One of my 6 anticipated series this spring. I could've created threads for those others but this show is just too cute to pass up. Based on the visual novel created by LUMP OF SUGAR, you know the same guys that made Nursery Rhyme which had that addicting song by Saori Sakura. Anyways Tayutama is perhaps one of the most adorable games i've played just cause the characters are so charming. Case in Point! The adorable Mashiro!!!   Summary of the Story (courtesy of Wiki) The story of Tayutama revolves around the male protagonist Yuuri Mito, a third year high school student who is descendant to the Mito family of the Yachimata Shrine. One day during spring break, Yuuri and his friends Ameri and Sankurou discover a wooden relic which bares mysterious symbols in the school's woods. The relic turns to host the Tayutai race which the shrine worships, but is deemed by the school to be insignificant for preservation, and is set to be demolished for the school's expansion. Yuuri later sneaks into the school to transfer the relic's spirits, after coming to the conclusion that destroying the relic may be harmful. As he performs the ritual, he accidentally summons Kikuramikami no Hime, a Tayutai goddess whom explains the belligerent relationship between humans and Tayutai, and materializes into a young girl, hoping to maintain a mutual relationship with humans. The relic is then destroyed after an accident caused by Ameri, which accidentally releases the entire Tayutai race, among which are Nue and Oryu, two other influential Tayutai who holds severe distaste in humans. Been on my Spring list of anime to watch for a while now. I know one my girl friends who played the game, haha! Who's the artist? I know it's so recognizable!! >_<;; Other than this, I think I read parts of a doujin on it (or something). :P

Well DAngel-san the artist for all Lump of Sugar games is Moekibara Fumitake-san. She's a pretty popular character designer & she's done numerous fanart of other characters that may look familiar, i have to find them so i can post them later. Maybe that's why her style is so recognizable. The other games she designed for are besides Tayutama are: "Nursery Rhyme", "Itsuka, Todoku, Ano Sora ni", "Platinum Wind", "Moldavite", & the upcoming sequel to Tayutama called Tayutama ~Happy Days~. |

Ah, Nursery Rhyme/Platinum Wind. :P Gotta see episode two still and dL three later when I get home. Definitely one of my top favorites currently airing.

*bump* Is anyone still following this besides me and Izumo? And I was wondering where Nue was on that website, I can't find her on the characters page. I wonder if she has an more grown up form like Mashiro is normally in.

im still following this series. Waiting for the final episode now i didn't even notice there is a thread for tayutama i gotta say the story is nothing special but the char design are just simply undeniably cute!

I think it could've been a bit better, it's just too average like every other 12+ episode anime these days. Maybe to add more topics, favorite character anyone? Pretty touch choices though. :P

is it tough indeed i think my 1st place will be Mafuyu and followed by Ameri and Mashiro ...wait mashiro is too cute to be 3rd place and there is Nue as well, so...hmm... WHY DO U HAVE TO ASK THAT question arghhhh!><

Mifuyu is totally awesome and hotness to the max, but she didn't have any character development in my opinion. :O I liked the part during one of the later episodes where Mashiro washed his back, then Mifuyu unzipped and washed his back (it never actually happened though). You're right, a very tough question, plus I think Yumina's incredibly cute, too! I really like Nue, her voice brings her character together and I love it, but her older form would totally blow Mashiro's away, but it's a tough contest though, insanely tough. I like Ameri, too, but throughout the anime, she did the same thing a lot. She would show her obvious feelings for Yuuri, but has never revealed 'em. But oh sure, make the love triangle into some octagon! Plus the fights I thought, were kind of boring and weak.

considering this one came from visual novels, i assume this one only follow Mashiro story line and that's probably why we didn't see much character development from Mafuyu and Ameri but then again at the time i watch the first episode i didn't really expect much, i just continue because lump of sugar is behind this xD and about your question earlier, Nue is in the character page http://www.tayutama.com/character.html

Yeah, I could imagine something like that, but for someone who didn't play what was a great game, I wanted to same experience in the anime! It's like, these companies don't get enough budget values to expand the series more or so, but I can imagine a second season, I'm dLing episode 12 right now (I think the final episode). And yeah, my mistake, I was on the game website, which doesn't have her. Was she some sort of anime-only new character or something totally different?

ok final episode, what should i say i don't think it's a bad ending, it's quite good actually but for some reason it kinda lack something if KyoAni handle the ending scene it probably will be more emotional

It was expected that being based on an erogame & the short timeframe of the anime being only 12 or so episodes that many content present in the game would be omitted in the anime. Most glaring to say the least is the character development of the characters. Only a handful of them were given some justification particulary Mashiro & Yu & to some degree Ameri. However despite the anime's short comings i enjoyed it very much so. Some may be due to the reference i had from playing the game before but another is i enjoyed the seiyuu's performances...not overly spectacular but good enough to keep me entertained. Particularly liked Mashiro's "Yuri-shan"...awwww. The little details of the anime were also hilites for me cause almost every scene there was something going on like in the background or with the characters speaking themselves. Could've it been much better...probably if given like maybe 23 or so episodes...like showing more of the past of Mashiro. Deeper development of characters & so on. The overall cuteness & charm of the anime was well worth watching...& since only a few months ago that the 'sequel' Happy Days was released we may well yet see these characters again. As for the reason Nue isn't shown in that page is that since she is one of the 3 Tayutai 'villians' she's kinda a secret character. It was some of her incidentals from her seiyuu that were some of the best!! Great little character though sadly not enough time to show her alot. Forgot to add...the ending with the town covered in water is exactly the way it was shown in the game. That very same shot with Yuri & Mashiro on the motorbike overlooking it is the same. |

[@Raizo] You're very right, if KyoAni did this anime it'd remind me of Air TV. Air TV is one of the best series of 12 or so episodes in recent years. Maybe because it was made by Kyoto Animation, maybe from something else, but for some reason not a lot of 12+ episode anime series are that up to par. I can't say I've played the game, because I haven't, but seeing the anime, I can say it wasn't that bad, but wasn't that good, either. I wish it was longer, cause maybe that's why the anime lacked so much because of the limited amount of episodes. Maybe with more episodes, you can get a more deeper storyline, more character development especially, and possibly more goodies! The final episode, other than lacking what I explained about the series, wasn't that bad, either. Could've been a bit more emotional, when everyone was closing their eyes at the wedding ceremony, I was like "...okay?" lol. I mean, I can get emotional with certain scenes in anime, but those were one where you just sit there and watch. It's funny how Ouryuu wanted to destroy Yuuri at the end, then all of a sudden, becomes this motivational speaker at his wedding ceremony, lol. The ED can lead to a possible OVA, maybe have episodes dedicated to the other girls, but with that scene at the end, for some reason I don't think there can be a second season, but usually when I see these moments, I'm always like "hmm, definitely a possiblity", but who knows. I mean, of course I'd be happy if there was one. If not, it's whatever. The series was fun, but nothing I'm totally in love with.
