the Vanaheim, and I wasn't happy about it. I was here on direct orders from Lord Tirstone himself. Were these, perhaps, the specialists he had hired?

I motioned for my men to stay back and emerged from the clearing myself, just behind the two guardians. "I believe I can answer that. We are here under orders of Lord Vaan Tirstone to destroy the source of Pure Energy within this forest, thus vanquishing the Darkwave."

At this, the girl turned to me, an eyebrow raised. "Destroy the Pure Energy? And what's a... Darkwave?" She turned the look on the other guardian, standing to her full height.

"We believe that it is a relative of Sin, a calamity that struck the ancient land of Solantra hundreds of years ago and left it in ruins. A few hundred years ago, it attacked Testra as well; back when your people were in plenty. It was subdued, however by the destruction of its feeding grounds — hotspots of Pure Energy like the one in this forest. The theory is that if we demolish the spot for good, then Darkwave will never return to us." I watched the others in the small clearing for a moment, and then returned a cold gaze on the girl. She was frowning deeply now.

"If you destroy Remiel's Pool... the whole forest will die."

"That is none of my concern."

She stared at me for a moment, a look that hovered somewhere between contempt and murder sitting heavily on her delicate features. She took a deep breath and glared at me, turning the look toward the others in the clearing, and released it slowly. "I'll make sure you never find the spring." And she headed for the ladder to what I assumed was her home, climbing with such speed and grace that I was actually impressed. She disappeared inside the home, shutting the door behind her.

    ------------------------------------

    :t r a y l a:

I was relieved to know that Rolf wasn't hurt after the incident; but I was still unsettled by the fact that there were people in our home. Apparently, we both wanted to know what they were doing here, it just seemed as if I were more upset about than he was. He was right though — Rolf and I could have ended up dead; neither of us would have been able to kill it on our own. We were nowhere near the level our fathers had been. Still, I was on edge about this. There was something wrong with this.

Someone came out from behind us to answer Rolf's inquiry. He was silent, like a Pantera stalking its prey. He wanted to destroy the Vanaheim's sorce of Pure Energy to rid Testra of some Darkwave. I was confused. Did he mean the strange Dark Pulses that were taking the forest's life? I raised one eyebrow at this man. "Destroy the Pure Energy? And what's a... Darkwave?" I shiftd my questioning look over to Rolf, standing to get a better look at both parties.

The man gave me his answer, formal and uptight. Definitely from the city. This must have been what Father called a Raider of Virdene. Either way, his explanation sounded similar to the Dark Pulses. So, he was trying to kill the same thing that was plaguing us? In that way, we were on the same side; but I disagreed heavily with the idea of destroying the Vanaheim's pure spring.

"If you destroy Remiel's Pool... the whole forest will die." Now I was filling with some unnameable emotion. Anger, sadness, hatred...?

"That is none of my concern."

Definitely hatred. I gripped my spear a little tighter and my whole body tensed. These city people — all of them — they weren't here to save the forest. They were here to kill it; and I could never allow myself to give them anything but my deepest disregards. "I'll make sure you never find the spring." I turned on my heel and headed for the Treehouse, climbing the ladder and slamming the door without another word.

I turn towards the person who answer the guardian of the forest question.

"Raider, you know we don't necessarily have to destroy the spring itself. Yes destroying the spring, might destroy the darkwave, but there are other ways to stop this darkwave without destroying the spring. Right, you just make an enemy out of the girl."

I shook my head. I then turn to the guardian.

"Guardian of the forest, forgive me for letting your food get away. To repay it, my men shall provide you with food."

I nodded at my guardian, my guardian nodded at me in understanding what I am implying. They quickly took out the food supplies and handed over to the guardian.

"I hope this shall be enough to last through the winter along with your friend who just left."

Then I turn and face the people up on the tree branch.

    I smiled.

"You must be Jiraiya, I presume. The writer of this fine novel."

I took out a novel that had the title, The tale of the Gutsy Ninja.

"It sure is a pleasure to meet the writer of this fine novel."

G:EH?! doesn't this writer always write perverted novel?!

    "Hmmm. . .?"

    I turn to G.

"No, this is not one of his so called perverted novel, G. This novel is the first novel that Jiraiya had ever written."

    G: I see. . .

    Then I face the guardian.

"Guardian, I suggest you keep a close on your friend. She might do something reckless which might end up in bloodshed."

    Then I face my guardians.

    "Let's continue on our search."

I return my attention to the guardian.

"Guardian of the forest, with your permission, we wish to continue our research about the spring. Do not worry, we have no intention of destroying it unlike the raiders."
