 Hey everyone. I'm here to try out a Valkyria Chronicles RP I've had in mind for quite some time but haven't bothered to start (I don't recall trying this yet, but I am very tired at the moment =_=). Thought I would try it now since I no longer have much to do again and despite joining a lot of RP's, haven't been RP'ing much. So, this RP is based off of the game Valkyria Chronicles. It will take place during the events of the game, but it won't be following them to a 'T' as it were, I'll be taking liberties with the story and such. Time Period: Think World War 2 era level of technology. Style: This will just be a regular style RP. Be descriptive on what your character is doing and who is speaking. Despite how it may sound when you start reading over the classes and everything, this won't be a stats based RP or anything like that. Combat will just be your typical affair and our characters will just be traveling from place to place. Story: 1935 E.C. The continent of Europa is split in to two major powers. The democratic union in the west, known as the Atlantic Federation, and the Imperial Alliance in the east. The two powers eventually went to war with each over the precious mineral, Ragnite. Ragnite could be used for many important purposes such as fuel and medicine, and it's growing scarcity led to a declaration of war by the Imperial Alliance in an attempt to acquire more in order to stave off impending shortages. So begins the Second Europan War. In the middle of these two powers lies the Principality of Gallia, a small country that has remained independant from both the Federation and the Imperials. Despite being neutral in the war, Gallia's Ragnite rich soil is too tempting to ignore and the Imperial Alliance, empowered by it's military strength which has forced the Federation on the defense, invades Gallia. As the small country begins it's fight for survival against a military behemoth, able bodied civilians are drafted to serve in the Militia and fight alongside the Royal Gallian Army in a desperate attempt to defend their homeland from the invaders. -Races- Valkyria - The Valkyria are an ancient race believed to have freed the world from the Darcsen, a race that had inhabited the world and possessed advanced knowledge of Ragnite technology. The Valkyria are worshiped throughout Europa as saviors and gods, partially due to the legends surrounding their use of Ragnite. Legends say that they possessed near magical powers from Ragnite. The Valkyrian Lance and Shield are widely used on military and national flags in the current day. Very few pure blooded Valkyria exist today, and those that do usually have no knowledge that they are one. Most information regarding them has been lost to time and the inter-racial breeding that led to the decline in pure blooded Valkyria. Darcsen - A group of people persecuted and looked down upon due to the belief that they once ruled the lands and brought destruction. Although there are no historical documents regarding the Darcsen, they have been treated as lower class citizens by the general public and in the Imperial Alliance territories, they are used as slaves. Darcsens are characterized by their dark-bluish hair and (for those that choose to display their heritage) the traditionally patterned shawls they sometimes wear (like this) Map of Gallia: Map of Gallia - Red area is land that the Imperials have already seized control of - Capital: Randgriz - Ruling Monarch: Princess Cordelia - Flag Gallian Militia Basic Combat Uniform Example - Female - Male (I was going to look for class specific pictures, but I couldn't find any decent ones.) Imperial Army Combat Uniform - Normal Soldier -Characters Sheet- Name: [First and last name of your character.] Age: [No younger than 17 (since they have to be old enough to be eligible for military drafting).] Gender: Occupation: [What did your character do before joining the Militia?] Rank: [Anywhere between Private and Lieutenant. All of our characters will be in Squad 4 so that everyone stays together for the most part.] Note: Medics will not have a particular rank. Class: [Explained right below this section.] Appearance: [Picture or description is fine. This is also the place to list any defining features your character may have, including scars, clothing, or things like that.] Bio: [If you like. Not really required.] Personality: -Classes- Your weapons are class specific and cannot be mixed and matched. If you choose a shocktrooper, then you carry grenades and a machine/sub-machine gun. A Lancer carries the Lance Anti-Tank weapon and a standard rifle. You won't be able to add on additional weapons like grenades if your class does not carry it. The only exception is that you are allowed to carry a pistol if you want, for any class. Keep in mind that this is not an RP where characters have superhuman abilities, so typical weapons like swords are relatively useless to have. Just remember, characters have been drafted in to the Militia, so they are given standard issue weapons based on their talents (otherwise known as class). (Weapon examples: Rifle - Machine Gun - Sniper Rifle - Grenade - Lance (Example is shown below in the class description)) Tank Commander (1 spot open) - Commands a tank which provides the squad with transportation, mobile cover and powerful attacks. If you choose this class and there comes a time when your character has to leave the tank to fight you will be armed with a standard rifle only.       