Why nowadays teenagers love to smoke?

Smoking is bad for health as they all knew long time ago.. but, some cigarettes smells nice and some don relly smell that nice....

| it's not "nowadays" lol. Smoking has been around for quiet some time, of course, but there is actually a considerably less amount of smokers now than there has been before. |

Less smokers probably, but the age of smokers are getting younger and younger, right? I don't think there are still people that do it because "it's cool", but hey, I've heard it before. I think it's stupid, I don't think it's "cool", it's dangerous, but it's your decision, not mines.

Well, I don't think for all cases people think it's cool to do it, it's just no one really cares anymore. A lot of things that were taboo to see, twenty, thirty years ago aren't so much anymore. Not that smoking back then was too taboo because no one really knew the risks of kids doing it. But I'm talking about the fifteen, sixteen year old kids I see smoking now. And some people just smoke socially just as some people drink socially as well. It's just something that people happen to do occasionally around certain people or under certain circumstances because you're kind of expected to or it just happens. That's more of a personal choice though to actually indulge in it, but with kids, they'll do whatever, whenever if everyone else around them is doing it. I personally think it's disgusting, and in the long term, messes you up. Which, as for me, I already have enough medical issues, I don't need about a dozen more for when I'm 30, 40 years old. Most teenagers likes to try/discover new things in this world and one without enough knowledge will try almost anything they could even if it harms oneself like smoking, taking drugs, etc... Well, i'm not the one to talk coz i don't smoke.. XD Also some teenagers have life problems leading them to try something that can make them forget or releases their problems I agree with the word teenagers, coz in my high school, 80% of the students are smokers... (boys) DX To me smoking is just something that can harm our health and its a waste of money, and you get nothing good from it except... harming your health that is .. XD and there are people who thinks its cool but actually its the opposite...    |

The sideeffect of cigarrete is making the smokers feel calm and refresh them from the stress. nowadays things got heavier, school and college got harder, life got harder, things about money, relationship with other people, other people egocentriscity (without seeing if themself are egocentric or not). they got more stressful and alot choose smoke to release their stressfullness  |

oh...it's actually because smokers think that they become cool if they smoke... it's stupid... and uhm...i think they do it also just to kill some time... well...leave those doofus butt heads... they just don't know what pain in the ass they will get after puffing it out...  |

Hm...good question... I think mostly it's because they think it's cool, Or they're just following their friends, without realizing that it is not good for the health, not only for the one who is smoking but also for the others surround them... Sadly it's not only the teenagers who did that, sometimes I also saw some elementary students smoke secretly in front of their school >.<   |

i think teenagers r fond of smoking nowadays because smoking dissipates all their worries! XD and soemtimes, peer pressure! Teppie: yaay! smoking for the sake of coolness is totally not cool at all. i mean everybody knows how dangerous smoking is to our health. it shortens your life and the people around u- not cool! XD

| I personally think smoking looks really cool, but then again I'm a bit of a romantic. I don't smoke, obviously, because that would be silly of me. But I do think it looks cool. |

SMOKING is soooo not cool. First, it's bad for your health. Second, bad for others. Maybe they do it because of peer pressure and temporary happiness. XDD i don't know. but friends that urge you do it is not worth keeping and happiness can be achieved in some other ways. So yeah, just choose the alternatives. haha. XDD (not drugs though. > >) |

And...i dont know...when i ask all my friend that smoking(dont count me), They only said: its for release their stress... or...some of them said...its a change for their meal(i know its like..."WTF!! Thats stupid!!") And the other person that already stop...he could said that: It was hard to stop...because your mouth will taste bitter if you try to stop immediately...-_-''  |

In the words of Mark Twain, "If smoking is not allowed in heaven, I shall not go." I think maybe it's a little bit of everything. I myself didn't start smoking until I was 18, so I can only speculate as to why minors do it, but I would assume rebelliousness has some significant role for them. But as to why people smoke in general, it feels good. When you work or have a busy schedule, there's nothing nicer than taking a few minutes to have a cigarette, a 5 minute smoke relaxes you about as much as just sitting down for a break for 15 minutes. So when you don't have more than a ten minute break and also want to say, have a snack or something, smoking just helps you get a maximum of stress relief for your time. Granted, they're probably the most addictive way to use tobacco (judging from personal experience), so I've made the switch over to pipe smoking. Which is the most enjoyable way one can legally spend an hour outside I daresay, with the bonus of tasting and smelling better than cigarettes (and it looks damned cool. At least I think so, people tell me I'm an old man on the inside). Smoking because of stress is a big reason why a lot of the people I know smoke and often can't stop smoking besides the addiction. It's just something they go back to because of stress or the addiction again and again. ♥ ♥ No one can see inside of your T i r e l e s s M i n d . |

Well, I think it's because they think it's cool and makes them look like an adult, stupid reason I say. It's just that there's someone that told them to smoke. Example: A mid schooler hangs out with bunch of college students who smoke. They will tell him that smoke is cool and bla bla bla... finally, the mid schooler tries it and got addicted. Soon, He'll told his mid schooler friends to try it too and the chain's goes on. Soon, the reason will change from smoke is cool to smoke is a man thing, you don't smoke, you're not a man... wth... I'll say: go to he** would ya? I said this because my friends told me their reason to smoke and it's quite similar... *sigh*... |

| I haven't been smoking very long, only about a year and a half. I don't light up everyday and I first got into it because I was drinking when a friend of mine offered me a cigar. However it went from a social habit I did only when I was partying to something I did because it calmed my nerves after crappy day of work or when I got overstressed from school. I am fully aware of the consequences of my habit but it is still my choice to do it. Quite frankly it has not affected my performance as an athlete nor has it become something I must do everyday. I just enjoy the occasional smoke, what's so wrong with that? |

Absolutely nothing is wrong with it, I really don't see why folks have to hate on those who engage in law abiding activities. What kind of cigars to you smoke? Personally I'm a fan of the Padrón 1926 series. |

| You have impeccable taste I have to admit but I don't go for cigars anymore. I smoke from my pipe more than anything. I go to this independent grower who runs a tobacco shop near me. His select blend is something else, full flavor but smooth as silk. |

I think it depends on some people. Some smoke because they wanted to follow their friends, some think it as a trend, some smoke to show rebel to their parents (and got themselves into bog trouble) and some smoke because they think it is cool. Blame the one who invented cigar and the one who turned it into pocket-sized cigar- cigarette.  |

I think they follow their father,relative or friends...actually I hate smoke because the smell of smoke is awful and so dengours...it will effect for people especially children...the smell its can kill me...I want fresh air..not the smoke air...if man smoke because is cool and some said became adult,for me is not...smoke is can kill people and waste the money and healthy will be affect for people who taking smoke...   |