The descriptions of the classes are mainly to give you an idea of what each one is like. There won't be any stats or things like that and you won't be expected to stick specifically to those roles (like the Scouts going ahead of the group) so don't worry too much about how they are described. Rules: All standard Gendou City/RP Masters Guide to RP'ing rules apply. -You aren't superhuman. Your characters can't just stand out in the open and gun down everyone in sight or dodge tank rounds with ease. Be at least a little realistic. This goes for the Tank Commanders as well. Your tank is not invincible, even 1 enemy tank will be a threat to you, so don't get carried away. The biggest advantage you have is the fact that regular firearms can't really hurt you. - Keep love PG-13 as always. - Killing is allowed, but the permission of the characters owner is needed. Since all the characters will be fighting in the same squad, this shouldn't really be an issue. Deaths will probably always be solely up to the owners. - 2 characters maximum. - The characters will have ranks and such, but the only one giving orders to other characters will be me (which won't be very often. It will just be when the plot needs to move forward in a certain way). - As stated above, only 2 people can choose the Tank Commander class (1 per person). This is mainly to make sure that we don't wind up with 6 or 7 tanks in the squad, because tanks have quite a few advantages. Your tank will have you as the commander as well as a driver (which can be your second character, or just a nameless person that you don't need to mention) and you can control it as you see fit. Just keep in mind that you will probably see times where your character(s) will have to leave the tank to continue fighting. -If you plan on leaving the RP, please inform me or someone else in the RP. It's never a good thing when people just up and leave without telling a soul, causing conversations and events involving them to be stalled while we wait to see whether or not you're coming back. That should be just about it. I will notify everyone of any changes I make before and after this RP starts. I hope this becomes a success and that we all enjoy ourselves. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Name: Vincent Sterling Age: 23 Gender: Male Occupation: University Student Rank: Lieutenant (Field Commander of Squad 4) Class: Scout Appearance:  Bio: Vincent lived an average life up until the outbreak of the war. His parents were both killed during the first Europan War and he has lived with his aunt and uncle in Rangriz ever since. He was studying to be a Pharmacist but did not have enough experience in first aid to be considered for the role of Medic. Instead, he was given the rank of Lieutenant due to the mandatory officer training he underwent in University and was assigned as the Field Commander of Squad 4. Personality: He is a lighthearted person who cares deeply about the people close to him. He enjoys relaxing and rarely gets angry, but has a hidden depressed and pessimistic side. Name: Miranda Walker Age: 23 Gender: Female Occupation: Chef Rank: Private First Class Class: Lancer Appearance:  Bio: Miranda had graduated from the Culinary School she was attending a short time before the Empire began it's invasion. She was in the process of opening her own restaurant in a town north east of Bruhl, but when the Empire began it's invasion the building was taken over by the town watch for use as a command center and was quickly destroyed by Imperial tank fire. Miranda managed to survive and pulled herself out of the rubble where she was rescued by fleeing civilians. This event led her to sign on to the Militia as a Lancer, so that she could take on tanks to get revenge for the restaurant that they ruined. Although she has reasons for signing on as a Lancer, her slender body is not entirely suited to the weight of the Lancers weapons and therefore she has trouble wielding it quickly. Just being able to use it as all is something she attributes to the upper body strength she developed to deal with her rather large chest. Personality: She is rather cheerful most of the time but tends to complain quite a bit when things get difficult. As her occupation would suggest, she loves to cook and can make good meals out of almost any ingredients. The attack on the town and the sight of several mangled bodies of the town watch members in the debris has left her with mild psychological trauma, so she tends to avoid razed buildings and civilian areas where tank shells have caused significant damage (she does her best to hide this trauma however, as she is worried that knowledge of it will cause her to be reassigned to a different role).    |

Reserve me two spots. I like the idea of a war-based RP. Name: Aleksander Edelstein Age: 20 Gender: Male Occupation: Teacher/Librarian Rank: Sergeant, Squad 4 Class: Tank Commander Bio: Aleksander Edelstein was a teacher in a town near Bruhl, teaching reading, writing and arithmetic to little children while maintaining the local library. Life there was peaceful and quiet, until the Empire attacked with the intent of driving out the heavily-entrenched Militia bastion in the town. As Imperial troops poured into the town, Aleksander found himself guiding his kindergarten class to safety. That was when he found a group of soldiers on break, their tank lying unprotected. Before the soldiers could react, Aleksander drove the tank straight at them, causing them to scatter. He then used the vehicle to escort his class to the nearest town. He was only eighteen then. Two years after the attack on his village, Aleksander became part of the militia as a tank driver, out of a sense of duty and a desire to protect the innocents of Gallia. Personality: Mild-mannered and serious, but capable of being hot-blooded when necessary. Do NOT hurt children around him- it will probably be the last thing you do. He will disobey all orders and abandon all protocol if there are innocents to be saved. Good thing he has the tank to back him up. Two years later, he was assigned to Squad 4, where he met a tank driver named Aleksander Edelstein. From then on, he was give the task of maintaining Squad 4's tank, who he affectionately named "Dame Elizabeth". Personality: Cheerful and rather happy-go-lucky. Gets very excited about getting up close to machinery, especially vehicles. Occasionally waxes nostalgic about his farm home. Appearance:  Additional Notes: Michel has very callused hands from farming and tinkering with machines. Most of the time, however, he wears gloves to provide extra grip, so the calluses can't be seen. Quotes: "Yeah, I'm just a simple country boy. EXTRA: Minor Character Name: Lucas Rawne Age: 23 Gender: Male Occupation: Shoemaker/Militiaman, 8th Squad Rank: Corporal Class: NONE: Functions as tank driver for Squad 4 (but has the same equipment as a Tank Commander- rifle, no grenades) Appearance: [To come later.] Bio: Originally a shoemaker recruited from the plains of Karim, Lucas was the sole survivor of 8th Squad when it was wiped out in an ill-fated assault on an Imperial position to the north. He spent three months recuperating in a military hospital in Randgriz, planning to return to Karim. However, all that was left of Karim was a smoldering ruin. It was then that he resolved to return to the battlefield, to make the Empire pay for what they had done to his home- and more importantly, to atone for what he saw as his greatest failure. Personality: Quite boisterous and jolly off the battlefield, but grim and unsociable on it. Quotes: "I can't just put down my gun and stop fighting. Karim was m'home... m'responsibility. Thanks for joining in Icarael. Having your driver as a minor character is fine. They don't have to count as one of your two characters unless they play a major role. If they're only there for the occasional line then that's fine. Oh yeah, and that's an awesome quote for your first character. I got a chuckle out of that. I'm about to make a few small edits to the first post before I head out for the day. Mostly just a few images and an example of what a Lancers weapon is. |

Name: Oan Mkoll Age: 23 Gender: Male Occupation: Hunter Rank: Sergeant Class: Scout Appearance:  Carries with him a long double-edged combat blade, meant to be used as a bayonet it is longer than your average knife. Bio: Mkoll is the last survivor of his village and holds a grudge against the Imperial Alliance. The village was near the border and was among the first casualties of war when Imperial Alliance invaded. Mkoll was on a hunting trip when this happened and he returned to find the village in burnt ruins. He set out to claim vengeange, but he also realised that he wouldn't be able to do much alone, so he set out to find the Gallian army. He is commonly referred as a Ghost because of is his exceptional skill in infiltration and camouflage. But he also has a more personal reason to call himself a Ghost, because in a sense he is a ghost. The last restless ghost of a place now lost. Personality: Mkoll is rather goodnatured man and despite losing everything he held dear, he still enjoys life. He is determined to not let anyone else suffer the same fate as him, as long as it is within his power to do anything about it. Quote: "Only in death does duty end. "   |

Throughout his love he always had fascination with machines and technology. He was consider a genius. Looks like a sausage party so far. lol Okay, I need to be a killjoy about a few things. @Roxas - 1) I didn't specifically mention this, but all of our RP characters will be in Squad 4. It's easier to keep the characters together since squads typically operate on their own. 2) The militia uniform is the same for all the soldiers (I'm going to get a picture of it up soon. One of the things I didn't have time for last night). So things like swords and custom armor aren't allowed. These are people who were everyday citizens before being drafted in to the military, so they wouldn't have access to advanced Ragnite infused armor. Keep in mind that there are no superpowers or anything in this as well, so a sword is near worthless when everyone else has a gun. 3) Classes have specific weapons, which is why I didn't include a 'Weapons' tab on the character sheet. @Zero - Read number 3 above. If you choose to be a shocktrooper then your weapons are grenades and machine/sub-machine guns. @Fenris - A bayonet would be fine, but like I said to Roxas, swords a near worthless for this kind of trench/World War 2/non-superpower combat. If you guys want to carry around swords and stuff then that is still okay with me, but they wouldn't do much good for this kind of RP, especially when you get a look at the enemy soldiers (a picture which I am about to post). Sorry about that. I've been gone all day, so I didn't get the time I was hoping for to clean this up. I should have waited until today to post this. Edit: I changed the first post to include a picture of the standard Gallian Militia uniform (different classes have more or less armor in places, or things like ammo belts, but I could only find a good picture of the standard uniform), the Imperial Soldiers standard uniform and I've also made an exception to the weapons. Your character can carry a pistol if you want them to. We have 6 people so far, assuming nobody leaves. So I'm going to see if another 2 or 3 people show up before getting started. Casting will still be open after we start though. |

@Jon: Well the combat blade is supposed to be a slightly longer than your avarage knife, but it is by no means meant to be a sword though. Well I'll clarify that in my post. |

@Fenris - That's fine then. Seeing as how other people started going with swords, that was the impression that I got from your description of it. A combat knife of some sort is fine, since it has a more practical application compared to swords. I was just trying to quickly stem the 'melee weapon' mentality that people seemed to have. @Haseo - No problem. Chances are the RP will be starting tomorrow when I get back from work. I'm hoping there will be at least 1 more member at that point, but casting will stay open so it doesn't really matter either way. |

She usually wears long paints and any shirt, but when she wears shorts her scar is visible. Bio: She lead a relatively normal life. She grew up with her parents who encouraged her to follow her dreams and so she made it though medical school and was going to become a practicing surgeon when she decided to join the military efforts. Personality: She is a bit tomboyish and has a no-nonsense attitude, but under neath her tough-girl outer shell she is really caring and soft.  |

@Anke - Can do. @Zero - It's a basic machine gun, like a Thompson from WW2. Not sure what else you're imagining it to be. As I said, they are all standard firearms given out to the militia. I'm not trying to be a stick in the mud with this, but weapons are pre-chosen for classes, it just has to do with the kind of RP it is. Also, out of curiosity, what is a machine blade exactly? @All- Please don't concern yourself with weapons. I don't want to classify this RP as realistic, because there are some otherworldly elements to it, but it does stick to a relatively realistic style. There's no need for all of these fantasy weapons. Again, I know people want to have these defining weapons and stuff, but this isn't what I was going for. The RP is mainly about the characters, interaction and story. Considering everyone is part of a militia, it makes sense that weapons, uniforms and equipment are standard for all people. Just try and keep the time period in mind (World War 2 era for real world comparisons sake). |

Bio: Elia Howard lives a normal life until the invasion begin, he witnesses his fiancee got taken hostage by the imperial alliance, he safely escapes from the invasion. Now, he vows to take his fiancee back by any means necessary... Alive... Personality: Serious, Caring, Brave Extra: He have a revolver, but he rarely uses it considering the ammo scarcity and effectiveness, but he always brought along his revolver to the war in case if his machine gun's ammo runs out.  |

@Haseo - Nope, you can choose whatever class you want for your character, regardless of how many other people have picked it. You can have both of your characters be the same class if you wanted to. I doubt we'll end up with enough duplicates to make things problematic. @Landon - Good to have you on board. I'm heading off to bed now. @Jonothan - Duly noted. Deleted my character and modified the storyline and here's the replacements: _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Name: Dante 'Big Joe' Alighieri Age: 24 Gender: Male Occupation: Schoolteacher Rank: Lieutenant Class: Shocktrooper Appearance: (ignore the sword)  Bio: Dante was born into a rather normal family. He received a good education and started teaching as a high school teacher. He has a twin brother named Vergil that is the complete opposite in personality from him. When the Atlantic Federation attacked, Dante was not at home and later returned to find his family missing. He was conscripted into the army but shows little discipline and respect for superiors. At one point he saved a young girl named Patty Lowell whose family was slaughtered before her eyes and she was about to be raped by the Federation soldiers. Since then he has adopted her as his daughter but they have a relationship akin to siblings. He is best friends with Vincent Valentine even before the war and enjoys irritating him by calling him emo. Dante even now has not stopped looking for his family. Almost everyone with the exception of a few superior officers and Vincent call him 'Big Joe'. He is rather aghast at seeing so many of his former students having being drafted and as such makes it his duty of watch over them. Dante does not like the normal weapons and uniform so in addition to the standard weapons and uniform he wears a a long, two tailed, blood red coat over his uniform and carries a pair of pistols that he prefers to use over his machine gun. Personality: Dante is incredibly flippant, mouthing off to even the most powerful of individuals, and he generally enjoys rubbing people the wrong way. He does mature as time goes by, but never really loses his attitude. Dante is seemingly unflappable, not showing fear whether he's being attacked by the Seven Hells assassination squad in his bathroom or being chased by a tank squadron. He can be serious when the situation calls for it, but he still maintains a fairly laid-back demeanor during such situations and is never without a witty taunt or comeback. Dante can seem at times to be uncaring or even callous, but actually has a very strong sense of justice and prefers to fight fairly. He can be counted on to do the right thing, even if he makes cynical quips about it the entire time. He has a habit of getting roaring drunk; Vincent Valentine mentions watching Dante getting so drunk that he proposed to a mop. Quotes: "If I hear any more threats against Captain Maitland's life, if I hear any more wild talk about going down to headquarters and killing the General or raping the nurses at the field hospital, I'm going to strangle the guy with my bare hands, you understand that? Now all good things come to those who wait! We're gonna have a lot of fun here, aren't we, Cowboy?" "Praise the lord and pass the ammunition!" "This ain't a goddamn field trip people. This is a fucking war!!" "My team is twice as qualified and three times as expendable!" "Where were you planning on shooting him from, the moon? If you'd have backed up any further you'd have had to mail him the bullets!" "I plan a whole hour in advance before I do anything. Anything after that is completely random.†“Like I was saying, you’re not going to die. I sent a transmission to division headquarters while I was on the radio. Reinforcements should arrive in about 15 minutes. When he heard that Dante was conscripted into the army, he joined willingly as well. Like Dante, he cares little for the standard uniform, finding it restricting and too obvious. He wears a tattered red cape, held in place over his shoulders and lower face by several buckles. Underneath his cape, Vincent's attire is black with several straps and buckles. Vincent wears a holster for his gun against his right leg, and pointed metallic boots. He also wears a golden gauntlet on his left arm with claw-like finger extensions. He feels that this is more practical in his stealth roles. Vincent is often sent out on solo missions but works together with his squad as well. He also does not use the standard scout weapons very often. He prefers to use two modified handguns. Personality: Dark and brooding. Despite his cold personality, he is not uncaring; he loves his little sister Yuffie. He often is reluctant to speak, although when he does he typically has something very important to say. Vincent is naturally a loner, but gets along well with Dante and is often the one who bails him out of trouble. However he feels irritated when Dante calls him emo or when others call him a vampire(his appearance resembles one). He is only seen o be loud when dealing with Dante's stupidity. I'm not sure if I know how to write a real letter." Extra: (1) Cerberus and Death Penalty are Vincent's modified handguns that he prefers to use over the standard scout gear. Cerberus is a semi-automatic, break loading revolver with three barrels and three chambers. It is initially capable of holding 18 shots at once, six per chamber. It is reloaded by a breaking mechanism that tilts the barrel and chambers an angle, allowing the ejection of spent cartridges and the placement of fresh rounds, ending with a flick of the wrist that snaps the barrel back into place. Three bullets are fired at once, allowing for only 6 shots per reload. Like Dante's Ebony & Ivory, the bullets he uses are modified AAR(Anti-Armour Rounds) designed to counter the heavy armor worn by federation soldiers. It is ornamented with scrollwork patterns, a small dog's head in place of the iron sights on each barrel, and a silver chain in the shape of a three-headed dog with a wing hanging from the end of the grip. Death penalty is similar to Cerberus but sports five unraveling chambers, and a menacing look that makes it resemble a revolver and the barrel is in the design of a cross. However the ammo used by it is very different. The Death penalty uses the newly designed ATR(Anti-Tank Rounds) bullets. These bullets are capable of piercing a tank's armor at POINT-BLANK RANGE and are devastating against infantry. Vincent DOES NOT acquire the Death Penalty YET as it is still in its testing phase. Cerberus  Death Penalty  (2) Yuffie Kisaragi is Vincent's younger half-sister. Due to having different father, they have different last names. Nevertheless, Yuffie adores her older brother and looks up to him seeing him as someone awesome. She has a very cocky and rude personality, and at times can be aggressive and a bit of a tomboy. She has a tendency to bestow honorific titles on herself. Yuffie has little tolerance for tradition and is highly rebellious to the very old-fashioned ways of some families, which lead to her clashing with her father before he died. She is also very clever and cunning, able to trick enemies with ease. Despite this, she is not at all averse to heroics and is still a reliable ally and friend. She also appears to find herself beautiful. Interestingly, she and Dante's adopted daughter, Patty are very good friends.    |

@ Jon: I dont know if salvaging grenades off of dead soldiers is legal in this RP. But if you think no then I'll edit it out. It's been a while since the last gun-centric RP. Cant pass this up! Originally bound to go attend a college in Randgriz, she was drafted prior to her admittance into the school. Rank: Private Class: Sniper Appearance:  Bio: Her family originally made a living in selling venison in the village. The first time she went hunting with her father, she proved to have a steady hand and an aura of Anonymity that made it easy to approach prey. If there was anything about hunting that Urika liked, it would be the joy of killing the prey without them even noticing their own death. Truthfully though, hunting was more of a sport than work in her eyes (The same was not so for her father). It was thanks to her skill at hunting that her parents where able to save enough money to send her to a fine school. But, before then the invasion had began. However, shooting will always be her first love. The particular way she goes about her sniping occasionally causes panic or confusion among the enemy. (Such as picking off officers, or firing the first shot to start an ambush) Personality: When she was drafted into the militia; despite her occasionally unsatisfactory behavior, the recruitment office decided her skill with a rifle was one that shant not go to waste. Urika is well talented in using cover to stay undetected. She is also not shy about picking off ammo, new rifles, grenades, or anything that takes to her liking off dead soldiers. As a person, she's maintains a seemingly blurry positive attitude. Though on the inside she likes to cause nuisances just to watch other people's reactions (Especially to those she dislikes). Despite this, she does not harbor any malicious intents towards other people in general. On the other hand, The fact that the imperials she has to fight against are human is not a bother to her at all. Urika hopes to be able to take out an entire squad of soldiers without them ever firing a single shot at her, along with killing multiple enemies with a single well lined bullet. Though, it occasionally worries some officers to think Urika may only be interested in killing for her entertainment then actually saving the country. @Ugo - That's okay with me, as long as you keep in mind that things scavenged off of soldiers will have limited supply (for example, if your characters takes a grenade from an enemy soldier and uses one later in the battle, you can't turn around and use another one in the next battle. In other words, taking it once doesn't make it part of your standard equipment.) The standard equipment for classes is really just used as a base point. It's the equipment you'll always have after leaving the Capital and bases. You can pick up enemy weapons and allied weapons if you want, but it will make your character heavier and easily tired if you're lugging around all of it with your standard gear and the armor on your uniform. @Roxas - That's better than before, but there are a few things. The other characters are only minor I presume, since the max you can have is 2 and they don't have profiles. So just keep in mind that when the group is out on missions those two characters won't be able to follow along, since they are civilians and not members of the militia. As for the pistols, again, those are fine now. Just keep in mind that regular soldiers don't have superhuman abilities in this RP, so the pistols might not always be the best idea considering they do have lower ammo capacity and aren't as strong against armored soldiers (which most of the enemies are considering the Imperials combat uniform). |

@Jonathon - That's right. Patty and Yuffie are NPC's that can be controlled by everyone. The hang out with the squad during downtime but obviously their guardians wont let them follow into combat. About the pistols, I mentioned that the characters PREFER using them but that does not necessary mean that it is their only weapon. However since you do make a point about armored soldiers I've edited the guns slightly. Please take a look. |
